Hello,

A friend is currently at the Game Convention in Leipzig and a RP has confirmed some secret characters in SSX 4.

Mario is definitively on the GCN version :lol

So basically the only way Nintendo can get third party support now is to let everyone use Mario in their games.

I look forward to GTA featuring Mario car-jacking and whore-beating.

I kinda like this thing that they've been doing....like the super punch out guy in Fight Night was a great extra, if i bought that game im sure i would get that version over the other ones just for that, or the mario team in NBA Street. I think they should put Ricky Winterborn or Rob Haywood or someone else from 1080 into SSX4 too ..haha :P

I like it though, adds a little more to the games to make them feal a little more than just shitty ports :P ......even if they are :lol

Mario is platforming
Mario is driving
Mario is milking

The problem with this sarcastic post is that the platforming and driving games were quite good games in their own genres and in fact, created the genres. You can extend that to the sports games as well. There would be no Mascot Kart genre had Nintendo not decided not to milk the Mario name for a racing game.

If it was Crash Bandicoot or one of those second tier mascots, maybe I'd see your point. \

Somehow the concepts of smart marketing & brand awareness are lost to these forums.
Nah, it's just begging to made fun of is all. Doesn't mean it isn't cool. I mean, mario in nba street :lol that's awesome.

If anyone is seriously concerned about Mario appearing in all of these EA games then I would suggest they go outside for a while.

This surely makes up for the Zelda delay. I bet they're adding Mario to Zelda Twilight Princess as we speak

Well, at least it helped SC2 become the best selling traditional fighter this generation. Shame Namco f-ed that opportunity up though.

Ninty fans will buy it in droves.
Because they certainly did for NBA Street V3:

PS2 Total $17,580,815 359,056
XBX Total $9,008,836 184,276
GCN Total $7,138,681 144,816

:rolleyes

It's not too far off from the Xbox version, so I would say that yes, the inclusion of the Mario All Stars had a noticeable effect on sales.

Considering that NBA Street V2 sales were also similar without a Nintendo character, I'd say the effect was minimal at best.

PS2 Total $50,670,101 1,325,161
XBX Total $16,153,512 467,112
GCN Total $9,357,589 324,991

Why wasn't Mario in Madden? :(
He is. In fact there are four Marios in Madden:

Mario Edwards (CB) Miami Dolphins
Mario Fatafehi (DT) Denver Broncos
Mario Haggan (LB) Buffalo Bills
Mario Monds (DT) New England Patriots

Yeah, but considering the low cube software sales lately, it might have sold a lot worse than that without it. For a cube multiplatform game to sell comparably with the xbox version is pretty good these days.

Out of all the snowbaording games for this generation, which has been the best so far. I want to pick up a game in this genre.

IMO, the two best are SSX3 and Amped 2. They're really different, but both excellent. SSX3 is more arcadey, Amped 2 is more realistic. You could probably get them combined for 20 dollars used.

Probably SSX 3, followed by Amped 2. 1080 is great too but it's more of a racing game on snowboards, IMO. The other two are more trick-based (although SSX has a combination of both)
