It's pretty interesting listening to the Tim Dog Spaces on X. Too much yelling and some annoying personalities, but I've never seen people go through the stages of grief in like 5 min. It felt like a funeral already.
Also pretty funny that Geoff Keighley and Sean Murray from Hello Games showed up. I think general consensus is to wait until next week to react, but everyone already knows what Phil is going to say. If he reads from the script everyone expects, Xbox fans will officially be out.
Well, I think that as usual Phil will have a dishonest PR bullshit messaging full of lies just to make some damage control.
Their plan of slowly doing steps to move away from Xbox hardware will continue as planned and started many years go. But in that speech they'll hide it saying they have a console coming (which will be cancelled if not already cancelled, or will be made by 3rd party companies) plus exclusives coming and that some games will go multiplatform due to existing deals or because forced by regulators (which won't be true, was always their plan).
They will also throw related PR sentences like "if we all play we all win", "we want to allow our fans to play their games everywhere", "we want to reach 3B players and can't do it limited to our console" etc.
If they would be honest they'd say: "Hey, we have been losing money every year in our gaming division during over two decades of Xbox. We spend around $100B on acquisitions, and aven put you the games day one on GP. But none of that worked, we already lost enough billions and we had to choose between shutting down our gaming division or to go multiplatform and to don't include future games day one on GP to turn this into a profitable business. If you want this division to continue existing, please buy more MS consoles and games. There won't be a next gen Xbox made by us but 3rd party companies will make them. Phil Spencer, Aaron Greenberg, Sarah Bond and Matt Booty leave MS next week. Goodbye."
