Can someone tell me how to install those Token Light icons? I've never done that before and am kinda lost.
it's in the OP.

Easiest thing to do. Just get an icon pack from anywhere (once again I suggest either deviantart [listed under customization > icons > dock icons] or customize.org), extract it to somewhere, make sure the icons are in .ico format (if not no worries, you can use a little converter [CLICK HERE]), and make shortcuts to whatever you want pinned on your desktop. Go into shortcut properties and change the icon, pin it to the taskbar, then delete the shortcut off your desktop.

there are some apps around to change things all at once, but I personally don't use that stuff.

Oh, I was talking about doing all of them, but I'm seeing how I don't think I'll really want that. Doing it individually. thanks.

You did install uxstyle right? Make sure you installed the right one (x86 for 32bit, x64 for 64bit)

What you can try is opening task manager (if UAC is on click "show process from all users"), going to the services tab, look for the service called "UnsignedThemes". Right click it > "stop service", then right click it again > "start service".

Then try applying the theme again.

Cheers but I figured it out after. You need MS Visual C++ 2008 installed.

OK, haven't posted here in quite some time so here I go.
Oh and click to see the og size versions, if you want the source i'm sorry I don't have them at hand, but specify which you want and i'll surely find them for you one way or another.

if nsfw i'll remove, but w/e it's art anyway (i.e. drawing)

Sorry for the mega post, but I love most of these so evenly I couldn't just post one… Like I said let me know which you want and i'll find it for you. But bear in mind quite a few of these were too small for desktop dimensions (width less than 1440) or iPad dimensions (height less than 1024), so I had to modify some via PS too extend their width/height to look right on my MBP or iPad..

Mac users who have Geek Tool I need your help.

I want to put a picture of the current Moon phase in with my clock... how would I go about doing this using geek tools?

Thank you.

On my home desktop, went back to a wallpaper of my favorite game of this generation:

Source: A cropped version of this image, courtesy of the fantastic High Res Artwork thread.

And the work desktop, which still hasn't changed in 5 months:

Background was stolen from a poster earlier in the thread... but I wanted to show off my layout as well, so here it is GAF!

So when I unzip the Windows Visual Styles, a lot of them have things like "Style," "Style Top," "Style Bottom," etc. etc. What's the difference between the normal one, top, bottom, left, and right?

I'm looking for a Sticky Note program for W7.

Here's what I ideally want:
- Assign a keyboard shortcut to hide/show the sticky note. On the Mac, I use the Dashboard sticky notes and hot corners. I want something similar here. I don't like the built-in MS Sticky note program for this reason.

- Automatically save the note on the hard drive. Ideally let me pick where it saves it, so the notes can be saved into my dropbox and I can see them from abroad.

- Allow me to use 1 or more on the screen at once, and independently customize the colours of different notes.

- Low RAM overhead, low visual profile, no processor use.

Any suggestions?

I'm glad so many people like my Emma Stone desktop. For anyone trying to replicate it, I've updated the zip file to include CPU, RAM, SWAP and HDD config's as well as the start orb and some fixes to the old ones that resulted in cut off text.

Funny that D4Danger's great clock gadget has been brought up again, I made a desktop using it last year and a rainmeter theme which you can find here.

VLC, UMPlayer, SPlayer, and KMPlayer, but no Potplayer or MPC-HC?
Well, SPlayer is pretty much MPC-HC, so I don't need it. I only installed KMPlayer again this week, because my GPU is gone on RMA; and it's the most stable when playing HD h.264 videos from the CPU. I'll try PotPlayer if it's based on it.

yeah potplayer is based off it, actually is a pretty fine player, just that it's not well known. There isn't really an official homepage for it either (that's actually a pet peeve of mine regarding software - I hate it when software doesn't have well-kept homepages)

Aside from that though it's pretty much been the best player i've used, and i've used all the ones listed plus extras. Looks real nice by default, has good skin support, you can configure it to your heart's content, great on CPU (especially with DXVA enabled), and plays everything i've thrown at it with the least amount of tweaking.

A word of caution with SPlayer though: although it is a really nice player at face value, it does have a nasty habit of changing your associations (even ones not related to video files) and messing up windows' default way of thumbnailing movie files. This happens regardless of whether you actually set it to be the default player or not. Nothing horribly destructive but something they need to fix. When they do though, I will definitely start using it though because it's my favorite player otherwise.

off topic though.

I've seen multiple variations of this picture. Anyone know the original source/artist? I'd like to check out more of their work.

tineye and google skills have shown it was apparently drawn by an artist known as Imperial Boy.

Wow. You got a source for the whales, the landscape/planetscape, the astronaut and the starchild? Nice stuff...
Thanks, here you go;

Starchild; http://vhm-alex.deviantart.com/gallery/?q=kid#/duu524

I'd make a thread just to recommend this artist, seriously awesome stuff in there (check out his entire gallery).

But note that some of these I have modified to fit the width of my screen, since some are too small. If you really want THOSE (mod versions), just PM.

You know, I think the clock is way cool, but it feels redundant cuz I don't autohide the taskbar... are there any advantages I'm not thinking of to such a clock or is it all just style-based?

no, no advantages at all. It's just a gadget I made because somebody asked and I had nothing better to do. I just thought the clock was kinda cool.

If I'm honest I never even see my desktop. I use alt+tab all the time and my monitor sleeps after a minute of inactivity but it looks nice when you login so I keep it around.
