Anything that comes into play for free multiple times is good. Especially if it's hasty. See Demigod of Revenge

Do kids in high school still play magic? I just started at a high school here in Maine and I don't want to sound like an idiot if I ask my students... I'd like to start a club or something.
Thats where I learned and played for 3 1/2 years. And its gotten a lot bigger at my old school, thanks in no small part to my brother getting his friends into it, including one of the most popular guys in the school.happyscrappypup said:Random question...

I made a red/green one with raid bombardment. Awakening zone, brood birthing, nest invader, emrakul's hatcher... also put in viashino slaughtermaster, marisi's twinclaws which also work nicely with raid bombardment. Added a couple R(x) damage type spells as finishers in case I don't draw raid bombardment or if I lose it. Also some equips like quietus spike and bones saw to power up the double strikers etc. Jaddi life strider for life gain.siddx said:I keep meaning to throw together a just for fun eldrazi token deck with eldrazi monument and raid bombardment

Takuan said:MTGO questions: Can one purchase draft boosters with tickets, or are tickets strictly for event entry and trading? Are Worldwake boosters currently available?
Is that the way to go? In an economy where 1 ticket is pretty much $1, there doesn't seem to be an incentive for bots/sellers to trade boosters for less than 4 tickets (or however much boosters cost on MTGO, I'm assuming 3.99US for Canadians as well).Akim said:You can buy packs from bots with tickets.

How 'bout dat Worldwake?
Zaraki_Kenpachi said:Anyone have a opinion on which card is better from the magic "gameday" this weekend? The cards are suture priest and pristine talisman.
suffah said:Market demand, my friend. Doesn't matter that MSRP is $4. Wizard throws out booster packs as prizes for everything online and the market gets flooded. The MTGO marketplace corrects itself extremely quickly, it's sick.
WWK boosters should be 3.7-3.8 ish tickets. SOM/MBS was as low as 3 tickets each last month. Since I'm a cheap bastard, I usually scour the forums for ticket deals. Picked 300 up recently at .89 each.
Talisman is obviously more flexible since it's an artifact, but I'd take the priest. Also, go for that BSZ if you can, I hear it's going for around $20+ already.
Zaraki_Kenpachi said:I should get one, it's for top 8 and we usually have 10 people. I'm debating whether to try my new deck that is untested to get one of the promo cards or go with my known good green deck to hopefully get a black sun zenith.

Zaraki_Kenpachi said:Nah, we're talking about the special edition with the alternate art just for "gameday" this weekend. Normal one from beseiged is only like a $1.50 IIRC.

I got pretty jank rares (White Sun's, Decimator Web, and I don't even remember the Scars rare) in my draft and went 1-3 playing red/white aggro. I got another Spellstutter Sprite promo at the end of it all, however, so at least I got some money back. Contemplating buying a pre-release faction pack booster box, but not 100% on it yet. I have this silly feeling that the mythics will somehow be of higher quality and/or in higher numbers than with a standard booster box... I'm sure it's the same, though...Zaraki_Kenpachi said:I'm pretty happy tonight, I bought a fat pack and got Thrun. Bought two booster got a Massacre Wurm. Then played the draft and got a Venser and my 4th white sun zenith. I got some white wall promo tonight that's an 0/4 and when it enters play you draw a card and traded it for 3 faction boosters and pulled a green sun zenith and mirran crusader. Both of which I've been trying to pull from boosters for my green and white decks I built.![]()

Awesome. I sort of want to clean out the Wal-Mart near my girlfriend's place of their Worldwake boosters for a shot at Jace, but I can't rationalize $6/pack for them (Canadian MSRP, thanks Wizards).An-Det said:I was at a kmart earlier and saw some Worldwake packs. The first pack yielded a Jace the Mind Sculpter, and of the remaining 5 packs I got a Celestial Colonnade, Stoneforge Mystic, and a Creeping Tar Pit (and 2 junk rares). Fuck yeah.
It's an 18/18 split between the two factions. I just really want a Tezz, who doesn't have a faction. And I just love opening packs. I dunno, maybe I'll just save the money and play the lottery on a few packs.Zaraki_Kenpachi said:Only thing that sucks about a box of faction is it's only one faction... I don't think it's a higher draw for rares but obviously higher draw if you only want a specific faction since it's one faction. So odds are still 1 in 8 but the pool of possible mythics is essentially cut in half. And After Hex's pull I don't feel as happy anymore.![]()

WanderingWind said:Ah, cool. Not to sound too dorky or whatever, but the feeling of finally building the perfect deck is just so satisfying. Thanks to the advice in this thread, I have a perfect Vampire deck. I'll list it off later, but it's really troll-tastic.
Also, suffah, just re-found the Colossus. In the mail tomorrow. Sorry, mate. My wife moved it on me.
Yeah, the normal besieged box is $10 less. I'm just scared of getting a really shitty box, and my silly mind is operating on the likely false belief that faction packs will yield better results. I'll make a last-minute decision tomorrow at the store.Zaraki_Kenpachi said:Dunno, if you don't care maybe see if you can get normal beseiged box for cheaper? I'd honestly buy whichever is cheaper if it's split 18/18 since it's not helping your chances any to pull a Tezz.
Thinking of using my untested white deck tomorrow instead of my wurm since it's all Mirran. I really hope I place in top 8 but hopefully won't be too hard since not a lot of people usually show up. I'd really like that black sun zenith.

Agreed. IF you hit 1 Tezz in a box, you are probably still behind. No Tezz and ouch. The odds of pulling 2 tezzs are horrible if you want to come out on top.Hex said:Drop 40-45 on a Tezz, 13-15 on a Thrun, 10 on an Inmoth nexus, 4.50 on a Black Sun's Zenith, 7 on a Green Sun's Zenith and then spend the other 20-25 on packs and that way you are covered. (Obviously switch the names with whatever rares you are looking for.. Knights go for about 4 each Blightsteel goes for around 12 and is sooo good)
This is a good point. From packs and drafting, I already have everything you listed (multiples, even) minus the Blightsteel, Tezz, and Green Sun's Zenith.Hex said:Drop 40-45 on a Tezz, 13-15 on a Thrun, 10 on an Inmoth nexus, 4.50 on a Black Sun's Zenith, 7 on a Green Sun's Zenith and then spend the other 20-25 on packs and that way you are covered. Still, paying $40 for a single card I want for the sake of having it is kinda hard to swallow when I could pay less for a fattie and gamble for Tezz plus other utility cards (I need 2 more GFTT, more Knights would be great, more money cards in general would be great). But of course, there's the likely chance I *won't* get Tezz or any other money rares/mythics. Derp.
Edit: So I wound up picking up 6 packs of MBS, 3 of which were Japanese. Pulled Thrun, Hero of Oxid Ridge, and Phyrexian Vatmother from the English packs, and then a Spine and two Galvanoths (boo!) from the Japanese boosters. Not a bad haul at all. I also picked up a starter deck of Vampire because my pal wanted to play it.
I'm definitely not buying a box anymore. I know eventually I'll get my Tezz eventually, one way or another.
Zaraki_Kenpachi said:Ya, I've got kind of a similar mindset. I'll buy singles if they're important and a buck or two (or less). But I can't bear spending that much on a single instead of taking my chances with packs since I enjoy opening packs.
I got my treasure mage and black sun zenith today. I'm happy!![]()
Hex said:You got one of the full art Black Sun's Zeniths?
Zaraki_Kenpachi said:Yup, placed high enough to get full art of both. I wanted to go faction too but I tested my mirran deck after getting there early and there was literally no way I would have gotten the black sun if I didn't play my wurm deck. Plus there were already 4 mirran decks so I wouldn't have been in top 2 for that either.

If you ever decide you want to trade it for multiple regular Black Sun's Zeniths or a Black Sun's Zenith and some other rares hit me up!
