Man denied $100,000 Jackpot because his friend pushed the button

How on earth is this not the rule?

Because either way it opens up the potential for disputes. If the rule we'd "whoever puts the money in wins" and I'm at a casino with you and say "hey you owe me a dollar from that soda I bought you" and you're like "oh you're right here" and put the dollar in the machine and I pull the lever and win a jackpot, you could also unfairly claim my winnings.

Neither rule makes more sense than the other, or makes anybody less susceptible to what happened to the people in this story. The issue in this story is with two shitty friends, not a casino's rules.

This got me thinking; how much would the prize have to be for you do the same thing this woman did? Or would you never do that, regardless of the amount? Oh, and let's just say you can't split it.

100K, thought wouldn't have even occurred to me, and I'd like to think I'm not morally degraded enough to ever pull something like that. But if that was $100 million.... I don't know.

For a friend? Fuck off bro that money is mine. I'd give you a taste sure but I'm good with that.

Family? Right down the middle

Uh... So who wins on this machine?

Read the other article I posted.

This is very much a "he said, she said" scenario right now.

Kinda weird though that if they can determine who pressed the button, they can't determine who put the money in the machine by just going back on the footage a little further.

But if it's determined by who pressed the button anyway, I guess why bother

If it's a sidepiece or girlfriend, they're getting none of it and I'm bouncing out. If it's a friend or family, it goes down the middle.

When I give money to family at the casino they usually give me back whatever I have them plus a little extra if they won

Seems there is back and forth on who put the money in the machine. The video would solve all that but i doubt the casino would bother looking at the film to solve the dispute once the money has been paid out.

Nah money doesn't destroy friendships, there wasn't a friend in there in the first place, they just find money a reason enough to stop pretending.

You only think like that because your number hasnt been reached. Enough money would ruin ANY friendship. If you thought your friend screwed you out of 10 bucks, ok you'll get over it. If they screwed you out of a million, i doubt it.

Casinos are brutal as fuck. Sat next to dude that won 3,000 from a slot machine once, and when it came time to pay up they refused. Reason? He was using his wife's players club card.

These people lead some interesting lives.

Weeks later, she allegedly sent Flato a text message asking, "Still hate me?" He responded, "How could you do that to me?" And her response? "I miss you."

Navarro, a Hallandale Beach based mortgage broker who lives in Aventura, says that her husband, who works in sales, is furious.

The rule is likely that winnings go to button pusher over whose money it is because the latter is harder to prove where as the prior can be backed by clear video footage that the casino has access to.

One casino I was at didn't pay me when I won at roulette. I made them look at the eye in the sky and they STILL didn't pay me my winnings after they saw i was right. I was lit!

Yes, this is what I think too. I'm baffled this isn't the law.

I don't get what would be so different if that were the law? If I put the money in for you so that you can play, I can still claim the winnings? It still leaves the door open to potential abuse or shenanigans. The casinos likely just pick a policy and stick to it to a tee. The beef here is between the two "friends". The casino has nothing to do with it from a legal standpoint.

Wow that whole first page.... I know op was updated but even in the original op the woman didn't do anything wrong.

Yall are fucked up.

Even in the scenario of it was his dollar or whatever (which is disputed) yelling, flipping out, threatening is a pretty good way to not get that money especially if as a pro gambler he knew the rules...

That said I'm inclined not to believe the abusive threatener's version of the tale.

Family? Right down the middle

Close blood relative - 50%
Distant relative - 15%
Non-blood relative - 15%

Legit Friend - 25% if casino sides with me.
Acquaintance friend (don't hang out or anything) - 10%

What's there to figure out? Split it or you're a dick.

Besides the whole scenario completely changing, the guy was causing a commotion. Acting like she is the dick when the guy goes berserk. I would have been freaked out. He should have known she was gonna share. The guy already sounded like he had anger problems, the update confirms how much of a horrible person he is.

Man, smh. Neogaf judgemental as fuck over the little things.

This bit I find hilarious.

“I said, ‘Just wait and let me figure this out, and when you calm down we’ll speak,’” she said, and then asked casino security to walk her out.

"Let me figure this out" then proceeds to walk away in the scummiest way possible.

Straight up, if you're going to a Casino under the premise of gambling together with a "friend"

1. You already played yourself
2. If you win split it equally, oh, and you played yourself.

Funny part is she thought the money was his until the casino was like "nah this the rules". I don't blame her cause she was about to get double-crossed.

Wait, does this mean when the friend of a friend who asked me to play their bingo card at potawatomi casino, and I won bingo on it, but they took the $400 winnings...that means I was entitled to the winnings, and rightfully pissed they didn't share the money with me?

I mean if the casino told you that you'd legitimately won money after your friend lied about the rules saying the money would be theirs if you two won you'd still want to split it? On top of that if the person flipped out the moment the casino ran the tape and gave you the money and now you know this person was lying you'd want to still give them the benefit of the doubt? I'd ✌🏾out so quick.

$100.000 would make a huge difference in my life and I think it's quite a lot of money. It would at least get me out the area I'm living in.

I know right I could pay off my credit card bills, car, and a down payment on a house. I wish I was rich like some people so I can say $100,000 is nothing.

Just read that she claims she was feeding the slot machine and that she offered a good-faith offer, it's basically a "She said, he said" story, so I don't know what to think anymore until we can get a less biased side of the story.

Yeah. Looks like he threatened or said horrible things about her kids too?

I think I'm favoring the woman in this scenario based on what we know. I think the best thing to do here would have been to do a 50/50 split and maybe she offered that or close to it. I guess even if she didn't she felt it was hers and the casino agreed so really he should have taken whatever she offered as long as it was reasonable especially since he's a gambler and knows how this goes. If he felt it was a fair amount then stay friends with her, if not then part ways.

We can't. All we have is the video evidence. Someone's gotta be lying though because the money is still with just one person lol.

Guy sounds like an asshole good for her.

How the hell do people not know that the one pressing the button gets the money, haven't they ever seen stories where people don't get anything since they let their kid pull the lever/push the button.

What do you think your reaction would be to winning $100k?

I honestly don't know what I'd do. I'm not an emotional person at all so I really can't imagine jumping up and down and screaming and stuff. But then I'd probably feel like kind of a dick if I played it too cool.

My guess is I'd try to fake some enthusiasm and retreat as soon as possible.
