I love the period right before a new set releases. The whimsy thought process behind trying to integrate cards into decks. The fun theorycrafting deck builds with all the new toys.

And then the metagame deck building kicks in and I burn out and quit again. It's a dangerous cycle :(

One Russian and one Japanese box pre-ordered.
Counting down to pre-release, I hate when spoilers trickle in so slowly.

My process is to review new cards as they're spoiled and prepare to sweep the prerelease sealed deck event. Then I get crappy pulls, go 2-2, and walk away with one pity-pack as my prize. :P

I quit shortly after Masques after playing from Beta.
Got back in right as Scars was releasing, sold out again after New Phyrexia but it didn't last.
Never selling out again, taking breaks is fine.
Drafting has been alot of fun for me and I wish I got into it way back though nobody really did it around here.
The league that they did for Innistrad has been alot of fun too, and I am hoping to have one for Ascension also.

God, I did so much reading for Eldrazi (last set before I quit). Don't think I won a single event :|

Well, depends. I wish I had cashed out when I quit if only because the value of most my decks tanked hard. This is for MTGO though, not physical. I actually don't think I ever cashed out anything besides Jace 2.0 (and that was recently, unfortunately). I should look into that...

MTGO made me love drafting. Process was quick, simple, and it was always going. Some of the most fun I had, really.

Wait, I just noticed that you don't sacrifice the Jar when you activate its ability. That...actually makes it good. Possibly really good.

Some sort of token sacing engine to drive it would be cute. Not sure what the Standard scene is right now, though, in terms of card search. Seems like there should be something to drive it to be really good but I may just be missing something.

Also, I clicked this thread on a whim and now I'm reading all sorts of recent articles. Thanks a lot :(

Jar is not very good in my opinion. You have to waste a card slot and pay six total mana to activate. I'd rather do something more productive on turn three like play a creature or an actual card draw spell.

It's slow, but it's also an artifact.

Green could take advantage of this somehow, although I don't think Pod would need it at all since it generates its own card advantage already.

Seems like it'll be strong in limited.

Regardless of how many cards you look at, it still only draws you 1 card. Seems like way too much of an investment to draw 1 card. Thumbs down from me. Still a flavorfull card though.

Well you draw one card and then stack your deck but yeah not cost effective until they bring back Ashnod's Altar for me.

Not in a graveyard set. Filter six, draw one and dump three spells with flashback into your graveyard and you've set yourself up pretty nicely. Or materials for the stitched zombies, or a half dozen other interactions.

The cards you don't draw go on the bottom of your library.

Basically, it is a 3 mana to draw a card whenever a creature dies.

Now, if you could stack, it would still be a less reliable version (and obscenely slow) of Sensei's Top.

I just found a bunch of Star Wars CCG cards in my mom's house. They may have one expansion thrown in here and there but mostly original release. You think I could ebay these for anything?

I look forward to the infinitely sac a creature -> infinite eyeballs -> completely stacking your deck combo.

Though I'm sure that that is accomplished in easier ways from other cards. And that there are far better uses of infinitely saccing a creature.

Whoop, damn, yeah, missed that

There's a combo here with Gravecrawler somehow...you just need a roundabout way to turn sacrifice into mana.

So I've recently been getting back into Magic and I just realized I had a whole playset of these...

On troll and toad they're four bucks each, wtf. Don't remember paying anything above a dollar for these, if I did at all. I think I may've pulled them.

Despite this this is a fantastic card that I plan on putting in a variety of decks. The question is however: Is there more must-have spells that can be put in almost any deck like this, despite their color?

Mind you my deck build I'm messing around with is humans and is currently only using mono-lands. Eventually I'll have to pinch for the non-basic lands with time, but for now this is all I got to play with.

Wow...interesting...very flavorful. His ulti can target PW as well...and THEN bring them over to your side!

It'll probably see play in Standard....not sure Modern/Legacy.

sorin is pretty nutty. ability and story-wise.

magic has been pretty good with keep the number of staples low. (unlike yugioh where back in tha day, a good portion of the deck was staples and then filled out with whatever archetype you liked.)

gut shot is pretty similar and almost as popular

Nice to see Sorin shaping up as another "Black hero". We haven't had a good one since Kamigawa

Although for a black aligned character he sure spends a lot of time going around saving things.

I started up with Magic Online. Just playing the Planeswalker deck stuff for now.

I never anticipated how entertaining Magic + the ability for opponents to anonymously complain about cards would be.

And yeah, that Sorin is great looking.

Does the Aristocrat officially make Human sacrifice a theme for this set?

Magic has come a long way from de-pentagramming Unholy Strength.

If Sorin's WB, I don't feel like Avacyn would also be WB, because it would be kind of silly having two WB mythics back to back.

Unless the W part of him has something to do with Avacyn. Like they had some freaky magic sex and now they're both WB.

It's quite fitting, since Innistrad was all but dominated by Humans (lore wise and especially in limited). Now they will be fodder to feed your unholy hoard.

If the rest of the set looks promising I'll probably break down and buy a box. The level of hype that Sorin is getting suggests he'll be at the same status as Liliana at release and may able to pay for most of a box by himself.
