I updated yesterday and have used rest mode with no issue several times. Am I ok to keep using it or is there a chance this bug will show up eventually?
It worked fine for me at first too. You'll probably run into it
Lol. I asked and this is the response I got
THAT PAGE.
WOWWWWW
ITSFUCKINGNOTHING
you aren't going to get an admission of a problem through a random support person handling their twitter until Sony comes out and officially acknowledges that there is an issue
There's been plenty of these standby mode freeze issues prior to 2.0.I'm not an engineer for Sony so I cannot answer that accurately....but I can tell you, noone had an issue with Standby/rest mode until after this firmware update.

So my PS4 has been in standby (rest) mode for around 4 hours now as I wanted to watch some TV. Around 30 minutes ago I noticed the orange light pulsing on and off, it's still doing it just now. That shouldn't be happening should it?
I don't think it's unreasonable to expect their official support channel to be in the loop/informed on problems and the plans to fix them.
yeah, real world does not work like that... there is no way that engineers can know this fast, let alone some support personnel.
When iOS 8.0.0 released few weeks back, there was clusterfuck of issues that they attempted to fix with 8.0.1 one week later that broke cellular reception for many people then they issued 8.0.2 to fix that... month later they did 8.1 and wifi reception still not fixed.
Those are just realities of large updates... luckily it is not bricking systems.

nope, I had the same problem, check if the system's vents are on, 'cause mine were (quietly ventilating)
I couldn't hear anything no, but I want listening for the fans. So, I held down the power button for around 20 seconds, and the console shut down completely. When it powered back on it went through a system scan thing and then rebooted. I then got a message saying the console hadn't been shut down properly. It's working tho.

Umm didn't they already respond?what i meant is that they aren't going to let some random dude monitoring their twitter to provide the first affirmation that there is a problem. sure once sony's officially approved some PR response to post/get out there...they'll start replying to your inquiries accordingly.

Hell if I know.Damn I didn't see that. How are you always on the ball with the information Loudninja?![]()
Jeez, after reading about this all day I got home and saw that my PS4 had the pulsing orange light so I picked up my DS4 to try to turn it on and apparently the controller had been on all night :/
I pulled the plug, it ran a check when I powered it on and everything seems to be working now but how widespread is this really?
Well there are a lot of people on these forums talking about it happening. On top of that those who think they fixed it may just be fooling themselves as it seems to come back after a period of time.
Based on that I would say it is more than a few and less than everyone ;p

How to fix Youtube Upload and sign in issues:
If you have previous attempted and can't sign into Youtube or use Upload Features try this:
Go into your google account settings, Account Permissions and revoke access to PSN.
Go back to PS4, link to other services, and re-sign in and you should see a access grant list, approve it.
Upload and Youtube Access will now work.

There is something seriously wrong with the way Sony has decided to handle saves on the PS4. Going through my online data they now display actual file sizes rather than just the general 11MB, but every single save is 10.5MB+, every single one regardless of what information that save is for. Which means in total, assuming no save is bigger than 11MB, we will be able to upload about 90 save files.
Now I don't know about anyone else, but I had to delete a ton of saves that were rather useless because my online storage was full with no knowledge of this, meaning the last month or so of save games haven't been uploaded. Just looking in the Minecraft folder there is for some reason 2 save games per world, which means for the 4 worlds along with profile data I am taking up over 100MB for one game. Trails alone was taking over 200MB, and I barely played that came when it came out and never went back. What in the world are they sticking in these saves to make them so big?
It isn't the biggest issue now, but with so many games coming out in the next couple months and the crazy amount of releases for 2015, what space is left is going to disappear fast. I can't remember ever having this issue on the PS3.

I had the blinking orange light/lockup happen to me a couple times in the past before this patch. It always occurred if I turned my TV off prior to the PS4 fully going into sleep mode. That's with HDMI Device Link enabled. I've put it to sleep about 5 times since 2.0 and no lockups yet.
This YT solution works but it's bad for people with a Youtube channel.
The thing is.
If we go here with your new account, we'll see this permission.
https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions?hl=en
![]()
And can upload videos.
With my principal account this permission doesn't exist and I think thats the problem.
so, only people using rest mode are experiencing this issues?

haven't had yesterday but I powered off my ps4, didn't put it to rest mode.
