Obviously, I agree with that article. Want to know my secret weapon, btw? Bump In The Night. That little shocker has won me more games than I can count. Zombies (at least how I play them) are super fast and really only semi-big. Those last few points of damage tend to get hung up, and you can see this in a lot of the streams of pro games. If zombies don't win quick, they can force a bit of a semi-stalemate that they can't win against, especially against delver. That last few points off have really helped out a few times. And the rage when you burn them with black when they don't expect it? Delicious.
Are you playing Conscripts or something similar to deal with Thraggy?

Thragtusk is an issue, for sure. I was using image in sideboard for him to at least even the race. That'll need addressing. Wurmcoil was of the same mold and definitely caused my deck many problems. Still hate that card.

Right, so pre-rotation U/B zombies with a very good W/L ratio. Sideboard targets depending on whether playing online or in the local area would be Images, Metamorph, Adaptive Automaton and Obliterator - all gone.

1 x Darkslick Shores (gone)
3 x Drowned Catacombs
1 X Island
2 x Evolving Wilds
15 x Swamps

4 x Gravecrawler
4 x Messenger
4 x Diregraf Ghoul
4 x Diregraf Captain
4 x Tragic Slip
3 x Bump in the Night
3 x Mortarpod (gone)
4 x Geth's Verdict (gone)
3 x GFTT (gone)
3 x Blood Artist
2 x Cemetery Reaper (gone)

I've noticed that most people I talk to about magic, cite that their favorite set was the current one when they started playing. If someone started in Ice Age, their favorite is always Ice Age.

Well I started in Innistrad, and I like Innistrad a lot ;_;

That's kinda true. I started with Tempest annnnnnd....I usually cite that as my favorite set. Though to be honest, Innistrad IS really awesome and could possibly overtake it.

I started in Ice Age and... I think my favorite block is Scars, no lie.

But Ice Age will always have a special place in my heart

despite how terrible it is

I started in 5th edition/Mirage and....

actually I don't have a favorite expansion.

My favs back in the day when i started with revised were:

Legends/Arabian nights. I started when legend packs were hard to get and expensive, so i never had the opportunity to buy packs.

First expansion for me was The dark.

Quit around fallen empires/homelands. I dont even remember Homelands but i remember ice age. Thats when i was done for good.

EDIT.. i forgot about the Urzas saga block.. that brought me back for quite a bit. Then stopped again.

Back again with Avacyn restored and other than really liking RTR, i do think Innistrad was the best of that block, too back i came in at the tail end of it. In the end i think RTR will overtake Innistrad as my recent fav.

Started around 5th Edition/Weatherlight.

Favorites are Tempest block and Zendikar block, but there was a huge gap when I was playing, so I didn't have much time to get attached from Invasion-Lorwyn.

Started between beta and unlimited- favorite set probably would be legends just for the sheer flavor as well as Arabian Nights.
The Dark was most looked forward to (and the first set that I preordered a box for) but many years later Innistrad made up for it.
I prefer much of the older set ambiance before they started going into different worlds but there are very few sets I did not like (Mirroden block and Scars of Mirroden block).

Got out right after Masques, got back in a few months before Scars block hit.

Started in the beginning, then stopped at Ice Age. Came back during the SoM block. I can't really say what my favorite is, but I really like the Inn block, including Avacyn. I do have a soft spot for the old cards though. Really wish I had played during Lorwyn, as I really love the feeling from those cards.

I played during 4th edition/Ice Age as a kid. But since I was approximately 7 at the time my understanding of the game wasn't particularly great and have no real thoughts on that era besides some specific cards I remember liking.

I only really started playing again when M12 came out. And then only playing casuals and the occasional draft. I think my favorite set of mechanics so far is Scars Block.

I started around Ice Age quit just after Exodus hit then started up again with Shards of Alara. Shards and Weatherlight are my 2 favorite sets. Return to Ravnica is shaping up to be up there with Shards to me. I suspect I'll like Gatecrash even more since I'm a Boros guy.

A few pick ups today, the only really good thing is a second Demonic Tutor (Demons vs Angels version) and some other odds and ends.
I want my boxes, friday come to meeee...

Like sammich, I started when Revised just came out and though they existed, due to supply/demand, the packs for Legends/Arabians were priced out of my range (thanks for making Chronicles WoTC. Awesome idea that you probably should try again someday).

Retired from Magic when I went to college (Mirage block) but kept up since then. I've gone to pretty much all of the prereleases (minus the 4 years in college) since Alliances and really like the emphasis on art, balance (for the most part, within the set), and lore that the team has been making all these years.

If I had to pick a favorite set, it'd be Innistrad. Before that, Mirrodin, and before that, Kamigawa.

I started with Kamigawa but first really got into the game with Ravnica, and yeah, Ravnica is my favorite block. Lorwyn/Shadowmoor and Innistrad are both super close though.

If I had even been aware of Lorwyn and the surrounding block I would have been back in a looong time ago.

Apparently Wal*Mart has their RtR displays up early.
My friend just picked up a fat pack and first two packs so far were a Vraska and a Steam Vents.
Bastard.
(St Pete, fl was the one he went to)

My first set was Stronghold (I've taken several breaks), and Champions of Kamigawa is my favorite set, probably because I started drafting around that time, and Chk-Chk-BoK is probably my favorite draft format of all time. Rise of Eldrazi is probably my second choice- which also happens to be an awesome limited format

You sure? That seems really surprising since all the ones I know of are vendor run so a vendor from Hasbro has to come in and stock things. Walmart doesn't actually have any stock themselves or are allowed to touch the displays. I'm not sure how a vendor could screw that up.

Yep, others have found them too. They actually have a standee thing for RtR.
I went to 3 other Walmarts and found nothing in any others but did see the one myself (had to resist because I have boxes coming friday)

Huh, like I said it's just surprising since that's handled by Hasbro, not by some random employee at Walmart.

I think that it is kind of brilliant honestly.
People who may not have bought any or may already have boxes ordered have a hard time resisting "early" .
I did resist, I did pick up a Night of the Ninja deck for 19.99 though which made me happy.

Went to my local walmart to check out what they had, they were sold out on absolutely everything.

Except..

They had a few little plastic boxes with two 50 card case packs stuck between an odyseey theme deck and mercadian masques theme deck.. took me back to the good ole days

Some walmarts have 4 deck packs of those and some have Angel vs Demon decks in there as well as Commander.

Damn, Jace is $40 now and Vraska is starting to drop. I so fucking knew that Jace would jump up, I'm sad I had no money since it will be pricey to get Jace now. :(

Jace has some utility to him, I would wait a few weeks to trust prices though.
Right now people are buying like crazy for big events this weekend and next weekend and supply is tight.
I will definitely be watching the Star City Games Open this weekend to see how things shape up.
Vraska , I love her and all but have been advising friends to dump her for now because she will be 15 at best by november.

I'm kind of impressed with myself actually, the two decks I built were almost perfectly balanced. In every game played with them the losing player was one or, at most, two turns away from claiming victory themselves. One game actually ended in a tie

I'd be shocked if Jace dropped to the $18 he was but ya, you definitely have wait. Ajani was love $30+ at prerelease/release and is now $16. I think Jace in general though makes people go crazy and I still think he's a good PW.
