It has been a long time since I have said something like this, but you are the reason why Marvel did not bother with Havok/Lorna for such a long time. Whao dude. If nobody read X-Factor "or care", it would have been cancelled long ago. And they just got introduced (reintroduced) there an issue ago. It is about time you wait for one adventure before dissing them pointlessly...whao.

Funny thing is I actually cared about Havok before X-Factor i.e Marvel Cosmic and i read pretty much everything with him.
Ever since he returned to earth I just havent cared.(but you say he just got reintroduced, so i guess thats why)

Is post schism X-Factor an interesting read?
Maybe you can convince me to buy into it.
Simply saying im the reason Havok hasnt been used is pointless....rather tell me why i should care ever since he got back to earth, one good forum post could get X-Factor a new reader.

X-Factor has always been a great read but I don't think this is a great jumping off point.

Lorna & Alex have only been in one issue and that was in the last panel, they're currently dealing with a universe hopping Multiple Man. It's a great series that doesn't sell well but everyone I've recommended it to in the shop thanks me later because it really is an amazing series that just doesn't fit in with any of the other X-books.

Despite the low sales, Marvel isn't canceling the book anytime soon. It's one of their more progressive titles(that actually wins awards) and they want to keep Peter David(it's his baby) happy.

As far as AvsX, I'm excited yet apprehensive about the series but we'll see. I'll be buying it anyways since I pick up most x-men/avengers books.

This along with the upcoming Marvel RPG is actually making me interested in comics again.

How's Fear Itself?

Awesome but ultimately pointless story. As a stand alone event book it's fantastic.*

*Everyone else on Earth will tell you it sucks, just so you know. But I, as always, am always right.

I'm a fan of Gen Hope, but I kind of dropped off Marvel after Schism. Is this free digital copy with the purchase of a comic recent? Will it be for the entire series?

How's Fear Itself?

It just wasn't that good of a book, Fraction admits as much on a War Rocket Ajax podcast.

If you're looking for a good jumping in point I would go with Schism which isn't the greatest of books but gives you a general idea of where the X-Men stand at the moment.

As far as ongoing titles: Wolverine & The X-men & Avengers/New Avengers are really solid and should help you get wet.

Not really being wholly familiar with Hope's powers and reading Schism anyway. Reading about her powers now, they really created a character this broken? She can use all the mutant powers!

So i have always liked both the Avengers and the X-Men, and now they are fighting? I never knew that this had happened before but I will be sure to read this one.

Yeah, but it tires her out quick. Namor still kicked her as though.

Nah Tony had defenses against Prof X, he damn sure has something for Mags.

And don't call Magneto Shirley.

I hope bad mouthing X-Factor is bannable but I hope if he picks it up he can be unbanned.

X-Factor is the only book I pick up every month. Its a special type of X-book that isn't concerned with creating new status quos or special events (though it has to follow X-Men books lead). and I think thats why I like it so much. Its just Peter David doing his own thing and doing it well.

Fear itself is a fun read, but if you are going to pick up anywhere you should probably start at the Civil War story arch. That seems to be a pretty good point to pick up on the Marvel universe.

I hated schism

What they did with the Hellfire club was so Goddamn retarded. Whenever children get brought in as main villains, it is something I just cant get used to. You can have as many space monster virus whatever but children are unbelievable.
The second part that I took issue with was the fight between Logan and Scott, neither of them would fight like that when a sentinel was coming at them risking everyone they care for. The whole dynamic of the sentinel made it cheap, it should have just been a straight up brawl between the two. Stupid stupid stupid.

1. I am getting worried. They mentioned Pixie vs. Squirrel Girl in one interview, and then left them out of the prewiew covers for the Vs. books. They better not be trolling.

2. I would love to get a taste of zombie in this. Any chance?

yeah, i agree with most of your analysis.

BUT it got wolverine back to his original characterization, someone who is trying to fight their impulse to destroy everything around them which is great.

I agree with the helfire club thing but Arron(SP?) has done a good job with wolvie & the x-men.

Man, people hate the new Hellfire Club. I love it. Perfect antithesis to the core thematics of the X-Men. A new generation, an evolution, if you will.

And of course, perfect foil to a school of kids.

She hasn't been around that long and it probably hasn't come up. I dunno. Everyone else knows about it.

Ah. How long has Hope been with the X-Men? Because if it's been like, a year I guess I can see why no one would comment on the whole "Oh by the way, the man your named for's wife was killed, her entire family massacred, and her children hunted because of this thing that's sort of coming for you. And did we mention you look a lot like her so the alien empire that slaughtered her whole family would probably not think twice about killing you?"

Just seems like that should've been the first thing for them to tell her. "Hey Hope! You were born with red hair in Marvel comics! If you aren't killed off by aliens or whatever, you'll still have to sell your marriage to the devil!"

Random question: what's the deal with Cyke's jetpack? Seems like it comes up a lot: is it a big deal for him now? Where'd he get it? Why haven't they outfitted the rest of the team with them?

still tryin to figure that one out...the headbutt should've ...well put him in a coma.

he would be lucky with a coma. massive brain damage seems more likely.
it just seems stupid to try to fight wolverine hand to hand unless you have a death wish.

This is a question I've had about the x-men for a while now, and I guess I'll ask it here since it seems super-relevant: There's plenty of x-men like cyclops whose power seems to be some offensive thing. If that's all the powers they've got, then they are squishy vulnerable meatbags as far as getting hit goes. Do they all have some passive resiliency mutation that I don't know about, or is this just a thing that gets ignored in the stories?

outside of rogue, Sebastian Shaw, magneto , namor , danger room, and Juggercollossus ( im sure theres some that have magical protection as well like Magik or maybe Pixie) the rest of the "active" the ones who are on utopia would die if they went up against someone like Thor, Ms Marvel, Thing, Hulk, Valykrie and her bs spacetime blades etc.

Compared to those level characters they are glass cannons yeah. The xmen have a huge advantage on the mental abilities side....then again that wont help with vision... The xmen are the better "team" though they work as one , and usually have a telepath coordinating them from afar. That was their thing, working together it was over.

I wonder where X factor and X force fit into all this.

It has only been about a year and on top of that she already knows about the whole "being the mutant messiah" thing and that already weighs heavily on her. It's understandable they didn't bombard her with all the old Phoenix bullshit, but at the same time she has displayed Phoenix-like powers that other X-Men have noted so it doesn't make sense at all that they haven't told her about it at all.

I hope you come back soon to read this. X-Factor is great. It does not hold itself to the "never change" golden rule that other books so strictly follow - and that means stuff happens, characters come and go - and potentially die.

It is the only exciting place for Lorna/Havok, mostly because on every other book, they would not have gotten a single storyline - they would have been kept on the "also starring" corner where there is Alison and Hellion and other poor souls.

I'm okay with that, Richard had a good death along with Starlord.

I would be okay with a Nova, but those 8 pages of introduction he had instantly soured me on it. I agree their "death" was good, but people have returned from waaaay worse in Marvel continuity and it didn't seem like something that's intended to stick for very long if it weren't for the fact Nova's not an A-list character by any means. Don't forget they basically still had a literal Deus Ex Machina device in the palm of their hands.

SO its fear itself except with Pheonix shards instead of Asgard hammers?

nah Fear itself was just...ugh the never ending trailer, nothing happened....unless of course you read the issues of Journey Into Mystery taht were tied into it, and realized that Loki > serpent.

This is honestly looking like House of M the rematch, ...i wonder if Childrens Crusade will be done before this starts.

Pretty much my reaction exactly. Can't wait to see that. 8O

What state is Rogue's character in these days? I never read Legacy. Is she a basket case like she was in Xtreme X-Men? I vaguely recall her getting "reset" thanks to Mystique. So she can just sap peoples powers now?

Namor vs Thing? Really? One of the most powerful mutants against a living rock?

I'm pretty sure someone referenced a writer's comments that the covers don't necessarily showcase specific matchups but more concepts/themes being matched up. We had Emma Frost and The Hulk on one...that fight should last a couple seconds with Hulk safely emerging as the victor.

Last I checked she has total control over her powers now and can make skin-to-skin contact with somebody without draining their energy involuntarily.

Thats good. 20-30 years (in real time) with the X-Men and shes the only one Prof X hadn't been able to help. Which is kind of sad since that was the whole purpose of the school and why Mystique sent her there.

Yeah, I dunno. I mean, the Mutant Messiah thing seems like an overblown label that they put on her. Like "You're the first born mutant in who knows how long! You're our savior because of that!"

It doesn't seem as important as "Also you are displaying signs of being affiliated with a force that once drove a nice, reasonable young woman so insane that she ate a sun and became the boogieman for an entire galactic empire, not to mention her clone opening a hell mouth in New York, the time she flew Asteroid M into the sun, the time she single-handedly beat down Galactus' Heralds, or the time that her daughter- that nice lady over there- used said force to fight Galactus himself! Oh, hey, have you seen Auntie Rachel's neat tattoo?"

I can't wait to read this.
I haven't read comics in a hot minute.

Then, once this is all done with, I want a "Marvel Super Heroes 2: Avengers vs. X-Men" fighting game.

lol.

Professor X also couldn't help Cyclops (control his blasts) or Wolverine (remember who the hell he was).

WTF was that guy good for, anyway?

Cyclops got the ruby quartz visor at least. And Wolverine did find some peace. Enough to keep it contained most of the time. I mean he is the Headmaster of the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning. Thats a big evolution I'd say.

Prof X already admitted he knew he probably couldn't help her but he lied about it so she'd go to his school and stop being a super villain.
