My pick for sleeper in terms of value for this set is:

No way it doesn't go up in value. That's SUCH a cool ability.
Legacy, too.
Legacy too? :lol Why did they even print the card?

I like Soulbound and feel it should have constructed applications. It makes threats even scarier and practically forces removal of the enabler. I'm not a big fan of Miracle from a playability perspective, but flavor-wise it's awesome. I'll be dumping any Temporal Masteries I open on release day, no question. How are you guys feeling about Soulbond? It doesn't really jump out at me as something I want to put too much thought into. I'm sure it will be pretty nuts in limited though.
Miracles seem all well and good on the surface, but I predict that they will be very hard to balance in a deck. We might see a lot of one-offs so they truly can be miracle cards when they pop up.
Does anyone here buy singles? It's almost depressing seeing Tamiyo ($40), Temporal Mastery ($40), Tibalt ($25), and Cavern of Souls ($23) up so high already. There are quite a few others that are $10+ as well.
Edit: Takuan, I love your avatar picture, but hate you for getting there first, lol. Tibalt is so dapper.

Effects like those are what's known as Static Effects. Most cards that say "Creatures you control get +1/+1" or "Creatures enchanted player controls get -1/-1" are active so long as the card remains in play.Speaking of wording, there are several cards that says "as long as X is in the battlefield, blah blah blah". Riders of Gavony text is "As Riders of Gavony enters the battlefield, choose a creature type. Human creature you control have protection from creatures of the chosen type". Since it doesn't have that first phrase I mentioned, does that mean even if Riders of Gavony isn't on the battlefield anymore after resolving, Humans will still gain protection of said creature type?
If you're looking to make a really good sacrifice deck you should consider moving to Green/Black. Then you can stick Gutter Grime, parallel lives and lumberknot in there. My friend runs a build like that and it's brutal. Also even if you stick with white put 4 reassembling skeletons in there, unlimited sac fodder.
Won me a draft the other night. Load up heavy on creatures, couple cellar doors and a gutter grime and go to work with that parrallel lives. People avoid picking lumberknot, geists, etc because of the expensive green investment too.. mono green is strong.

There are no situations where Cellar Door should be in your limited deck.
Also, I just realized that they didn't print a B/W angel.![]()
Ok really bad cards you never ever want to play in constructed:
Seance (this isn't even playable in limited)
Skirsdag Flayer (Doom Blade or Go for the Throat are better in every way)
Falkenrath Torturer (I guess he's better when built around, but he's still a bad 3 drop compared to everything any other deck plays)
Unruly Mob (1/1s need to have sick abilitys to be worth it)
Thraben Sentry (at 4 you could be playing Hero of Bladehold)
Ok cards that aren't amazing
Altar's Reap (only if you really need the card draw)
Thraben Doomsayer (he's ok to play around with, I wouldn't play more than 2 as he's not great)
Cards you do want to consider
Lingering Souls
Lingering Souls
Lingering Souls
Anthems (Intangible Virtue / Honour of the Pure)
Midnight Haunting
Reduce the Tragic Slips for some different removal like Doom Blade / Go for the Throat / Geth's Verdict / Tribute to Hunger (dependent on mana for last two)
Hero of Bladehold
Lingering Souls
A sword or two wouldn't be bad if you have any
The stuff you mentioned is all good, definitely a couple of Oblivion Rings. Skirsdag High Priest isn't that bad either.
I just played hunts master for the first time and holy shit does that deck wreck face. It just ramps so absurdly fast.
Indeed it does
Yeah, I'm alright with thatThe titans just make it fucking insane. I could see it still being ok but it's going to take a huge hit when the Titans leave. They just make it bananas.
Thanks for your input, and everyone else who gave some also.

2x Doom Blade
2x Go for the Throat
Land (24)

Couple of questions:
Is Seance really that bad? I see that it's expensive, but besides that it seems like if I can get it down there's pretty much no down side. Seance'ing back Doomed Travelers to sac them for +1/+1's and then I get to keep their spirits, humans for feeding Archdemon of Greed, etc. None of it's necessary, but if I can get it down it's a big tool.
I cut all my Unruly Mob's. Initially I was thinking I should keep a couple, or a couple Village Cannibals, but I'm not sure if I really need them, they are just nice to have down when I'm saccing stuff.
Midnight Haunting and Lingering Souls are good for getting more tokens, but they aren't humans, which would kinda suck. I guess that wasn't really a question, haha, but I'd love to hear if you think they're worth replacing anything (specifically) else in my deck with.
Yeah, I'm alright with that![]()
My liquimetal coating deck is still causing so much rage online. I love it.
This is how it sits now, it's been tweaked a bit since the last time I posted it.
Do you have to have a liquimetal coating in your opening hand or ?
I'm surprised there isn't a Clone-type card anywhere in here. You'd think it'd be good idea to print another way to kill all the Legendary stuff. Hopefully Phantasmal Image gets reprinted in 2013.
Oh Vampire Nighthawk. You are criminally good.
AKA Technomancer and siddx's favorite card.
I was just going to post my thoughts on it again and I literally closed the tab because I was like "nah, WW will make some snarky comment about already knowing my feelings"
I am having a lot of fun with this deck right now. No tricks. No removal. Just a ton of damage quickly (quite a bit from non-preventable sources.)

Do swamps count as colorless?
Do swamps count as colorless?
Yes, lands are colorless unless affect by something or stated otherwise on the rules text of the card itself.
Also, Magic-GAF, my friend and I will be sharing the URL for our collaborative review/evaluation of each card in Avacyn Restored if anyone wants to join in. Should be ready on Google Docs some time tomorrow.
Best game ever. Do it.I just played some, teaming up with my brother (we're noobs) against my cousin's husband and and his brother (who have at least some experience).
We weren't sure how team-battling worked, but we just generally pooled HP together. We played with a few premade decks the other two put together (I kind of randomly added in fire cards I thought looked useful). They played with mainly green and blue deck, and my brother and I played with red and white decks.
It was fun, but the mechanics are sometimes mind-bending.
Like.. why does fling count as a spell? Why can it be cancelled/interrupted by a blue card's "cancel any spell" move? XD
Stacking up cards with metal craft and stuff is kind of crazy. And we kept trying to mind control or act of treasoning each other.
In the end, my brother and I won one game and lost one. Not bad~!
I otherwise have a really really old starter deck from the Ice Age expansion? I bought it for almost no reason and never played until last weekend.
Now I kind of want to get into MtG...
