To be fair - as fair as one could be - there are better articles on this floating around. 365gay.com is slanting the article horribly, omitting facts to enrage readers.

The father was teaching his son to fight, which is fine, but not at 3, so he "wouldn't be pushed around." So he wouldn't be a "sissy." This was less intolerance, more ignorance. The father didn't beat his son because he thought he might be gay. He beat his son (literally) in a fight to toughen him up, because - as the dad's logic goes - all homosexual men are sissies who get the daylights beaten out of them by their peers.

Others corroborated Nysheerah Paris' testimony as the prosecution built its case during the first day of the capital murder trial of Ronnie Paris Jr., 21, accused of abusing 3-year- old Ronnie Paris until the boy slipped into a coma Jan. 22.

He died six days later with swelling on both sides of his brain.

``He was trying to teach him how to fight,'' said Shanita Powell, Nysheerah Paris' sister. ``He was concerned that the child might be gay.''

Even Sheldon Bostic, who was Ronnie Paris Jr.'s Bible- study friend, said he warned the father several times not to play so rough with his son.

``He really did what other fathers do - slap box,'' Bostic said. ``He always said he didn't want his son growing up to be pushed around.''

``Did Ronnie use a term for that?'' asked Jalal Harb, an assistant state attorney.

``He didn't want him to be a sissy,'' Bostic said.

The prosecution's witnesses portrayed Ronnie Paris Jr. as a man who wanted more of his wife's attention, who complained about not having enough sex since the child was around and who openly questioned whether the boy was his.

Witnesses also testified he lost his temper when the child was ill. The boy was sick often while in his parents' care.

She will get off with less than 5 years I am guessing with a plea bargain where she agrees to testify against her husband.
 
The Department of Children & Families really dropped the ball on this one. The mother definitely needs to go to jail. She was an accomplice, but I am sure that she will get off by testifying against her husband. The husband was probably beating on her as well.

I can't fathom how stupid some people are.

I agree with Darien, throw the sick, worthless, poor excuse for a father and a human being in jail and let him become a prison bitch for what will feel like an eternity for his sorry ass.
 
I usually joke in tragic threads, like the one where the guy dropped the chainsaw and sliced his wife to half while cutting bushes. But this fucker, I hope he goes through extreme sadistic hell in prison before he gets fried.
 
The guy doesn't seem that bad, I don't think he was trying to hurt the kid; I bet he thought he was doing him a favor. He just sounds like a moron.
 
If I didn't know the mother's sir name was Powell before marrige I wouldn't have been surprised if it said in the end the mother and father were related before getting married.
How stupid can people get? Lock him for life, he doesn't deserve the right to be free. The mother should be in jail too... for the longest time possible. If possible, sterilize (sp?) the woman. She shouldn't have kids after neglecting a 3 year old.
 
Well, according to Joe Stark, he was going to die by the age of 30 anyway.

He saved the poor kid 27 painfully gay years.

I was joking. I hope I don't get one of those "lack of sarcasm sense" bans.

Joe Stark is the father of that Zach kid that's in an ex-gay camp.

One of his justifications was something along the lines "it's not god's plan to be gay it's wrong...and statistics show that by the age of 30 he could have AIDs or be dead."
 
I am actually angry at the thread title for making me expect something even worse than the rampant stupidity involved in the story. Because of it, I read the story and thought "Oh, that's not as bad as I expected". Dammit.
 
This shit makes me sick. They should get Michael Clarke Duncan to beat the fuck out of this guy, so he could get a sense of what the child must have felt.

In cases like this, i always wonder if the parent fighting so hard to make sure their son wasn't gay wasn't dealing with some pent up homosexual desires themselves. Had the child survived, it would've been ironic if he became a prize-winning gay boxer.
