Marvel or DC? What do you prefer?

I've been a DC guy all my life. Recently started reading Marvel and now have more Marvel titles on my pull list than DC. Both have gone downhill overall but there's definitely plenty of good titles to choose from. Anything at DC by Williamson is usually good. Marvel also had an excellent X-Men book by Zeb Wells called Hellions that recently ended. I would say I prefer neither. Both have their good titles.

Edit: My favorite superhero is still Batman despite DCs over reliance on the character.

DC because it has Superman and Batman.
I love Marvel movies and was genuinely impressed with the culmination of every movie into Infinity War and Endgame, but it's hard to give a shit beyond that.
I also love that DC takes risks with their properties - for good or bad.
Marvel is always seeing how it will fit into a Disney+ mini-series of lesser and lesser quality. I can totally see when all this starts to wane, they will pull Star Wars into the Marvel universe. With the multiverse, nonsense like this is a concern.

I doubt brand loyalty carries over DC or Marvel movies. But... my alltime favorite character is (Balent) Catwoman... 💕

Batman and Joker are my favorite "hero/vigilante and villain" combo from pretty much any fictional medium (movies, comics, videogames, action figures, etc). The whole aesthetic of Gotham is so dark/gritty and that's cool to me. I loved Batman TAS growing up, loved The Dark Knight, loved the Arkham games.

Not a huge fan of anything else DC related, like Superman, who is too powerful and is kind of boring to watch.

On the topic of Marvel, Spider-Man is easily my favorite "real" superhero. I LOVED the Sam Raimi/Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies growing up. But everything else about Marvel is kind of corny and too colorful for me. I never understood why people genuinely like shit like Captain America lol, dude looks so lame. The Hulk is another abomination that has been dumbed down soooo much since the early 2000's. I do really like Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man, though, so there is some cool stuff in the MCU.

Overall I'd say I prefer DC more. I think though it has more to do with that I watched a lot more dc movies and tv shows in the past. I liked the DC cartoons(batman), tv shows(smallville or lois and clark), and the older movies( superman or batman). Marvel has been great. The endgame was epic, xmen97 cartoon was great, and I loved Blade and Tobey's Spiderman. While I do think the MCU movies are good it was only the end game that got me super excited when watching the movie. I guess the recent spiderman counts as well but half that is because of Sony's old spiderman that I love that movie. Oh yeah, deadpool was fun.

It's a fair question, but I'm often surprised when I am reminded that there are pockets of fandom that feel a need to choose one over the other. They're all in the same playing field to me. Love them all.

It really just comes down to the creative team behind each character/studio/project.

Old old Superman stuff is the best. I also really enjoyed the novelization of the Death and Return of Superman.
