Yo, my PS4 crashed when I wanted to connect my YouTube account. Now it's checking system memory. What the hell.

They're restricted in remote play so I imagine it will be the same via SharePlay.

Got the update, played a little Destiny, then put it into Rest Mode (why did they change that from Standby?). Tried to start my PS4 again about an hour later... nothing. Finally got it after pulling the power cord and plugging it back in. Anyone else?

I see. I didn't know that because I don't use any of the other apps. I'm still a little disappointed, though. I would have liked to be able to switch between the two seamlessly for game guides and trophy help and such.
First time it "stuck", I had updated, messed around, logged out and was out for a good 90 min (6:30 til right around 8 AM). Wouldn't boot. During my testing with the fixes proposed, I wait about 3 to 4 min between going into rest and trying to bring it back up.
About 50% of the time, it's fine.....

Sorry lol. I'm sure there are lots of features I've missed before.
I left my TV on throughout the process and it went to hard orange as usual. Before this update though I did have blinking orange issues if I shut my TV off prior to the signal being sent to it via HDMI to return to the input it was on prior to automatically switching to the PS4 input.

ok, so it feels like I just downloaded a virus or something. cant find any of the updated features and now the system is acting glitchy. have you ever wanted something so bad, and when you got it, it wasnt what you expected. yeah......

Just rebuild database and if that doesn't work, reinstall the firmware.

The usb stick needs a folder called 'music'. Any files in that folder are read by the music player. Fwiw Apples 'walled garden' has nothing to do with it.

So I like the new home screen for the phone app. Seeing 6 of your friend that are online is nice, as is seeing some activity stuff.
But I could not facepalm any harder when I clicked into the friends list only to see it now defaults to "all friends". In what world would "online friends" not be the default? It always was before, but people wanted "all friends" instead? Yeah, no, they didn't. How could the team working on this app think this was a good idea? It's not possible.
Yeah, they did a great job at making that more confusing, but you can still send friend requests from the app. You have to hit the drop down menu, and go to "search". An incredibly dumb change.

Couldn't link with YouTube account and my Rest mode hung for 15 minutes before I forced powered down.

YouTube app playback looks like its still limited to 720p max like the other TV apps. Using the iPad app for browsing and starting videos on PS4 is instantaneous though.
The new rest shutdown screen looks nice. The friends online indicator blob is redundant and looks ugly downscaled when another top-row icon is highlighted.
Different background colours look nice but some colours highlight the shitty background 3D anti-aliasing more than others. I downloaded the free themes from the Japanese store and the rectangles 3D theme also suffers from the shitty AA.

I don't think it has any (user) video playback capability right now, so it kind of sucks for media use.
Same as '<USERNAME> just played Netflix'

Not just MKV, there's no video file playback whatsoever. And obviously this USB Player thing is just a temporary solution until they get DLNA implemented. I hope.
You can turn that off in your System Settings. Then everything shows up.

1) They really need to add the ability to hide things in the library. I don't need the Destiny Alpha and Beta to show up there anymore, as well as demos I never intend on buying (hello backgammon blitz)

Can we just unplug them and plug it back in to take it out of standby? I know you're not supposed to do that but it seems necessary in this situation.
It's because modern Android phones use MTP instead of the USB Mass Storage protocol. Sony needs to add USB MTP support for more recent phones to work
Probably if your phone supported MSC storage. It'll just pop up with 'File System is unsupported' if it only does MTP and the camera one.

First so far, heard no other reports so far.
He might be able to recover it, update on USB and boot up into recovery mode.

There are tweaks that are available for rooted phones, haven't got it to work yet but working on it.

The recovery mode in the PS4 is so much better than the PS3. I think it'll be pretty rare that we see complete bricks this time around.

Ugh these sorting options are even more barebones then I thought it was gonna be. Sony please how hard can it be to have it just like Vita where I can customize the order of the games in my library how I want it. Allow us to customize what games and apps show up in the main UI Bar, not just the 15 recent. Wii U and Vita do this right and it's just so much better.
