Okay guys, I think I need to trade for 3-4 Falkenrath Aristocrats...

Thragtusk is a lot better now that Titans and Wurmcoil are gone. The value with Restoration Angel is just disgusting.
 
The worst thing about Thragtusk? He makes matches take forever to finish.

EDIT: These commentators are hilarious. "Marc attacks, and finally knocks Elliott down to below 20! Achievement unlocked!" "Elliott now goes back to his natural habitat - the tank." 90 minute matches really bring out the snark - lol.

Completely agree. He's one of the durdliest cards ever created.

I drunk-bid on this, and won it. What should I do with it? Should I attempt to take the first layer of ink off with acetone and see if I can end up with a $40 force?

Either that or I'll just use it in my EDH deck.

Waiiiiit, you need 20 event tickets to enter the pre-release with the guild mark(s) you buy? You don't get the promo-card automatically? :|

(I just bought two guild marks for the promo cards because I wanted to dick about with both of them and for $5 for a promo-card plus a few boosters and tickets [I thought I read that right?] to enter the pre-release was pretty good but I must've misread. :|)

Have to e-mail Wizards for reimbursement I guess. I just wanted the promo cards and Ravnica stuff to dick with. :( I don't really want to do event draft or constructed as a casual player! D:

@Lucario: I doubt Acetone will allow you to remove the paint and leave the card fine. You're just asking to screw the card up even more. Face it, you screwed up. :p

Actually, I've tried to use acetone (as well as 90+% acetone nail polish remover) to take the ink off cheap older cards to end up with blanks for proxy. You have to scrub for 10+ minutes before they even lighten. My worry is that the top layer of ink was done a long time ago -- and considering that it's a 90s skating icon, that's extremely likely -- and won't be easy enough to scrub off without worrying about destroying the card underneath =\
 
Yeah, that's why I'm saying you screwed up. The paint is more than likely to ruin the card worse than it already is. :p Next time don't be on eBay while drunk.
 
Picked up Jace AoT #3, 2 foil Hinterlands and a normal. May have a trade with WanderingWind also.
Now just need 1 more Trostani, 1 more armada wurm, and one Angel of Serenity.
Temple Gardens and Hallowed Fountains I figure that I will just end up buying, it will probably be cheaper.

I was at the GP yesterday. Went 3-3 with my team. First time going to an event. I had no idea it would be so huge. It was much more fun than I expected, and traded for everything I could want.
 
for mtgo, I bought all the necessary stuff to take part in the pre-release, but was if you just joined a game from the release queue

EDIT: figured it out nvm

also, got 2 shocklands, one izzet and one selesnya

2 games in a row I get mana screwed to start the game.

last game I would've won if I had more then 3 fucking mana

also, the other guy was fucking filled with mana, and assassin'ed my trostani twice

I sometimes hate this game

I just want my Promo card (and a relevant booster for $5 in-credit) Wizards for my lack of reading, why aren't you working on a Sunday? ;__;
 
I would either hold or open. This would be a good time as any to play the pack opening game since getting a decent money rare will let you ride the hype train to profit.
 
Sweet, my friend Elliot Top 4'ed the Standard Open yesterday and is in the finals of the Legacy Open today. Hope he takes it down.

Edit: And he did, awesome. Guess I taught him well over the years.

Yeah I went 4-0, intentional draw last round for the top 8. geist/jace meta over here is too too big for rdw. I'd have to somehow make bonfire work in the deck, without it getting countered.
 
Open RTR, trade immediately. The sky is currently falling on the non-Mythics as the second/third printings are hitting dealers.

Also, U/W/r is positioned really badly atm, I think. People caught on and started running Slaughter Games.
 
Just tried out the Angel of Glory's Rise deck and it is really fun. Gonna test it a bit more on octgn but it may be the first real standard deck I build on MTGO, the other candidate being GW aggro, though there is enough overlap the two that I can probably play both as I feel like it.
 
Wizard's still hasn't e-mailed me back about the promo card(s) I wanted. T_T I'm sure they're laughing at it and then going to go "tough shit you didn't read. Enjoy your guild marks you can't do anything with!" D:

This looks fun as hell. Too bad it's so expensive to build. I can get shocklands over time, but it'll be hard to get cards like Aristocrat and my last Cavern without some aggressive trading.
 
Anyone have any fun builds or card interactions for Izzet? I've got a few cards set aside for an Izzet deck but I haven't had time to really put anything together.
 
Wiff'd on my fat pack. Got a Blood Crypt and a Sphinx's Revelation as my notables. Feeling like I'm done buying this set until prices level out and I can just buy singles.

Built an interesting life-gain bounce deck though that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I'll post the list later to see what you guys think I could do to upgrade it.

Hard to resist the pack urge, but definitely smarter to do it the way you are talking about and just pop a pack here and there to quell the dark passenger in us all.
 
For RTR I am just gunna do drafts at my uni's mtg club for cards. The buyin price is about the same as buying three packs and I get to pick and choose the cards I want so it's a win-win!

Yeah, it's a tough habit to break, but I think I need to knock it the hell off and stop spending so much money.

Went to the store to pick up some groceries last night, came back with 2 packs of RTR...

As I was opening the first I was thinking to myself, "Yeah I'll probably stop buying packs at this point. I've bought plenty."

But then I opened an Armada Wurm, and then a Dreadbore.

The last 2 packs I bought prior contained an Overgrown Tomb and a Deathrite Shaman.

Dammit. So now I want to keep buying packs because MONEY RARES, MONEY RARES EVERYWHERE.
