In other news, Zelda is done?

It wouldn't make sense, though -- being a Triforce game, it's just begging to be put on GC, where it will rack up tons of revenue. Then, Nintendo can make another Mario Kart for Revolution at some point and make money off of that title.jarrod said:I think I'd actually prefer seeing Mario Kart Arcade GP upspecced for Revolution launch rather than a GameCube port too. It'd make an excellent launch game and Namco has good track record with this sort of thing (Soul Calibur DC).

Maybe, maybe not -- the GC already has a large userbase (relative to the userbase for a new console, anyway) to purchase a new Mario Kart, whereas a new console would have to start from scratch, though most launch software does sell abnormally well.SomeDude said:Wouldn't it make more money if it was a launch game for a new console?
Sure, but Nintendo likely needs as much launch content as they can muster. Your argument would've worked just as well for Soul Calibur and we saw how well that turned out. Plus Mario Kart DD is still pulling in a lot of sales (20-50k a month), a new Mario Kart might stem that.... I just think all around, it'd be better served making a splash on Nintendo's next machine rather than fizzling out with GameCube.human5892 said:It wouldn't make sense, though -- being a Triforce game, it's just begging to be put on GC, where it will rack up tons of revenue. Still, the fact that the game is Triforce-based makes a GC port almost a no-brainer.
You could also argue that if Revolution is truly as far off as it seems (a Fall 2006 U.S. launch, for example) Nintendo could use another killer app for the GC besides Zelda to fill in the last year or so.jarrod said:Sure, but Nintendo likely needs as much launch content as they can muster. Agreed. Just make it the horn or something.Mama Smurf said:But pressing break and accelerate at once to jump and use items? Lame. Give us a button to jab for the items at least.
Oh please, you don't have to try hard to troll Nintendo, they do it to themselves. :lolSmiles and Cries said::lol

I'm getting the feeling from this, that if there really is 100 items, that you choose which 3 you want to get during the race, instead of 100 randomly thrown at you. which would add an element of strategy that would be quite different from the player-specific ones in MKDD

impirius said:A GC version would be all well and good (and easy to make), but a Revolution version with:
- online
- camera support
- better graphics
- unlockables
- extra modes
...would be awesome. It's years between Mario Kart games; we may as well hope this one gets improved before it's on a home console, right? Maybe they could put in a Double Dash mode for those of us who actually enjoyed that.![]()
If this is being developed by Namco, then it shouldn't affect any timelines on Nintendo's end very much.mattx5 said:This is really cool news. I liked Double Dash, but wouldn't mind a more traditional Mario Kart coming out.
The only questions this raises are -
Two Mario Karts released on the same system? Feels strange......
What does this mean for a Mario Kart Revolution? Would it be pushed back even further because this new MK is coming so close to the end of GC's lifespan?
Because it's redundant in terms of resources and market potential. Mario Kart GP would be better served being reworked for Revolution launch a la Soul Calibur.explodet said:Besides, if there are going to be 3-4 Mario Party games on a system, I think they can squeeze in another Mario Kart.
