Both Is Good The Road To El Dorado GIF

I mean, there’s a reason both have maintained fans for decades. Countless solid comics, cartoons, movies, etc. have been made with both universes. So I see no reason to prefer one over another especially given the vast amount of stories that have been told with across a bunch of mediums makes it honestly impossible for me to pick regardless.

Manga.
In all seriousness, DC for comics, Marvel for movies.

I have read very few comic books, but I like stuff from Mcfarlane and the guy who did Watchmen.

Excluding how completely shitty they are now my answer is Marvel. As far as DC goes I like Superman and Batman but more so their incarnations in other media.

Marvel on the other hand I'm a huge fan of Spider-man, Punisher, the Midnight Sons, classic Ms. Marvel, Excalibur, the New Warriors, and X-Men.

Neither. I buy Boom!

I read Buffy and that's about it at this point. Spider-Man and Venom are fun but there's just way too many concurrent books to keep up with.

I do miss it though. 😔

Not really a comic person, but I'd go with DC.

The characters in DC are better and the heroes/villains are just so much more powerful.

The DC universe is just OP compared to Marvel. Superman alone could easily one shot every character in the Marvel universe and not break a sweat.

Movies: Dark Knight is the only comic movie I would consider a great movie. Logan was cool too but I have no desire to rewatch it.

Comics: 🤷‍♂️

Games: Pretty close to me. One one hand you have Arkham Asylum, Injustice, Gotham Impostors.... then MVC, Xmen arcade, Spiderman 2018.... idk.

I'm retarded?
DC only has one great hero that I love but Marvel has at least 3. A better question would be, Batman or Spiderman? Tough decision for me. These two are the perfect type of heroes, movie wise and game wise.

Right now the avengers is waking up crowds and has been controlling big screens, dark knight c. nolan are actually their own thing kinda not DC, Justice league is sexy but feels like a spare tire compared to the avengers and than there's everything else iron fist, punisher, ant man, peace maker etc.

Never been into superheroes (comics or movies), but I prefer DC if I had to choose. Only Marvel heroes I like are Blade and Punisher, but Punisher NF show was terrible.

My brother grew up with tons of comics. I read some of them. Back then he called DC comics "dumb comics" as he'd say they are so cheesy, have fake cities and dumb names (both hero name and their real name). GUess it made sense. Reading XMen, West Coast Avengers and his Punisher intro set seemed a lot better than Batman or that Superfriends cartoon.

But somehow movie wise, DC movies are awesome and gritty. And Marvel are the cheesy ones with goofy action and jokes every 2 minutes.

Call me nuts, but I'd put Batman TAS series above all DC and Marvel movies.

not a huge fan of either. superhero stuff ain't really my thing but i'd pick DC. i kinda like batman and that's about it. i'm not a huge batman fan but they are the only superhero movies i've ever enjoyed. i'll be going to see the new Batman this week and that'll be the the first superhero movie I've gone to the cinema to watch.

i also watched the suicide squad movies which i didn't enjoy too much. watched that birds of prey movie which i liked a bit.

as for marvel, i saw infinity war and black widow. i had no idea WTF was happening. i did consider trying to watch all the movies but there are too many and i don't have the time for that. some seem interesting but a lot of them look ridiculous.

Big difference between DC and Marvel movies are DC ones are more gritty, the hero/villain are more one on one, and the plot and characters are deeper.

Marvel movies have giant character sets, villains, those sentry bots etc.... leading to huge scale CGI fights. You barely know anything about them except how they got their super powers as mutants (born with it) or a freak accident gave them powers and next thing you know they are world police.

I'll preface this with IDGAF about super heros:
DC because the batman cartoon in the 90s was better than xmen, spiderman, etc.

I also enjoyed that batman trilogy, and the watchmen movies.

The only thing that DC offers that I enjoy is Batman. Everything else I enjoy sits in the Marvel universe.

That being said, I’m expecting DC to buy the TMNT comic rights here soon and that will be another reason that I will like DC.

I take it you haven't see the latest Joker movie staring Jacquin Phoenix.

DCEU is largely a dumpster fire because WB executives interference with directors vision for what they want to make but they have put out some gems. It's not all trash and the upcoming Batman is getting good reviews from critics.

I haven't yet, heard it was amazing. I'm very behind on my movie list.

I don’t get what people like about Batman, he’s a very boring superhero, and more to my issue with him, he holds back, letting people go all the time.

There is no justice, I see him more as part of the problem, a revolving door for supervillains.

That said, I’m no comic reader so maybe he’s just a moron in the movies.

Everything around Batman is great. Can’t really say much about the rest of DC.

Marvel is good, but I don’t think anything gets near Batman.

Both Marvel/DC had there up/down eras. both seem to be down now. IMOO Jim Shooter Marvel was the best period n superhero comics.

Green Lantern. the lore is the foundation of the whole DC universe. the powers are the coolest in comics.

I want to preface and say I'm not a batman fan but the comics are some of the best in the west, killing joke, hush, dark knight returns. The villains are also very distinct.

The animated series for DC is good as well, not a fan myself but it's watchable.

Had to google who Jim Shooter is and his career at Marvel was around 10 years from late 70s to late 80s. This was exactly the time my older brother stockpiled tons of comics (probably 300 of them) and I'd read some of them.

I dont even think he has them at his house. But somewhere in our parent's basement in cardboard boxes.

I don't think he took care of them that well, though he did end up plastic sleeving most of them I think. But he read them and I did too so the condition of them all cant be that great.

I remember him telling me he probably has some worthy comics worth a bit of money but nothing spectacular. But considering we manhandled them they are probably worth nothing anyway.

I've loved DC since before I can remember and that'll never change.
Sadly WB is a thorn in the side of DC, but what can you do.

I even named my son after Batman.

I find DC infinitevelly better, when its not sucking dick of Batman. I like him, but the boasting and overglorification makes him hard and boring to watch. Another problem is DC movies, which are very bad besides Batman 1 and 2 movie.

Marvel is pretty much a mix bag, in a bad way. I like Spider-man but recent movies and cartoon are very mediocre. The same happens with X-men.
X-men makes me sad because everything circles around Wolverine. I like Wolverine when he was a part of X-men, just like every member of it. Not when he was an overglorified hero and above everyone. Thats why I miss the old animation series, both Spider-man and X-men animated were one of best cartoons, followed by Justice League and Justice League Unlimited.

I never really grew up reading comics, but Batman is one of my favorite fictional characters:

  1. His "train hard and stay sharp" mentality is appealing and relatable.
  2. The fact that he lacks comic level super powers means that -- at least from most contexts I've seen -- his stories are more grounded than most other superheroes. They have local plots and local stakes, with no ridiculous "the universe is at stake!" stuff that so many other superheroes suffer from. I've never been a fan of overpowered superheroes, and that's why Superman stories suffer -- he's so OP that you either have to handicap him somehow (sometimes by giving him an IQ of like... 5 😂), or going to a super high stakes "the universe is in danger!!" plot. An ironic thing about the later approach is that the "higher" the stakes, the lower they actually are.
  3. Over the years, he's been given more martial arts abilities and more action, but at a core, Batman is first and foremost a detective. (It's in the name... Detective Comics (DC)... I remember in the video game Arkham City how Rhas al Ghul rarely calls him Bruce or Batman, he often calls him "detective.") I'm a fan of detectives in general.
  4. He probably has the best known and most iconic rogues gallery of any comics hero, of which of course Joker is the best. But Two-Face, Riddler, Poison Ivy, Penguin.... Too many colorful, interesting, and iconic villains.
  5. I'm always interested in psychology and related topics, and Batman has a lot of psychology in it. Batman himself has trauma and he arguably may even have at least one form of mental illness, and his enemies are often not right in the head either.
  6. I'm a huge fan of fictional lone-wolves and vigilantes.
  7. And plenty of other reasons, but I have to get to work now 😂...

DC has Superman and Batman, and that’s cool.

Marvel though, they have a ton of great characters. Maybe because for the most part, it’s much easier to relate to them.

I grew up reading mostly Marvel comics (thanks to my cousins stash), so I have a natural fondness towards that brand. I also like the "scientist hero" trope, so I guess I can find more of that among the Marvel crowd (Mr Fantastic, Peter Parker, Tony Stark,...) rather than the DC one (???).

I can only really say Marvel by default because I have read so much more of Marvel. I've read all of 1960's Marvel, 1970-1974 Marvel, all X-Men titles between 2004 and 2008, and a vast chunk of Marvel between 2011-2017. Where as with DC I've literally only read the New 52 books and the start of Rebirth. I guess that means I lean towards Marvel though because their heroes are far more grounded compared to DC.

My favorite heroes would be Daredevil, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Thor, Ms Marvel, both modern Hawkeyes and Scott Lang Ant-Man. Having recently read the Infinity Gauntlet omnibus I have to say that Silver Surfer was pretty fucking awesome in the 90's as well.

Marvel.

But Batman is my favorite superhero, it's just that I don't really care about anyone else from DC while Marvel has several characters I enjoy (Dr Strange, Spider Man, the X-Men, Iron Man, Thor, Daredevil, etc)

I've always been partial to Marvel.
Spider-Man and Hulk were my main favorites as a kid in the 80's
I liked Super Friends but they really cheesed it up with the dog and the wonder twins..
then you go to something like the Spider-Man show I'd watch every Saturday Morning with Firestar and Iceman.. just loved it..
when it comes to DC I like Flash and Batman and.. that's really it
Superman is just too powerful and boring

Ok I did like Wonder-Woman..in fact that was probably my first exposure to heros in the form of Lynda Carter
I was about 3 years old and I would run around the house in my underwear and red rain boots yelling that I was underwoman and the fact my brothers will never ever let me live it down
may be why I'm not longer that into her.

Neither, maybe has something to do that comic books weren't sold/very unpopular in much of europe.
Don't like most of the newer superhero movies, where internal consistency went out of the window with time travel/resurrection/multiverse/magic stones etc. But I guess that's a comic book classic anyway.

I like some image comics though.
