He wasn't the reason really. Bret was probably worse for business overall if we are talking history.

He was the reason much more than Bret, although it wasn't all his fault.

Vince tried to build him as Hulk Hogan part 2 and fans just didn't buy it.

Nah. Bret was the worst in the company, and the reason people stopped watching.

Diesel never had a great run or was given the keys to anything. He beat Bob Backlund. He was phased out when Bret was continuing being a fuck up.

Stardust should be booked like Joker Sting/Mankind. Creepy, unstable, and legit dangerous -- just a dude who fucks people up and spouts cosmic parables about destruction and chaos. As it stands his character is a clown who no one is afraid of or takes seriously.

His only good matches as champion are against Bret and HBK.

His only good matches when not champion are against HBK and Undertaker.

While it's true Bret wasn't good for business in the U.S. he made the company much more money in Europe and Canada than Nash.

Nash couldn't draw anywhere. That makes him worse.

To be fair a good chunk of their roster can't be taken seriously. WWE has been absolute garbage at building anyone other than a few people. People who do manage to get some natural heat, very quickly get intentionally cooled down in the following weeks.

Short term, yeah. He was like Ahmed Johnson with longer legs.
