There's always a bunch of stuff not advertised on the blog in major feature updates. The fact that they don't advertise pause downloads makes me hopefully for lots of small annoyances that they don't bother to mention.

I want to say that it checks between a certain time of day, typically 3am-5am est, for updates. If it detects nothing then it goes into full standby again. If an update is released after the check in time, then it won't be detected until you turn on the console again or until the next check in time. Not sure about anyone else, but when ever my PS4 is in "Stand By" (The orange light is lit on the console)and I have my Playstation to download automatically when in Stand By. So why is it when I get home turn on the console that the updates are starting to download when I boot it up. I thought "download in Stand by" means that it would turn on at a point (like the PS3 did) download and then go back into stand by. Am I missing anything?
Sweet. Custom backgrounds. Now all I need is something like this on my PS4.

Ideally, I'd like a push system or an ability to control how often the console checks or at what time it checks in.

Extra bits from the video.
I can do this too:
No *insert feature not included in update and disregard all included features*
Shit update!

No need for the dramatics since I didn't say that at all. It's far from a shit update. But that doesn't change the fact that it's super weak that they're continuing to ignore these incredibly basic and actually needed features.

So still no online friends notifications or the ability to post photos/videos to the What's New section.
So weak.
Have they said yet what the blue dot next to the Friends Online number indicates? I'm assuming that shows you're online but I'd like some confirmation.
See the video didn't mention the blue ball beside the online friends icon
Yeah, I've noticed this behavior before as well. Also sometimes it will say downloading and really quickly switch to installing. I think it waits to install everything when it is fully booted and occasionally will pop up a message saying it is downloading.

Pause and resume downloads? MEGATON!
I'm positive videos and pictures are posted in the What's New section already.
they didn't say but I was speculating in the other thread that is was status related due to how much it looked liek the established color for "online"

yep ever since using Plex on WiiU years ago, I couldnt give a shit about DLNA, much better performance, no setup, better organization, etc.Been using Plex through the web browser on mine,
Yeah I agree, im not too fussed with the lack of notifications considering the increase in the friends list.Needed is a very subjective and opinion based term. I feel friend notifications are FAR from needed.
Because the official change log comes with the release? How does Sony not understand that they should put out a full change list with this.
They never said that the update would allow you to bring party chat into streams. Thats something a lot of people wanted and the video just jumps over it to show you video filters.
Why do we have to "decode" screenshots to tell whats in their update. It's just crazy.
lol, the blog is down now?

For the full list of features in PS4 system software update (v2.00) and instructions for updating your PS4 system, please visit this page after the update goes live.
Pausing downloads? How useless.
Hmmm....I have my router setup for PSN like port forwarding, static ip, dmz, custom DNS settings etc... I don't know if that's why I never ran into those problems people have been talking about?
No, those were revealed at TGS with the Toro dynamic theme. I really hope that theme becomes available with this update; it is pretty great.

did the PS App Update already?
Can't be said enough. If Sony make this exclusive to the Japanese store then I will FUCKING END THEM!
Edit - That awful realisation that it took them almost an entire year to grant us the ability to pause downloads. Holy shit.
Is there a catch with share play, that sounds too good to be true.

They implemented an hour (or two?) timer that will stop the stream to prevent continuous streaming for other players without the game or the host having to be there...
But, the host can just reinitiate stream.
Have a question:remote play with Xperia Z3 will be it available tomorrow?
I really hope that hour time limit is only for the "take over the controller" part of SharePlay and not the co-op part.
