i'd like it better if it was like...during your upkeep, if you control 5 or more vampires, transform it
I like the mana cost for the activation. Being able to dodge an incinerate is handy. Giving your opponent a window to respond to it transforming on your upkeep is bad news. The fact it just costs a black means for BB you can dodge said incinerate fairly easily.

The UI is all sorts of fucked up. I tried a similar move in tapping a creature with the free trial demo thing and got turned off.
And I still wish they would accept my 8th edition code. I'm not sure if e-mailing Wizards would let them open up an account and give me my free 8th edition starter kit cards for free. :/
Speaking of which, I've been meaning to book mark the "playing Online for cheap" posts that Chojin posted up. Anyone have it?
I can dig for those if you'd like.
What's in the 8th edition starter kit? I started on release and I never got one of those. Was it just a starter pack of 8th? I know its the principle of the matter, but hell, if you're really hard up for 8th edition cards or whatever was in there, I'm sure I could find or give them to you just to get you playing online

When I think of 8th edition I think of shitty rares like Jade Croccodile and Vizzerdrix. Bribery is the only really money rare, at 22 dollars. And then Phyrexian Arena and BoP at 1.25 (which you can probably get cheaper depending on the set) and then WoG at 3 bucks.
But yeah, MTGO is awesome for casual play. It's not very hard to get cards and most of the major sellers have a bot available to get free cards once a month with. Granted they're all going to be commons, but many are staple and stuff you can play with. Combine free cards with casual trading, yeah it'll take some elbow grease but you can play and build a limitless amount of decks.
Playing competitively is a whole different story. That can and will break your wallet depending on the deck you play. But with that said, there's so many daily events and people playing the game that even playing a budget deck will win you some packs once in a while. Good play trumps good cards every time.
The rewards system is by far one of the best things though. Every month you get a bunch of free cards depending on your "points" you've earned. You get a monthly summary of your points via email. The rewards come in tiers. Lower tiers are special art lands but the higher tiers you get some really good stuff. Like I got a textless Foil Terror which was friggan awesome. You get points simply by logging into the game, at least 3 or 4 times a weeks and those points max out, then you get points for plaing sanctioned tournaments. So yes, the more you spend the more you get, but even playing a draft or two a month will net you some nice cards, with foils.
