If anything I feel that it should be ponder. It guarantees turn 2 flipped Delver too easily and smooths out the other blue decks. I kinda want Snapcaster to go just so I can pick some up for Legacy cheaper though.
It's actually more the Snapcaster + Cantrips/P-Mana engine now, some decks have cut Delver.
Think about it, Ponder can't do the reason a Delver flips on turn two ;p
If you kill Mage, the deck's consistency nosedives off a cliff, even w/ Ponder around.

My thinking exactly. Plus Ponder has already been banned in Modern, giving some degree of precedent. And Snapcaster fuels archetypes beyond Delver, and the rise of Delverless Delver means that banning Delver itself is probably not going to be as effective as previously thought.

Various flavors of U/B/x control, of course.
They only use him as a 2x for redundancy on their various spells though. He's not really integral.
Legacy control uses him as a 4x, but Legacy control is a very different animal.
Delver probably has to go in Standard. It's too good. One mana for a 3-powered evasive creature is too efficient and too powerful. It boggles my mind that Wild Nacatl was banned in Modern yet they allowed this to stick around for Standard. Should've been a 2/2 flier at most. Griselbrand is probably getting the axe in Legacy but I hope they kill Show and Tell with it.
If you cut Delver of secrets then it's no longer a Delver deck. Delver relies on an aggressive creature / tempo strategy. UW without Delver is just some midrange planeswalker control.
Yeah, in an AMA on Reddit Maro (or maybe Aaron) flat out said that Snapcaster Mage should have been red but because it was the last invitational card ever and his original card was blue oriented they made it blue but wish they had made it red instead.

That's pretty awful. Six mana to tutor for one card? Seven mana to tutor for two? I suppose the numbers get better at eight mana for three cards? Nah, not really. It's an awful card.

It's another one of those terrible card that some EDH players will sink countless hours into trying to figure out how to break it.

It has pretty good value from new Liliana's ultimate, but putting a card in your deck that's only good if a planeswalker goes ultimate is one of the more terrible things you can do when brewing.
Play it as a one-of with another tutor in your deck! That way you can use the tutor to bring it out once you've got liliana's ultimate out.

She's not as much of an immediate threat as a lot of other planeswalkers, so I could see an opponent not making killing her his top priority depending on the board state

Thanks. It seems like new sets come out so fast that it's hard to keep in Magic, which is why I got out. I really only like playing Standard too, which is what my problem is. I still remember my M10 pre-release and launch.

Yep. Rules require you to clearly mark which card is yours. Some people check a box, or write a card name, or scribble out everything but the card in particular. Or, my favorite, commission an expensive alter:

Interesting ramp... but you have to survive to turn 4 to use it. Meh

So tomorrow my Steam copy of Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 unlocks, and that gets me a promo code for a M13 booster with the Serra Avatar promo. Since I have no physical cards, just MTGO, I don't have too much use for it. I'll give it away to the thread; just PM me if interested. (Of course, if you have anything fun on MTGO to kick back I wouldn't complain. 
I gotta give Wizard's props: They're pretty fast in their tech support service.

Opened it and it contained 20-40 (forgetting, I think it's 20 each) cards for two sides like the retail starter pack I had. Note 8th Edition is ten years ago and this is like, back when Magic Online started and I kept the code for that long because I didn't have a credit card at the time to open an account.
So props, Wizards: You just earned a loyal fan.
