Major PS4 System Software Update v2.0 Available NOW

speed is not the real problem - most people have 5Mbs at least.... problem is latency between the servers. Further away you are, higher the latency and unplayable the "servers".

It has to be decent connection in the same or near state.

I played with a friend who lives in the same city as me (it's not a big city) and it was laggy.

Played with a friend in New york and it was flawless when he hosted because his college campus has a really good connection. Kill Zone Shadow fall had no lag at all.

Does anyone know how to make it so that if you're streaming, the stream hears your party chat as well as you? The streamer is the party leader, but the "Allow Your Voice to be Shared" option is grayed out.

Although the speed test prior to share play is a good road block - that kicks out practically every user in Australia because of our third world upload speeds - they really need a quick latency check as well. Almost no game is going to be fun if the latency is 200ms+ due to ISP peering issues or sheer geographical distance.

I need some help from you guys. Switched stock hard rive with a 2 TB-drive some days ago. Never had my Vita registered as a remote-play-device since then. Now I can't register my Vita as a remote-play-device with FW2.00 and Vita-Fw 3.35.

PS4 is discovered by the Vita but then states that the connection to the PS4-system has failed. Another user is using Remote Play with the PS4-System.

Could someone please verify:
* If remote-play with Vita is generally working?
* If a Vita can be registered as a new remote play device with FW2.00?

FYI: Network is fine. All devices are discovered and worked flawlessly before. Also was able to connect the Vita as a 2nd screen...

Please help!

FFS, do you understand latency?
12500 kms away?
that someone can actually play west to east coast without too much lag is amazing.

It costs over 100ms to ping across the pacific ocean. The lower limit is bound by, you know, the speed of light.

People were saying there was no lag at similar distances with their Vitas. We were lead to believe SharePlay would give the same performance. Doesn't seem like that's the case at all.

The update broke the HDMI interface somehow. It no longer finds the TVs supported resolutions and I get no sound. Apparently this affects some samsung ( and LG ) smart tv models. I have a 65F9000

Great... they better fix this soon.

it is certainly possible that your friend in same city used torrents at the same time or that his ISPs connection to yours simply isnt good.

It is kind of easy to see whats going on by tracing his ip... he can for instance check his ip (google search "my ip") and then you trace his ip via cmd line (cmd.exe and then tracert ip)

lots of people said that fixed it for them and few said it didnt (next time when they tried sleep)... try it out again IMHO. I dont think anyone posted about not being able to restart it.

Yeah it did it again holding the button did nothing had to unplug it. Never an issue before this update looks like ill be saving a little more power now.

So I updated just now, worked fine, put it into rest mode, and then noticed the standby (orange) light was blinking. I tried turning on the system and it literally wouldn't turn on, so I unplugged it. Turned it on and it had to rebuild the database...it's fine (and on) now but now I'm scared to turn it off, s i g h

obviously you have no idea about what you are talking about. People who tried it with Vita said that it works better with shareplay, likely due to updated software... it is same software thats behind remote play as well.

I haven't updated to 2.0 yet, but mine was doing exactly that last night. Vita connects direct to PS4 (no router) and it would see the machine, connect, then fail. First time it's done it, and it did it about 10x before i finally restarted both and it worked. I'll update with my experience tonight. Hoping this brings some good bug fixes and stability, my PS4 has been pretty spotty since launch.

Some other people have the same issue. Best to turn it off completely instead of rest mode for now until it's fixed.

Same. I actually had it in standby earlier and now i checked and saw the blinking orange light. Not putting my PS4 in standby anymore.

Hmm. YouTube Leanback works great, but logging into my Google account via the app seems to not work.

Anyone else having this issue? Maybe I'm putting in the wrong password or something.

I've never wanted to pause a download in my life. I've always wanted a fast forward button, but that's apparently "unrealistic". Fascists.

cannot install any of the themes i downloaded. i keep getting an error. when i check my downloaded themes, there's a lock icon on the bottom right.

Ok then those gaffers were full of shit, don't bust my balls for it. Seems like a useless feature for anyone wanting to play with friends at any decent distance.

12,500km. that's nearly 1/3 of the way around the globe.

Yep.

I had the same problem. Restoring licenses did the trick.

does shareplay depend on upload speeds? because most basic cable internet services have shit uploads (just look at all the live on playstation streams that can't even hit HD)

Ok! Fixed it! You can skip the automatic discovery and register manually by clicking the button on the lower right hand side. Then you can enter the code and it works!

Well yeah. The host has to upload the most of course, but the client still needs to upload his inputs as fast as possible. Best advice is to only use it with people in a close location and also hook up the PS4 to ethernet.

So looking for the Toro theme I stumbled upon this here, anyone know what it is?

I played some Towerfall and Spelunky with a friend over SharePlay, and it worked better than I expected. Definitely some noticeable latency no matter who was hosting, but still completely playable. Quite impressive.

Yeah, this update broke my ability to put it in standby too. That sucks since that also means I can't use remote play with my Vita until this is fixed since my PS4 won't wake from standby. I was wondering why it wouldn't connect.

folks keep mentioning tracert, but ping would be the more appropriate tool to quickly measure latency from a windows box.

Listening to music while playing a game often makes everything laggy as fuck. Trying to play Strider and my commands get stuck while the music stutters. Like, it will remember that I was running left and do so indefinitely despite me mashing all of the buttons. It comes back after a few seconds, but god damn is this annoying.

Remote play via Vita is working fine, I'm in a hotel playing Destiny right now.

I updated and everything seems to be working okay (Surprisingly). Except I can't download the Youtube app for some reason. Yay...

How do you remove things from the Library? I've got shit in there like War Thunder I deleted ages ago. As if the UI couldn't be any worse, instead of having to scroll horizontally for an age to find games I haven't played in a while, I now have to scroll right to the Library, then scroll down and root through every F2P game I downloaded and deleted. Lame!!!!

The PS3 UI library organisation was great with the folders etc, how the hell did they fuck PS4 up so much?

I assume other people are having troubles signing into the Youtube app right now, because I've tried like 20 times and nope, SERVER COMMUNICATION ERROR.

I am getting really pretty pissed with PSN recently. Sonys trying to run it way too razor thin, and while I appreciate they don't have the infinite money of their direct competitor to setup 1000 servers for every byte, its bordering on becoming way too unusable these days.
