Major PS4 System Software Update v2.0 Available NOW

I'm sad. I can't use share play with anyone of my friends causes slow internet connection :( wont work on either end. Thanks a lot ISP companies that can't get on with the times!
 
I've spent a couple hours using the PS4 since 2.0 now and the only thing that's worse is the pointless blue blob next to the friends online number. It doesn't scale down cleanly when another top-row icon's highlighted.

Have people with the rest(standby) issue tried turning off USB Power? The new supply power for three hours option is the only thing I can see that they changed and I've always had it set off with no issues and no fan noise whatsoever.
 
My experience wither rest bug has been similar to others:

-installed and patched Lords of the Fallen, I out I into rest mode before playing anything so I could watch a hockey game. When I went to turn it on i saw that I got the blinking orange light

-Hard reset it, it checked my storage and then froze on boot up

-Restarted the console, it checked my storage again and then it was able to boot into the system like normal.

I have played a couple games since with no issue thus far, but haven't tried any of the other stuff from the update. I did rest mode again, but now that I see its a common issue I am going to power it down completely until the issue is resolved. The rest bug incident was rather stressful for me, thought my unit was toast.
 
Has Sony been made aware of this "Ps4 in stand by problem"? I can't imagine it's good for your HDD to rebuilt after doing this.

Its happened to me once, so frig using that now.
 
It froze for me once the first time I tried to boot it back up, but it seems fine now. Such a weird issue. At least the Shareplay works surprisingly great. Towerfall and Sportfriends are still awesome as ever.

I wouldn't think it would be that, unless it is limited to some USB devices. I am using my PS4 USB port to power my Astro Mixamp Pro (using it on both my PC and PS4) and haven't had any issues with the rest mode (I have started up and entered rest mode multiple times today).

I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but I did turn off the three hour usb power option.

Before update 2.0 I didn't have options for 'Input Device' and 'Output Device' here, so there appears to be at least some other changes made.

I eventually had to unplug my PS4, and then plug it back in and power on.

It was ok, it did its normal "You shouldn't do it that way, ya know!" and went to the dashboard like normal.

I've been trying to do that but it hasn't restarted. I'll still keep trying.
 
im scared of this update. i'm gonna wait a few days maybe sony will release a better bug free one?
is this the best thing to do?? somebody comfort me
 
Share play just blew my mind. You have 1 hour sessions, yet 2 seconds later you reconnect silky smooth and fast, and my Internet is good but it runs better than some online games. Was playing with friends....games I don't own, but they do..it was beautiful I tell ya.
 
Who in their right mind decided these flow colours? Why is there 3 different shades of blue? (Not including purple uggh)

Where is my green??

If anyone encounters this, go to connection settings and check your ip address. It may be in conflict with another device, as in my case. You can either power cycle your router/modem, or set up a connection on the ps4 and instead of setting ip address to automatic, do manual. Change the last digit(s) to something unoccupied(I changed from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.12) and set whatever you had as default for everything else.
 
Has anyone tried out share play? I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for the co-op variant? I don't think I have any local co-op other than Towerfall, and Diablo 3, but I don't think D3 would work co-op over share play.

I'm sure you could try it with Diablo 3, but I don't know why you would, considering the online is basically perfect. Edit: Forgot you could be able to play it without the other person owning it.

Knack and Octodad are the only other ones I can think of that only have local co-op.
 
How incompetent do you have to be to issue an update that ruins the standby/rest mode and not notice it during QA? Jesus. Good thing I got the 2 yrs extra warranty.

If it was ruined, it wouldn't be working for anybody. Mine is working fine

Noy saying there is no problem though, but its not affecting everyone and I'm sure it will be fixed.
 
The rectangular theme is cool. It's impossible to read anything on the Friends List with the Destiny theme without going into the Friends List itself. I think I'll be switching between Flow and Rectangular every now and then now.
 
I was able to finally learn how to power off my ps4 manually (never had to do it until now) and it turned off, rebuilt the database, showed the "do not unplug" warning and booted up normally. So don't use standby until a fix is released lol
 
When entering Rest Mode, there is no light whatsoever on my PS4. Maybe it's powered off completely? Tried to download from PS Store, queue is "Waiting", doesn't start downloading.
 
What happened to being able to press down when on a game tile and it gave full screen art of the game and all the info about it?

edit: nevermind, my home screen must've just been lagging hard.
 
Shareplay is the best thing ever. Hardly any lag on Diablo3 and few hiccups on NBA 2k15. Tho anyone else had this issues with the host losing his mic(can't chat) in party chat while playing in NBA 2k15? Didn't happen with Diablo but once he loaded up NBA, his mic icon disappears.

Good. Don't unplug that power cable. Increases your chances of corrupting OS data on the hard-drive. Not sure why people are doing that instead of holding the Power button...(shit is cray).
 
I've been trying share play with a friend over in the states and some of the games for share play are region/content locked. I've tested metal gear solid:gz and fifa 15 my friend tried shadow of mordor and battlefield 4. we got the region locked on fifa 15 and shadow of mordor, metal gear worked fine and so did battlefield 4 so i think not every game will be playable with the region/content lock on it. we tried it both ways to connect aswell.

I also think there should be a list of what games should be region/content locked for share play

works with shareplay (us/uk):
Battlefield 4
Metal Gear Solid : Ground Zeroes

doesnt work with shareplay (us/uk):

Fifa 15
shadow of mordor

Yeah, my brother doesn't have the game on the PS4. I mainly just want to test it to see how it works, etc. For D3, don't you need a second PSN to sign in and make a character in order to play 2p?
 
Question:
Does the PS Store have a separate category for themes or are they hidden somewhere deep?

Because till last night I couldn't see any themes on the store....

Yeah there have been accounts of people not having issues with rest-mode at all. Seems to be a bug of some kind that happens sporadically tho... (safe thing to do is not use it until it's fixed)

If it works like local play, you just have to pick another user or create a new one. No PSN required unless you want to go online.

This. Nobody wants Music or Movies Unlimited. They are horrible services compared to the variety of competing products. You're not alone...the forced presence of certain apps and these bullshit tiles pisses me right off.

Dear Sony, for fuck sake, just give us folders, manually organizable game tiles, DLNA, a PLEX app, and thumb drive movie playback and stop it with all the bullshit features that most people don't give a shit about. Giving us a couple lame themes is not a "feature".

On the other hand, Game Sharing is a cool feature even if I doubt ill have a use for it anytime soon. And at least I'm among the people who had a smooth upgrade to v2.0. No problems with hanging on wakeup from rest.
 
I still can't sign in to youtube with my main account. I could sign in with my empty google account no problem, but now i can't sign out of! The "link with other services" option just times out.... why the hell do i even need to sign out of youtube through the main os settings anyway? Some real classic psn fuckery going on here.

Someone on Google+ reports that the orange pulsing only happens in rest mode if you have power to the USB ports. If you have that turned off, rest mode works as before.

Seems like Sony wanted to have the power light show when power was going to the USB ports but broke something in the process.

best thing do do is download the update but simply don't use stand-by for now

all that information, along with What's new is pulled from servers so it's probably not loading due to network traffic.
