Make a chiptune in beepbox and share it

Just found this little site where you can make tunes in your web browser that might be suitable for a computer game. I was playing around and made this, then thought it might be a nice topic for other people to make something better and share it here. Or this might be a fucking terrible idea. Who knows...

Go to https://beepbox.co and do your thing.

Great thread idea hari. Here's mine:

I actually had no idea the site even existed til I came across it in a Game Maker Studio tutorial (trying to get back to making games after 25 years of not doing it) and noodled around with it - figures it was good fun and a really accessible way for people to do something fun and creative. It’s cool to see more talented people show off their skills here. That people engaged with this on Christmas Day was strangely humbling.

Trying to figure this thing out on my phone and struggling lol

It's definitely one to do on a computer. Possibly on a tablet, but I wouldn't fancy it. There's some drag and drop stuff which doesn't translate well to a touch interface.

Just played back a couple more of these and you bastards are talented. I need to up my game.

I won’t have a chance to be in front of a non-work computer until next weekend 😔 I’ll just have to listen for now.

Posting in the chiptune thread because I've been writing chiptunes since 2008 as Feryl.

I'm working on a new EP right now. But my weapon of choice is a 2004 version of ModPlug. Along with samples from FamiTracker and SFXR.

feryl.bandcamp.com

Will give this program a look when I get home.

How about someone starts the first couple bars of a tune and then everyone else adds a few bars.
A community made chiptune sounds like it could be fun chaos.

like, everyone adds 2 or 3 bars to the same tune and see how far/where it can go.
Set some rules and think that could be a fun little thread idea.:messenger_grinning_smiling:

If you're talking about 8 Bit Magic, I didn't write those. That's a compilation of free songs from other artists I like.

Here's some of my original stuff:

feryl.bandcamp.com/album/a-wish-in-the-lake

feryl.bandcamp.com/album/broken-patterns-ep

Most of the stuff on my bandcamp is original. With the exception of 1 remix and 1 compilation.

I use an old version of ModPlug Tracker, FamiTracker, and SFXR.

2 things:
1. I clearly have no idea how bandcamp works
2. I also failed at reading comprehension

I'm going to blame a lack of sleep for my brain just not working.

Did I imagine it or did Evilore once say he makes chiptune music? The above is pret good so maybe I did not.

I was planning to my myself a midi keyboard for Christmas but I'm kinda torn between it and an acoustic guitar now.

Thanks! Nah, the tracks above are my first time trying to do anything chiptunesy. I started dabbling in electronic music last year.
