So this guy is cool with his wife hanging out with some dude friend to go high stakes gambling over drinks where she puts his hand on his and they pull that lever together?

No thanks.

This whole story is shit. Who cares who's cash it is soon it will all be flushed back down the slot.

What nonsense! Whoever put the money into the machine should be entitled to the winnings.

What's to stop folks from going into a casino, waiting for folks to put money into the machines, and hitting buttons?

This is how we operate. Main reason being though is that there are a lot of people going around playing off abandoned credits and never putting money in.

That shit happened to me once but on a much smaller scale. My friend was losing constantly on a machine and told me to hit "max bet" for him so I did. Ended up hitting a for like 900. We just split that shit and continue our night of fuckery. Easy solution...

I hit 80$ on a video poker machine and jumped to the machine next to it. A nice old lady sat at the machine I just won 80$ on and we started talking, she put a 20$ into the machine and hit a 1000$. I congratulated her and walked away a tad salty.

Oh damn, the Seminole Hard Rock? I won $600 there the same day I found out I got a job in Japan. And also found out the hard way that I had gall stones while staying in that hotel. Great times.

Where the hell do you play where you find abandoned machines with money in them? In all my time gambling I've found credits in a machine maybe twice and never above 3 cents.

oh that clears things up, guess that was a bad example to give.

Craps is a hard game to win big on instantly. It's mostly just going up slowly. The highest odds I've seen you can bet on is one place where you have 175-1 odds but they have to roll everything but a 7 at least once. If they roll a 7 before rolling a 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 once you lose. It's a fun thing to throw $1 at but you'll very likely never get it.

Reading this thread made me only now realize how scummy some casinos are with their extremely thinly veiled excuses they use in order to not have to pay the winnings. As for this particular case, it's still a she-said-he-said situation but if it was me, my finnish humility wouldn't let me take the money even if I could.

But they DID pay?

Sounds like the opposite would make sense, then. Are you saying that if someone played abandoned money, they wouldn't get paid? That seems crazy. The person who hit the button gets paid seems like it would work well in the "abandoned money" scenario.
