Major PS4 System Software Update v2.0 Available NOW

Okay, people who have been able to successfully link their YT account to their consoles:
Does PS4 show up in the Account Permissions page of your YT account? I've only got PS Vita showing up.

Just trying to figure out why the hell this shit isn't working for me.

So what is up with this "Only your last 15 recent apps" appearing, and the rest getting thrown in the Library?

This is supposed to be an improvement?

this updated bricked my ps4...keeps crashing and restarting en trying to rebuild database then it just turns of and does all of that again

How does it structure the music? Does it recognise subfolders (for example if I have an artist/album subfolder structure under music does it sort them that way), or is it based on metadata? Or nothing at all?

Well I only tried it with one album, I got this latest album of Alice in Chains, what I did was just to drag and drop the album(folder) in the music folder. When I clicked on the USB music on PS4 it first displayed the album(subfolder). Haven't tried to load more albums in there, but I guess they structure it based on your first example.

Can the ps4 read music directly off an iPhone? There is no way I am going to re organise all my music playlists manually like you had to in a the psp days.
Can iPhone be a mass storage device (usb pen) ? Can you make a 'music' folder in root? If both are 'yes' then it should work.

Push the more button on the home screen. Push the top bar and select search. That's how you do it now.

wow, that's pretty hidden... why did they dump it there and remove it from the obvious [Face+] button that signifies add friend.

Who is the UX designer responsible for this? Fire that guy and hire me instead! :D

You can turn it off. I forget where exactly but when I installed the update, it notified me that you could turn that feature off.

Just tried watching a YT video while playing BF4, and you can't switch between them by double-tapping the PS button like you can with everything else. Instead, you have to press it once to take you back to the UI, then go into TV/Video and manually select YT, it then tells you that to use this app you have to suspend the game that is currently running (but it doesn't close it). To get back into your game you just press the PS button once to go back to the UI, select the game, and it will take you right back to what you were doing.

I'm disappointed by that, to be honest. You can switch seamlessly between Twitch streams and your game with a double-tap of the PS button, so why not YT? I really hope they fix that.

It's the same with all apps, such as Netflix. They all suspend your game. Live from Playstation is different, as it isn't a separate app, but part of the main menu system.

the assumption is you are more likely to want to use a recently used game/app, and reducing the infinitely scrolling horizontal list helps you get to the library more quickly. To me that is a clear improvement (although they could put the library on the far left so it is always one click away)

You can turn if off if you want.

Played Fifa and DC via remote play, works well

Wait....I thought this only worked on Vita? And you can use a PS4 controller?

I didn't have time to notice you could turn it off, nice. I was also checking this out through my Vita while I was in a rush before work, so some details got by me. Not a bad feature then. I hope for folder support in the future though.

The themes are actually pretty cool, they're called 'static' but they all move at least as much as the default PS4 theme and they change all button noises and the menu music, awesome.

standby/rest mode has been working perfectly fine for me.

i've rested and resumed my PS4 over 10 times since and no issues with it freezing or anything.

I take it you guys asking about how to set the USB up for MP3 didn't have PS3s?

Nope. PSP and PS3 owner.

Just thought that the PS4 OS would be able to find media files anywhere on the selected drive like most devices nowadays. Only a minor hindrance though.

So long as it reads East Asian text in id3tags. I'm good.

Give me FLAC and WAV support eventually too

Plugged my iPhone 6 in and it is only being charged, nothing else. Same for all the other Apple devices then.
Whelp looks like I won't be using that feature then. I think it was my 360 that could read the iTunes config xml on the device and instantly knew all playlists/songs. Made playing music off the device so easy.

My video's wont upload to youtube. anyone else have similar problems? i link my youtube account with my SEN but then it just keeps looping asking me to link accounts again.

Trying to use the USB Music Player feature and I seem to get a weird problem. When the USB is entered rather than the 'USB Music Player' popping up on the XMB I'm automatically taken to 'My Library'... anybody know why?

Just because it says USB stick doesn't mean anything. Theoretically if you have a USB connected device as long as the directory is in the right place it should work. If you are jail broken you could create a /music folder on the base directory and it may work. Once I get home I will try with my android and see if that works for it at least.
