Major PS4 System Software Update v2.0 Available NOW

wow, that's pretty hidden... why did they dump it there and remove it from the obvious [Face+] button that signifies add friend.

Who is the UX designer responsible for this? Fire that guy and hire me instead! :D
lol, I've been thinking the same. :P Lots of headscratchers I tell you, but they're at least improving several things bit by bit.

Ok so a question since I am at work. If a friend sends you a game invite for TLOU for example, does it show on the left of your screen directly? Or do you still have to go through the tedious process of pressing home button, going to notifications, clicking the button, opening up the screen and accepting it? Or is it instantaneous as it should have been?

They need to allow custom themes. That way, I never have to worry about paying for such things since like the LBP community, gamers are bound to create something more creative and depending if a designer makes it, better designed theme as well. I think part of the reason is that ux/ui designer has to worry about more things than making another custom theme, though I imagine they probably love doing it. :P

Other than allowing folders with some proper customization, they have most of the major big features for me now. Suspend/resume game is nice but not vital.

Guys, the USB music app/icon that I've seen in the screenshots isn't in my line of icons... Do you have to turn something on in settings?

after installing the update it made a database rebuild, isnt that normal? mine is working fine though well at least the little test i did

on a side note it seems you can update apps i manually

It always does that after an update, seems to help a lot.

I like to think it helps with Share issues too.

So I guess online status changes aren't in? Not seeing it on any lists. Appear offline would have been so great. Maybe next update. Glad to see friends lists and messages are working properly again, though.

I don't think the app is region locked or something. I had issue with Signing in on Youtube app as well. At first it gave me error but when I pressed sign in again it logged me in.

I will try it again, and see if I have any joy.

Edit - Still getting an error when I try to log in.

Tried SharePlay with a friend.....says I can't play his game because his connection speed is too slow, lmao. I think he has a 1MB upload speed or something. XD

So after reading about the 'rest mode' glitch (before i updated), here is what I did, and I have avoided any issue, for whatever it's worth. What I was reading seemed like it could get bugged when going directly into rest mode after the update is applied, maybe something slightly corrupted, and then users pull the plug and it needs a scary dB rebuild. To avoid it, I:

- applied update
- turned off PS4 completely
- turned on PS4
- went to Rest mode

And it seems fine. I recommend doing a full power off after you update, just once.

by "full power off" do you mean simply turning off PS4 or unplugging it?

Thank you for this. I'm at work reading about this and was too scared to turn it on this morning. Will do this once I get home. Was your PS4 in standby mode prior to you doing the update or turned off?

Three things on the USB player:

The need to have a MUSIC folder on the thumbdrive will be the cause of much tech support. Silly decision.

And, of course I just grabbed an old thumb drive and loaded it with some tunes (it is ok with subfolders within MUSIC so that's good), and I plan on leaving it there just for that purpose. It was already was being used for local save backup. But now when I boot it assumes I've just inserted the thing and defaults to that icon, which is a bit silly.

Finally, the PS button long-press access to the 'brief' music player is good - it's always been there - but the new verbiage about Rest Mode and layout of the screen pushes it 'below the fold' which is silly, as you can't see it at first, and have to dpad your way down to it, minor annoyance but they should float that player to the top when it is active.

Had the console in sleep mode last night. Woke up to finish installing the update before class, it went through a database rebuild, but everything was fine after. No issues yet, hopefully it stays that way.
