Major PS4 System Software Update v2.0 Available NOW

So I might be nitpicking, but on the PS3 we had custom themes, backgrounds, wallpapers, sounds and then dynamic themes etc. They were tons of awesome themes to download and use them on the system. But the one thing that I kept experiencing was the break in immersion, when I turn on the system it defaults to the original theme and then after logging in, the custom theme immediately shows up. I just didn't like this transition on the PS3 and the same thing exists on the PS4. Is there anyone out there who's disappointed with this issue?

I admit i haven't been following the thread, but is there a general consensus that rest/standby is broken? I've been putting my PS4 to rest and awaking it numerous times today since the 2.0 update and i have had no problems.

Doesn't affect me that much anyway as most of the time I just boot the system and move around the house doing something else and when I come back it's all booted up...

But one thing that I have experienced it is that when that epilepsy warning message appears, the PS4 stutters and freezes momentarily there.

I'm sure this has been asked already, but I'm assuming you can't stream while using share play, while video recording is enabled, correct?

I'm trying to figure out why they thought it was necessary to show the controller notification every time I go back to the main UI. If this is their way of displaying battery info without having to hold down the PS button, it's bad design. Just surface it on the main UI somewhere.

Wallpaper immersion? Is such a thing even possible?

UI seems so much more faster. Don't like initial themes, but I'm glad that support for that is finally there. I'm guessing there are far more resources available for theme developers for the ps4 compared to the ps3. Hopefully we'll see far more ambitious themes than poorly animated 2D art. I don't use sleep mode but kinda baffled how those issues slipped through testing.

My PS4 won't enter "rest" mode all the way now. :/ It has the fans on jet engine setting, goes to no image on the screen, and you can't turn it off without a hard reset.

It's done this three times now.

Hey, you guys have been begging for a start up sound. There it is.

Mine just worked, I had issues before this update due to a HD upgrade.

Wow, those themes are pretty ugly. The Spiral one is kind of neat, but it's so busy. It really makes the PS4 interface seem cluttered... I miss the PS3 XMB, it was a simple thing of beauty.

I cannot wait for a Last of Us theme. Also, if we could bring back the ability to dim the background that'd be great. (Also adjust music/sound volumes)

Just did the update and downloading YouTube. I def will not be doing "rest" for a few days until the kinks are worked out. Everything else seems to be good. Store and menus are really fast. Liking it so far. I think my first SharePlay will be AC Unity. I have it paid for DD day one. If anyone wants to check it out with me I will be on at midnight day one. the 11th is a holiday in the US and I have the day off from work! Woot!

Not an issue exactly but it happened a few times. This notifcation would pop up saying something about my mic not being able to control my playstation. I wasnt even trying to do that i was just playing destiny.

Ok.

This is fucking amazing.

Rectangular and Paper are simply phenomenal.

The Destiny theme has GREAT music as well.

What bothers me (sorry I can't help it) is that every time you jump into the system menu while running a game, you'll notice a quick transition from the original theme to the custom one. Happened the same with ps3 themes.

Good. Don't unplug that power cable. Increases your chances of corrupting OS data on the hard-drive. Not sure why people are doing that instead of holding the Power button...(shit is cray).

When the rest mode hangs (blinking yellow light bar) the hard reset function stops working. You actually HAVE to plug it out. I tried hard resetting multiple times, it did nothing.

Luckily no problems since then.

EDIT: Are you fucking kidding me it just did it again, lol

I noticed that as well, also when you're on the main UI and go to settings, the background
image changes from the current theme to the default blue (or navy blue in Destiny's case) flow theme.

Kind of annoying lol.

I'd like an Okami theme now, with Reset playing in the background :D

Best thing to do is probably avoid rest mode for a few days until it gets sorted. Anytime my system freezes up and I have to literally unplug it while it's on I die a little inside. Fallout 3 on the ps3 about killed me.

Did the update and got everything downloaded and installed. I just turned the sucker off all the way. Really, I have nothing to back up, anyway so I might just let it stay this way until AC Unity. Done with Shadow of Mordor and Crimes and Punishment is not really doing it for me as I had hoped.

My standby worked the first few times. Just wait for it :)

See, yeah....nope. lol

Destiny and CoD themes are eye sores. Will try Spiral and Rectangular some other day, but right now I like the deep blue flow theme.

Hope theme designers recognize that minimal is better.

there's definitely a Youtube Sign In issue. probably on Youtube's end. Can't seem to upload my clip to my youtube account and can't sign in on the app. Probably something up with the API or something.
