Man Leaves Racist Note For Waitress Instead Of Tip At Thai Restaurant

On Friday, when a waitress at the Bamboo Thai Bistro in Redondo Beach picked up the credit card receipt from a customer, she found that he had left no tip, but instead wrote the words, "Tip for U.S. citizens only," reports NBC LA.

A photo of the receipt was soon shared on social media. Unsurprisingly, the man—identified by the receipt as Jason Paul Naglich—was taken to task for his comment, especially after YouTube star Gina Darling shared the image.

The server—whose identity has not been released—is in her 30s and is in the U.S. legally, working under a visa. She tells NBC LA that she hopes to eventually get her green card to provide a better life for her two kids.

The real fucking obnoxious thing about this is that he assumes if you work at a Thai restaurant, you're not an American citizen. As if you couldn't just be an American citizen working at a Thai restaurant. The article clarifies that yeah, she's here on a visa, but that's really goddamn obnoxious.

I was at a local Subway one time and some asshole was angry about some shit that made no difference and he was yelling at the people behind the counter, "THE CUSTOMER'S ALWAYS RIGHT HERE IN AMERICA", then bolted out of there. As if the people working there couldn't just be Indian-American or Mexican-American. Fucking pissed me off.

You know with the occasional story that pops up on social media whenever someone writes something stupid on the tip line you'd think by now people would learn that if they do this it will end up on social media and then eventually the news.

I could've, but at the same time I believe a waiter should always realize that the customer might eventually need a refill without the customer asking for it.

Waiters are suppossed to be attentive. They should prove themselves worthy of a tip, dammit!

This is in California, so she IS getting a full wage. Cali does not allow reduction of wages due to tips. Everyone in the state makes at least minimum wage. Servers at high end restaurants can bank pretty hard.

Doesn't excuse the dude's stupidity. Eating at a restaurant that wouldn't exist without Asian immigration and then shitting on said immigration.

Edit: And he won't even be able to do that because immigrants are the backbone of the farm industry too.

There's a documentary on Netflix (or was not sure now) on the origins of General Tso's chicken, and during the explanation, they talked to chinese immigrants that started restaurants in the Midwest around the 50's and 60's where they spoke about the racism they suffered because they were Chinese in a very white part of the US at the time. One of the people made a really good point. Paraphrasing from what I remember, they basically said that those curious about their restaurant would show up and try the food and realize it was delicious and that they slowly told people they knew and the racism died down. That people couldn't be racist (or at least had to become more tolerant) when they realized they liked the food if this new culture. I'm definitely not doing justice to what they said.
