Major PS4 System Software Update v2.0 Available NOW

really? how do you format it? cause when i connect my usb to the ps4, it does not recognise it
I'm not sure I did format it in the PS4 actually. It might have just created all the usual Sony folders when I copied my first screenshots across.

I think I used OS X Disk Utility to format it as ExFAT.

Add long as it's not online multiplayer, but couch multiplayer, yes, along as the host and guest have Plus...
I wonder how that work on a technical level. Because now you're no longer mirroring the screen like with Remote Play, you are streaming a copy of the game while the host plays the same game locally. Or something. Since you're both getting different views.

You could probably do it through Vita by Remote Playing then choosing SP

So what's left on the whine wish list?

DLNA - which if jeff_rigby is correct about will be coming once some bog thing happens with some update to the DLNA standard to tie in with something else I loose track of in his posts.

Suspend/Resume - needs to wait for some kind of update to BSD to make it stable.

Internal MP3 playback - because sticking a USB stick into a slot is just too inconvenient/ugly/USB port hogging (get a hub), and there's plenty o'room on those stock HDDs, with their whopping 500GB.

USB/internal video playback,
for all those family movies and completely legit 'backups', and not illegitimate copies that no-one has or wants this feature for.

Friend notifications.

PLUS...more stability,obvs. Can't be stable enough.

Going by that, I presume the update won't be available till later today.

Firmware updates are always early hours of the morning. I think 6AM UK time is the latest one i remember.

HDD backup. It was meant to be in this update but got cut.

I have terrible internet and there is just no way i'm re-downloading 400GB worth of games when i upgrade to a bigger drive.

Did Sony ever come out and say why they didn't just make a permanent app for music playback and only allow you to use a USB stick? I never even expected visualizers (PS3) or anything just a basic music app like the Vita app.

It's not different screens/views. Imagine playing Madden against a buddy at your house. You both look at the same exact screen. It works the same exact way as that..

At least that's a wishlist and not a whine IYSWIM.

In the gamestop article linked to upthread they mention they wanted to get one out quick, hence the USB playback, and are investigating making an internal one.

My guess is they'll wait on feedback to see if enough people bitch to make it worth adding to the development roadmap, especially since MP3 playback is a niche feature already (at least according to Sony's statements about it at launch).

But a game like say Diablo 3, the game centers the screen around you, the player. So both of you must have different views.

When you are both playing on the same TV? How does it do that on one screen? It can't give 2 people a different on the same screen.

Again, you can play couch coop, the same way you play with a buddy sitting in your living room on the same TV as you...

It will not play online multiplayer, like when you play with or against a friend who is at a different house on different TV's...

Share Play only lets you play local multiplayer.

No way Diablo centers on a person's individual character when playing locally on the same TV. That's impossible.

The iOS app update is available.

Looks better on iPhone 6 and the new home screen is an improvement. Still don't see the option to delete messages, unless I'm missing it. It would come in handy for group messages I always seem to get invited to.

Tap and hold on the message you want to delete.

I will have you know that I'm going to use the feature entirely for porn, thank you very much.

You could delete messages with the old version - hold a message with your finger and a delete message pops up.

How do I get my iOS to force an update for this app?
