Major PS4 System Software Update v2.0 Available NOW

Maybe TC should update his OP to include pausable downloads in order to avoid any more confusion.

Anyways, it's a great update. Only DLNA and the Suspend feature are left.

Does the update have any stability fixes? I need some more of those.

lol share play is going to be amazing on the jump puzzle in destiny VoG

Publishers can opt out of allowing share play during Alpha / Beta's

I saw that a few times in the original big thread.

BUT, that does leave the door open for them to forget to opt out lol

God damn it Gaf, what have you done to me...

I see this thread get bumped, and every time, I read "Major Nelson: PS4 system software update" and it gives me a second of "WTF?"

So still no online friends notifications or the ability to post photos/videos to the What's New section.

So weak.

Already there when you Upload the picture to Twitter or FB. And videos probably too when hosted on FB and with Youtube support you have now a second option available

So maybe inform yourself how your PS4 works before start complaining hm ?

"Include Party Audio in Broadcast"

That's probably the biggest hidden feature to me. I always though the broadcaster should be able to add the party to a Twitch stream because otherwise you are listening to a one-way conversation.

There better be a Bloodborne dynamic theme, or im flying to Japan, bending YOSP over his desk and giving him a good ol'fashioned prison date.

And crap, I need to buy a flash drive to hold my music now.

Free themes don't look that interesting to me, hopefully we get some cool paid ones soon.

I hope 2.0 doesnt brick my PS4..:)

You are one of the most consistent shit-posters I've ever seen. You pick an unfounded prediction (TLOU:R 30FPS), FUD it around at every opportunity with the conviction of someone who actually knows, are proven wrong, then disappear. Just stop. That kind of nonsense poisons GAF.

Or maybe they could make that option available to the people who don't want game images and videos cluttering up their facebook and twitter accounts and would rather post it on the What's New section so people who would actually care about the content can see it?

But it has to be hosted somewhere. When you upload to Facebook, it stays there. If it were to just go into What's New, Sony would have to host it. And that would take up a lot of space if everyone did it.

I agree. I just made a dummy Twitter account for pics and stuff. I've never wanted to use Facebook period, but I'd like some other way to upload videos. I guess you could use a USB drive, but still.

I just wish i could upload screenshots to a hosting site like imgur straight from my ps4, even if I had to do it manually from the browser.

Then make a second Twitter or FB account just for that ? Cost you only 1min. of your life or maybe 2 when you need another free email account. It's there and it works so stop pretending that it's not.

Facebook is checking up on dummy accounts, which is stupid IMO.

Earlier this year, in its Q2 2012 earnings report, Facebook disclosed that 4.8 percent of its accounts were either "duplicate" accounts (meaning that one person was operating more than one profile) or being used for nefarious purposes that violate Facebook's rules.

It's probably a move to make Facebook look and feel more serious than it actually is. They've turned FB into this fortress for people to live and share photos. I think it's just a place for other companies to gather and collect personal data. Many people make money off that sort of thing these days. Why do you think telemarketers call and ask if you're so & so living at this and that place or if you're still receiving a certain product. It's all about data collection. You think privacy is just turning off comments. It's way larger than that. As a PS user you shouldn't have to be affiliated with another corporation out there.

There's a lot of ethics in there, but it comes down to exploitation and putting a place holder in the way of an actual person.

I have had a few Twitter accounts, then I realized I didn't want people saying "oh, Northeastmonk just sent a Tweet. He's that type.. oh well". Screw that!

Then give us an option to post a link on the What's New section that launches the YouTube app at least. If they're too cheap to host it themselves then at least feign connectivity and let us post a direct link for our friends instead of having to copy and paste it in a message or shoot them a text over our phones. It's just another way that the UI feels empty and disjointed.

Exactly the type of thing we shouldn't have to do. Having to find workarounds for something this simple is mind blowingly lame.

But that's the thing. Now that we can upload to Youtube, whenever you do that it will post in the What's New section.

Is there anyway to kickstart the update remotely? I know the ps4 will download the update on its own, but it wont install. I wont be at my ps4 till friday :(

More than likely this will happen automatically.

I agree. They should provide some more options when it comes to this that are not tied to Facebook/Twitter. Specifically a locker that simply stores and does not "share". Like dropbox, google drive, Amazon's or Microsoft's version and so forth. A place to store and separately link at will without sharing your info to the world.

Just to make sure, are you thinking that posting videos to YouTube won't add them to the What's New section? They are fixing what you're talking about. They just need to add Imagur for screen captures.

They are. It's YouTube. And it's coming in this update.

Rumor has it that it's 720p 30fps. Wonder how that will affect BF4.

It more than likely is, since it's the exact same technology as Remote Play. People need to realize it's not a perfect solution, as it's still remote streaming. This is to:

A) Give people a chance to play non-online games with friends over the internet
B) Get assistance on really tough parts
C) Let people test out a game before buying it, since demos are pretty sparse these days.

Then give us an option to post a link on the What's New section that launches the YouTube app at least.

But it already posts your videos in the what's new section when you publish them to Facebook. I'd imagine it's the same for YouTube when it comes. That's better than posting a link in the what's new section, IMO.

This could get annoying but it's a small price to pay for Share Play, I guess:

Via GameSpot Interview:

"Once a guest finishes a Share Play session, an icon of the game they have just played appears on their PS4 home page. This is essentially a shortcut link to the game's corresponding PS Store page."

I assume you'll be able to delete it like any other icon.

If that's indeed what they're doing then it's passable. Just as long as it shows up in some way on the What's New section then I'm good with it. Imagur for screens would be awesome.

Do you mean imgur? I'd rather they added somewhere that doesn't hurt image quality through compression. There should be at least one of those.
