What's your upload speed? I've never ever needed a good upload speed before but I checked online and my upload speed is a meagre 1.8m. Is this enough or do I need to needle Virgin for cutting back in order to force me (once again) to pay more money?
I just feel like it's UI is cluttered up and I have to choose my subscribers to check there newest videos. It's better and faster than the PS3 version for sure but I just like the HTML of the browser for it's simplicity plus I don't have to open up and an entire app to use it just the PS4 web browser which is very fast. Glad your enjoying it though

I would say 5mbps upload is needed for smooth experience though 1.8 might be enough to get the lower quality stream going.
I'm not and never suggested you should ignore the problems - I was just pointing out the difference between launching a service day one with a relatively small installed base is a different matter to launching it simultaneously across a platform with a MUCH higher number of users.
I did also suggest that at least part of the problem may lie with Google. The app was developed by them and the issue was authenticating to their servers after all.
For some reason the 2.0 update disabled the "connect to internet in standby" setting for me.
You should check if yours is too, it's in the power saving category.
No standby problems here though I did have one issue. I noticed that the sound on my Sony wireless headset was cutting out when I had a USB HDD plugged in at the same time. It seems the PS4 cannot supply enough power to the USB ports to drive both simultaneously. I wonder if this is the same as the headset problems mentioned above.
I use Music Unlimited and it's fine. In the past I've subscribed to Google Play Music and Spotify and Sony's service is as good as either of them with a similar catalogue, price, and feature set. *shrug*

So just reporting here that The Evil Within crashed for me the very first time after this update. It basically hanged at a black screen after all the logos and stuff, although I was easily able to get back to dashboard using PS button and try to close it, it crashed with an error instead.
Dunno if this happened because I was downloading a bunch of stuff at that time and had the COD theme applied. Haven't repeated it again though.

Not an excuse. Sony's had years of practice with the even larger install base of the PS3. Why should the PS4 get a pass? They didn't lose all of their smarts crossing over into the new gen.

If you want to get from store on PS4. Go to Games > Extras
Or you can go to Settings > Themes > Download from PS Store

There's a "Themes" section in the Settings menu (the same menu that has Network, Saved Data Utility, etc)

It's also worth noting at you can use the browser YouTube app while playing games, but you can't with the YouTube application. Personally, I think this is ridiculous. A smart phone has better multitasking abilities than the ps4. It's really frustrating.

Seems like we have to open the NEW tab in notifications and manually press the options menu and select "Mark All As Read" for them to disappear. =/

Yeah, mine fails to come out of rest every single time. No way I am doing a factory wipe, but I'm rebuilding the database right now to see if that makes a difference.

Welp. Rebuilt my database and it came out of rest fine the first time i tried.
It also started downloading 8 game updates that I was apparently missing/didn't get automatically. So I wonder if it fixed other stuff that I didn't even know was messed up.
Might not be a bad idea for everyone to rebuild their database once in a while.

Yeah, I have put it in and out of stand by with no issues. Not saying it's not an issue, but there will be some specific reason behind it.

I was expecting it not to work after reading this thread, but it actually works perfectly for me (so far, anyway).
My current settings in Settings > Power Saving Settings > Set Functions Available in Rest Mode:
- Supply Power to USB Ports: Always
- Stay Connected to the Internet: Enabled
- Enable Turning On of PS4 from Network: Enabled
Under Settings > System > Automatic Downloads and Uploads: I only have "Saved Data and Update Files" selected.

Looks like some bugs were fixed from the web browser, we managed to watch a video with ad breaks that refused to work previously. Nice.
Unfortunately the themes don't work as well as they could... the boring blue theme comes back when you go to the settings menu with the paper boat and boxes themes. And the spiral theme looks a bit messy. Oh well, at least I can change the colours of the original theme..

I like how you can trim your own videos now without using share play. Just select your video, hit options and chose trim. Saves me time copying 700MB video to USB then trimming it on my computer when I only want 5-10 seconds of it.
I couldn't find a way either, but it seemed adaptive (switching between SD/HD as performance allowed). It's in line with their other apps if it can't manage a reliable 1080p stream on a good connection in my experience.

Maybe not directly from capture gallery, but you could simply hit the share button, select the clip and choose trim. Even if you don't publish/share it out, the trimmed clip is still saved in your gallery

Put my ps4 in stand by last night before I read all these problems, I got lucky and it worked, certainly won't be doing it again until it's fixed.

Unlike youtube.com/tv which always played at HD in the PS4 browser for me, the PS4 app seems to always start in SD before switching to HD. I'm on a 110Mbps connection and the app still starts in SD. Pretty shit.I couldn't find a way either, but it seemed adaptive (switching between SD/HD as performance allowed). It's in line with their other apps if it can't manage a reliable 1080p stream on a good connection in my experience.
One thing I really do like about it though is that USB keyboards are finally supported for searching, something that wasn't the case in the PS3 app or youtube.com/tv in the PS4 browser. This also makes it better than the PlayStation Store on the PS4 itself in that respect.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but with this new update you won't create a duplicate after the trim.

Not in capture gallery, I was able to to overwrite and save as new.
I don't have that button and there a no themes in the store. ;(

Don't know, didn't have the time to check.
I thought this was the mindset of the added trim option.
Maybe there should be a checkbox for making a duplicate before confirming the trim.
Happened once to me too.
I'm really hoping for a "stability" update before the big games of november come.
