lol

Seriously, even if Elden doesn't get perma-banned people will never forget that he did that, nobody will trust him ever again, he'll constantly be watched closely by anyone viewing his games/playing him, and he'll probably never live it down in any mtg community.

Cheating really isn't worth it.

MicroProse game setting! Five wizards from Five Castles vy for control of the plane, each one representing a color of magic. A planeswalker representing all five, Arzakon, wanted the plane for himself. You stop him in the game. But this plane lives on, I see.

I remember the MicroProse game. To anyone that's played: remember the Astral cards? All of them had random effects that could only feasibly work in a digital setting.

They are really playing up Shandalar recently in a lot of places. I'm guessing its where we head after Ravnica. My less-sure guess is that after that we return to Kamigawa and then go somewhere new again in 2015

God I hope we get back to Kamigawa. I'm with LSV. I love that set and this was post-weaboo Chojin loving Kamigawa set.

Any other instances you can point out? I'd like to know.

The rings are from Shandalar, the blue legend in 2013 is also from Shandalar, its a "location" in DotP 2013 (I think), and some other small stuff I can't recall. But its conspicuous because there's been literally nothing about it for well over ten years and now all of the sudden its showing up with frequency.

I'm basing that weak guess solely on two things:
-We seem to be entering a pattern of "new plane-old plane-new plane-old plane" which falls in line with Wizards' stance in recent years on revisiting old mechanics and themes as a tool of design
-Tamiyo's existence basically says "we haven't forgotten that Kamigawa exists guys", and I'm not sure if they'd use her as a teaser for a set that's five years off.

Seeing Tamiyo is what did it for me, as well as MaRo's comments of this new age of Mechanics are the paint rather than the brush of new sets. Meaning that flavor trumps everything and seriously, you can't trump the flavor of Kamigawa. Plus it made for 3 years of people who can't pronounce japanese names properly hilarious. I still laugh when draft videos or LSV or anyone on Channel Fireball or SCG says Jitte.

How do you know

This dude is from Shandalar?

Talrand, a blue-aligned merfolk summoner from Shandalar, keys off of the power of instants and sorceries, so he creates an advantage in a base-blue deck that runs fwer creatures and more one-for-one spells.
I doubt Kamigawa is going to happen. A lot of people are speculating that Innistrad culled Kamigawa's unused ideas, and thus there isn't room for another set there. On top of it being relatively unpopular.

Personally, my money's on another massive event ala Timeshift, or going to the Egypt place hinted at in Future Sight.

I'd like to see a whole set in the Future, actually, with the Future Card Front. That shit looked pimp.

Pirates, on Kamigawa. Cause that meme is so old now I'm taking it back!

I missed out on all the "fun" sets like Planar, Time Spiral and Lorwyn. I hope they do another set like that...but they seem pretty hellbent on Super Serious Shit at the moment.

I was wishy washy on the game when Time Spiral came about because mostly I didn't like the idea of what they were doing to Planeswalkers in the lore (i'm more accepting of it now because it allows for planeswalker cards, which they've been wanting to do for AGES).

Future Sight has some really neat stuff that I hope they expand upon, and the concept of far-flung future sets from that set is really awesome.

There's no way we're not going back to Shandalar with classic mechanics. I refuse to believe WoTC would bow before the newbies that it was too complicated and nobody liked it. I don't care what the card sales are.

After Ravnica It's gotta be Shandalar or Kamigawa. There's rumblings of a "Planar Goosechase" set coming up where each Set in the block takes place on another plane chasing Nicol Bolas around the multiverse like it was Monsters Inc. Or that episode of the Real Ghostbusters with the Boogeyman, but I don't put any value on those rumors.

The fact they're even thinking of Shandalar is giving me goosebumps. I bet the set will be a mono-color strokefest. I'll love it so hard.

Yes, Shandalar, please. And remake the Micropose game. If WotC does that I'll give them all my money.

Green power.

edit: Yup, seems it was posted a few pages back. Still, I like this card. I like that they're 1/1 Saprolings, rather than 0/1.

I really doubt Kamigawa is going to be revisited anytime soon. Mirrodin and Ravinca are two of the most popular and beloved sets/planes of all time, they're not going to go to one of the least favorite. This isn't my personal opinion because I really liked Kamigawa and its Legends-focused theme and environment, I just don't see it happening.

Will certainly be trying it out in my green deck.

Oh hell yes. I know what janky deck I'll be taking to FNM the day M13 releases.

Art is good. pose sucks.

"Hey what's over there?"

Barf.

I'm so excited for Battle of Wits, you don't even know.

I need to find a way to play this in Standard...lol

Lots and lots and lots and lots of card draw, and Elixer of Immortality to throw everything back to the library. Splash black for any tutors, maybe.

What you do is, split it into 4 decks, then shuffle those.

Hue hue hue.

I look forward to the 250 card 5 color Door to Nothingness/Battle of Wits deck dominating the scene.

Oh if only. I feel like a 250 card deck is risky enough though, without creating an unstable manabase with 5 colors. :P

But I mean it's all about land to spell ratios I guess, so it should be doable.

Holy shit. Battle of Wits is back. Marking out so hard. Literally my favorite card in the history of Magic. I never thought I'd see this day again.

The is like, the Johnny Core Set.

Just a bunch of ridiculous cards to build around.

I believe there was a somewhat competitive battle of wits deck back in the day that lived a very short life due to some bannings that made it useless.

And gilded lotus makes me sad, makes my pack pulled minty fresh one I got just a few months ago seem less special.

I would be so fucking pissed if I opened a battle of wits in a draft. Especially a sealed. Same with door to nothingness.

OMG, Battle of Wits? HAHAHAHA. Door to Nothingness and now Battle of Wits. Imagine trying to shuffle a 200+ card deck. =/
At least with Gilded Lotus, I can definitely use in my EDH. The reprint will drop the price.

Man, they put some effort into those limited "dual color" uncommons, and then they go and reprint shit like door to nothingness and battle of wits. What are they even thinking. It's not good for limited OR standard. STOP TAKING UP RARE/MYTHIC SPOTS WITH SHITTTTTTTTT

MaRo said Vedalken are probably not coming back, ever.

Que? Do you have a link of some sort? Vedalken are a major component of Mirrodin (New Phyrexia), Alara and Ravnica's ecosystems. Their absence from any block taking place on those planes would be seriously noted and highly suspect.
