What? Are you talking about Scientology or that guy that thinks he's married to Peach? Why are you mixing them?Stryder said:Somebody has to send that picture of Peach to that dude that lives in his fantasy world called Xenu.

Why is Donkey Kong wearing a boxing glove to hit the ball?
Plus his name is "Donkey." Come on.DavidDayton said:We have an ape that flings barrels, wears a tie, and cavorts with creatures that affront creation itself -- and you ask about a boxing glove?
(I suppose it's because DK's so tough, flying baseballs mean nothing to him.)

The main mode of play for single players seems to be Challenge mode. Your goal in this mode is to build up a powerful team by drafting members of rival teams, eventually taking on and defeating Bowser's team. You start off by selecting a captain whom you'll raise throughout the course of the game. The game assigns you an initial team, usually consisting of weak players, then places you on an overhead play map. You're free to move your character around on this map, speaking with other characters, buying items, and taking on missions.
There are just a few types of missions in challenge mode, all themed around baseball. Star Missions are the main missions that require your attention. When you win these baseball matches, you build up your character's stats. Missions aren't just about playing and winning full games, though. Speaking to some characters on the world map will take you to a quick mini game, or a quick challenge, requiring you to, for instance, get a runner home from second. Finally, there are Scout Missions, where you woo members of rival teams to your team by winning a game.
Memles said:I'm a little concerned about this one, to be honest with you. While it appears as if it will be a lot of fun, the lack of four-player multiplayer and, thus far, any sort of story mode or even tournaments, makes me wonder whether or not it would be worth it for me, who more or less plays single player most of the time with the occasional multiplayer battle.
Looks fun, but I wonder how far that will take it when it seems like Baseball isn't quite as much of a party game as Tennis/Golf/Soccer.
maynerd said:4 player multiplayer in a baseball game? Umm.. yeah that makes no sense.
Toy Field mode is a twist on standard baseball gameplay for up to four players. In this mode, players switch off pitching, batting and fielding roles. The outfield is split into fifteen squares, each associated with a different effect that activates should the ball land there. A square with the word "Hit," for instance, registers a hit and gives the batter ten coins and another chance at the plate, while "2B Hit" and "3B Hit" are, respectively, worth more coins. Making the ball land on a "?" square brings up a slot machine, which determines what lucky (or unlucky) prize you get.
Memles said:I never insinuated that there should be...I was just insinuating that the fact that Baseball doesn't support it does limit its multiplayer abilities right off the bat. I never expected such a mode.
Although, there is apparently a party-style game involved. Toy Mode...
I expect DS/Revolution updates are inevitable really. I'd really like to see Baseball for GBA though given that Namco has a perfectly good Famista Advance engine lying around.Mayor McCheese said:Has anyone heard of any plans to do a Mario Baseball\Tennis\Golf game for the DS? There's at least an N64 Tennis they could start with...
maynerd said:It sounds like 4 player mode is important to you and you knew since this was baseball that a 4 player mode would not be in there.
Why are you even in this thread commenting on how you won't like it? Move along this game isn't for you no sense commenting on it.
