Marvel’s Feige Teases MCU’s “Next Saga”

The highlights of the current phase was definitely Spider-Man, WandaVision and to some degree Doctor Strange, the rest hasn’t landed that well for me. Hopefully next phase feels more targeted and less random stories.
“As we’re nearing the end of Phase 4, I think people will start to see where this next saga is going. I think there have been many clues already, that are at least apparent to me, of where this whole saga is going. But we’ll be a little more direct about that in the coming months, to set a plan, so audiences who want to see the bigger picture can see a tiny, tiny, tiny bit more of the roadmap.”

Next phase is multiverse and mutants, brings back ironman with new actor (or not) and hopefully closes those loopholes forever somehow.

I've lost most of m interest in the MCU. The conclusion of Infinity Saga felt like a great ending point to pause for a while. Outside of Spider-Man: No Way Home, my overall thoughts on post-Infinity MCU releases have been a consistent, "meh." I'm not really interested in another sprawling saga that spans 13 years.

Besides, I'm not sure they have any clue where they're going. They're in a "throw shit at the wall and see what sticks" phase. Their output has been all over the place. Hawkeye, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Black Widow were just postmortem extensions of the Infinity Saga. Eternals was a stand-alone movie that flopped. Loki, What If, WandaVision, Spider-Man No Way Home, and Dr. Strange are all tied together with the multiverse, but they don't feel like they're moving toward anything cohesive. I haven't watched Ms. Marvel yet, so not sure where that fits in -- if it fits in at all.

So far it’s been more disjointed than Phase 1 in terms of build up. The Disney+ shows aren’t helping but I know it’s too late to correct course here.

Well, as long as Chris Hemsworth’s Thor is still around I’ll keep watching. Removal of the last OG is what will end my interest.

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
Can we press pause on the MCU please for a bit?

I've barely watched any of phase 4 and of that I have watched it's either been crap from the start or completely shat the bed at the last episode.
No. Please let it dig its grave. I am waiting for audiences to grow tired of these movies and for them to underperform on a constant basis. Only then, the capital will be pushed into new IPs.

I think Secret Invasion will be the closure, could be completely wrong though.

When they announced Phase 4 at SDCC 2019, Thor was the end of it officially. But then COVID happened and dates got shuffled.

"It is the complete Phase Four the way I announced the complete Phase Three five years ago—things can move, things can change as they did if you go back and look at what we talked about five years ago for Phase Three, but we’ve been working on this for quite a while and it’s pretty set. But there are always changes possible.”

Phase 4 was pretty bland.
Have yet to watch Dr Strange but other than that it didn't feel like there was any "saga", just some disjointed movies/shows with an occasional loose parallel universe theme. Loki felt like it was kicking off some new saga but did they ever do anything else with that storyline?

Phase 4 was full of characters you didn’t give a shit about that was anchored by older cast members that you did.

Hopefully it gets better so people will check out as the old cast does.

The disney shows have fucked everything imo, loser characters and I bet a shitton people will be lost when watching a movie with them in it. My gf for example saw all the marvel movies but hasnt seen any of the mostly crappy shows.

There's a second season coming.

Yeah I know but I thought the whole Kang thing and the war between realities was going to be the big new saga for the MCU. Not something limited to the Loki show.
As I said though, haven't seen the new Dr Strange so I know if it plays into that.

Spidey and Strange were good, Wandavision was great for the first 2/3 of the show. Other than that they've been big misses for me personally. I'm really tired of superhero movies and Disney's bullshit in general though.

Dr. Strange introduces the incursions.

Kang is in Ant-Man 3.

I take it you didn't really see Doctor Strange and what happened to him.

He was also a variant from an alternate universe.

I saw Dr. Strange. When you said tease, I took it that you meant the acknowledgement that mutants exist in the MCU, in one universe or another.

What was so connected about the phase 2 and 3 films?

Give it a break already. Who would suffer from a 2 years Marvel break? It’s saturated right now, with a lot of bad quality.

I've barely watched any of phase 4 and of that I have watched it's either been crap from the start or completely shat the bed at the last episode.

The requested lengthy pause already happened post-endgame and during the worst part of the pandemic. We're already full sail ahead again.

So most of 2019 til about May 2021 just got memory -holed by you? A full 2 years wasn't enough?

To me this kind of comments (I respect your opinion, though) seem to me like people need to have things laid out for the or they'll complain.

This phase is clearly a set-up phase. They are introducing new heroes, the multiverse, etc. They are introducing more because they are going bigger. Last saga started with introducing 1 here at a time with their own movie, and even then, they had experiments like Guardians of the Galaxy (which turned out a success) and Ant-Man.

These things take time, but we have the Disney+ shows so they can do more, quicker. The quality of the shows is a story for another day, though. They have already introduced so many new heroes, this is going to get much better than the Infinity Saga, but even that one took 10 years to make.

If they introduce X-Men, Blade and Ghostrider, I’d be happy. Haven’t seen the latest movies yet, so no clue if that’s even remotely teased. And they should have more adult movies like Logan and Deadpool. DC does that better.

The current phase has been seriously disappointing. The only highlight was Moon Knight, I didn't like Spiderman. Haven't seen Doctor Strange though.

I think they made a mistake with Spiderman by making it more about what suit he is wearing than coming up with actually good and interesting character arc for Peter. And Tom Holland... not a fan.

I think I liked MCU when it was grounded. Now it's full blown comics and anime (which they are).

Multiverse of Madness single-handedly killed my entire next phase MCU hype.

I hope we get more Villain Wanda, loved her in MoM. Not sure I care about the whole young-avengers thing they're setting up though.

I could have swore back around the time Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 was releasing, Fiege hinted that the next saga would be cosmic. We seem to be going that direction. We already saw the Eternals and Celestials. Thor and the Guardians are back out there in the cosmos. Captain Marvel still has at least one pending film. The multiverse opens up a way to bring in or connect any characters currently missing (like the mutants).

All I am hoping for is a good Fantastic Four movie that opens up more possibilities, the X-Men (and please Lord don't change their name.....), and some cosmic stuff with the Eternals, Silver Surfer, and whoever we're still missing like Adam Warlock.

And I hope they keep the main Wanda dead. If some multiverse variant makes cameos that's fine. But her character flamed out and should be gone. She ended unrecognizable to any Avengers or even Vision if he were to come back, so why leave her story open? Hopefully it is done. It was great and wild and a weird roller coaster at times, but she deserves to be dead. Especially for
cutting Captain Carter with them huge jumblies in half

Combining all the shows together there are only about 32 episodes worth of content to watch. Not that much.

Loki is next, then Hawkeye, Moonknight and Ms Marvel. IMO What If can be skipped.

Can we have a phase of movies where superhero flicks aren’t the fucking be all and end all please? It’s all so very, very tired at this point. Needs a rest.
