Ok just a couple minutes ago my computer suddenly shut down without warning. I hit the power button and it started back up. Then about 5 minutes later it shutdown again. I hit the power buttin again, but this time it didn't start up. After about a minute I hit the power button and it started again. By this time I had taken the cover off and was looking inside the cae. All the fans were turning. After another 5 minutes the computer shut down again. Anyone have any suggestions on what the problem may be.

PS Before it started shutting down. My computer was hanging up. I was getting no response, the mouse wouldn't move and the cap lock light would come on when i hit the caps lock button. Sound would stutter like a cd skipping. It happened several times and would last from between 10 to 30 seconds.

My computer's been really fucking up a lot lately, too.

It literally takes me 10 tries before I can get my computer started up (it either automatically restarts or gives me a random blue screen). After I get it started, the computer will freeze, crash, or restart within 15 minutes - never fails. This problem has been ongoing for several months.

I can't even start Windows in safe mode.

Not knowing what to do, not being particularly tech savvy, and just wanting to get it over with, I decided to buy a new computer a few days ago.

-$1,250 for me :(

Can anyone tell me what setting my power supply is suppose to be set too, 115V or 230V? I was checking it out and it seemed to be set to 115V. Could this be the problem with my computer?

Try removing any extra drives (CD/DVD, extra HDs) and any peripherals that suck power from your PC. If it works better, then it might be a PS issue. Connect them one by one and see when the problem starts up again. If the power supply is dying, it's a cheap and easy fix. Just grab a new one from Best Buy or something and install it yourself. It's pretty straightforward.
