Going to be very fun in Commander

Indeed. I like that it has the ability to remove both your opponent's creatures and your own. I like that it's a good countermeasure against stuff like Oblivion Ring. I also like that it doesn't return the creatures it exiles to play if it's exiled.

Fun card.

Even though Warden of the Wall is a pretty shit card, it has good flavor. Not all cards can be fantastic, I'm just glad they made it interesting.

Stormkirk captain is a damn good vampire, especially for an uncommon.

If Warden of the Wall simply didn't enter the battlefield tapped, i'd definitely use it in limited. That tapped entering the battlefield completely kills it though.

Helavault is interesting, I don't have the mind for magic that lets me see potential combos but I can't help but feel like someone will figure out an interesting way to use the card for some shenanigans.

I also really like Predator Ooze.

Went to the card shop for the first time in a minute, bought three packs on a whim. Two snapcasters and a Liliana. Think that's about as good as it'll get this block.

Been a bit of luck going around lately. A friend bought two of those new 2-player M12 draft packages and got two Grave Titans, one was foil.

I bought a few packs yesterday. Got, uh, a Day of Judgement.

I'll rephrase: Bit of luck for non-me people haha

Grats on the pulls though. Snapcaster is going to hold its value if not increase, I think.

Lingering Souls
All the more reasons to play W/B tokens deck.

I regret trading my 3 Bloodline Keepers away. Thought I'd given up on a vamp deck but Stromkirk Captain is looking quite nice.

Might be the best 3 pack pick up I've ever heard of. You sonuvabeeetch.

Anyone know where I can get some card sleeves with Bears on them?

I'm going to build a Grizzly Bear deck to troll my friend but I don't know if any exist, and I can't seem to find any haha

Maybe somewhere that custom makes them?

Nice!!

Haha damn. Spent the last 2 years or so pimping out my Dredge deck, and now that it's just about to be completed, they nerf it to pieces. Oh well, got most of the components cheap. :)

Sad part is that I have no real use for the snaps or Liliana. They're definitely wasted on me, but that was just a silly pull.

I really like stromkirk captain for draft and possibly standard. I am a little disappointed with the latest spoilers after those awesome first few days.

Still holding out for a good 2 drop Zombie. Can't decide what colour combo would be best for Zombies, mono B, B/r or B/U.

Btw WW, this is the best triple pull ever (in a sealed event no less):

Comes into play tapped immedietly means that it won't be anywhere near as powerful as Finks, but I can already see ways to combine that with some Shadowmoor -1/-1 counter goodness to take advantage of the life loss.

...oh wow. My personal best was double Venge back in Eldrazi release events. Made the switch to Bant for Standard pretty easy.
Then I never actually left drafting events for some reason :/

Damn. Some fun things to be done with it. Should be interesting to see what comes out deck builds with it if nothing else. It really is the opposite of Finks but probably too prohibitive (BBB!) to be anywhere near as defining of a card, even if life loss and Undying is just that nice.

I never played Magic, as I was always a Yu-Gi-Oh! kid, but the one thing that always stuck out to me was the artwork. A lot of it is really good. Who does it? It's a bunch of different people right?

Yeah, they have a lot of different artists who they contract work out to. I've had a rotation of Magic art as my desktop wallpaper for years now.

Mono black zombies then... still a 2 drop short of a deck! Shame both the new guys are rare.
Need to decide on cemetary reaper vs unbreathing horde as well.

OMFG @ Tragic Slip....WOW....common! Even Blightsteel Colossus can slip and die sometimes!

-1/-1 is already neat in limited; turning it into Overkill mode is a nice bonus. I'm looking forward to drafting Black, I'll say.

Gather seems interesting, though I can't help but compare it to Timely Reinforcements.

I feel like Fateful Hour is going to be an incredibly underpowered mechanic. Holding at five or less life is far too risky for such small bonuses.

There has to be something we don't know that will make it workable, or else it's just going to be a waste.

Perhaps we won't know until the third set? That new angel card might be the lynchpin?

To me, Fateful Hour is just a bonus. The ability is pretty decent as is already. I mean two 1/1 for two mana isn't too bad. *red plays Arc Trail next turn @_@

Ideal start:
T1: Champion of the Parish
T2: Gather the Townsfolk, swing with a 3/3 CotP!
T3: Honor of the Pure, another 1 drop human, swing with a 5/5 CotP and two 2/2 humans.

Something like that. Possbily 12 dmg by turn 3!

Yeah, Fateful Hour to me is kind of like a worse version of Kicker or Multikicker: it makes cards more valuable in the late game. Its only good if you're losing or in a race though, if you're already leading then you don't get further advantage...

Actually...put like that...it seems pretty cool

Flavorwise though, I'm wondering if that Avacyn angel they're teasing (that's what it was called, right?) will end up as a legendary in the third set that provides some sort of protection. Something like "Fateful hour -- If you have five or less life, you can't lose the game and your opponents can't win"

Red is just too efficient these days to risk being down to five life. It's a great mechanic against Infect, though, if you have a way to reduce your own total.

Also, I wonder if people will slice their own total and put Platinum Emperion in play

Tragic Slip is absolutely incredible in Limited, and I am both psyched to use it and frightened at the prospect of having it used to me. Horror theme indeed!

Hey everyone. I last played Magic in 2001 and am coming back to the hobby. I've got a few friends who play casual at the local store and they've rekindled my love for the game.

I'm building/adjusting an elf tribal deck and wanted to check if I'm getting a certain card's effect right. I don't want to ask my friends since I want to surprise them so I'm turning to you guys if you don't mind.

The card in question is Coat of Arms and I want to know whether it works the way I think. If I have, say, 20 elves on the battlefield does the card give all of them a +19/+19 bonus?

Yes, so long as the creature type says "Elf".

Yup, sounds right. For extra fun, play another Coat of Arms

I think Elvish Promenade would work well in that situation too.

I've got another combo working in the same deck as well using Oracle of Mul Daya and Ambush Commander to put in play more lands and then turning them into more elves.

EDIT: One last question; about Planeswalker cards - which didn't exist last time I played -, particularly Nissa Revane and her ultimate ability:

Search your library for any number of Elf creature cards and put them onto the battlefield. Then shuffle your library.

So, if I do get that far into the game where I have 7 loyalty points to spend, do I actually get to put on the battlefield all elf creatures in my library? I know there are plenty of cards which could penalize me heavily if I did that, say something like Day of Judgment, but the potential hilarity that would ensue would be worth the risk.

Ayup

Are there anything in standard that's 6 mana and have a ETB deal 10 damage or something to a player that can combo with the witch and that curse?
