Im having trouble working with Hsien-ko too but im not dropping her. Im gonna figure her out.

Teamed up with Super Skrull and Viper

I'm using X-23 and Dormomma with Hsien-Ko and it isn't working. I rather like X-23 and Dorm is a solid anchor, he's been saving my ass. It's Hsien-Ko that's getting me killed, she's too easy stay on top of and takes a ton of damage, so I feel I should at least temporarily bench her and play around with the roster more. I still have yet to try everyone out anyway lawl.

I feel Hsien-Ko is fantastic against Sent though. Pendulum swing assist while she has hyper armor up makes it so easy to interrupt because of his size.

Knocked out about two thirds of the combo missions so far. These are a little tougher than I was anticipating, though I think what's really screwing me up is that I can't focus on the move scroll and the action at the same time.

Is that Morrigan really flight canceling fireballs?!???? WTF
She can flight cancel damn near anything. Shoryuken -> Fly can make unsafe SRKs safe! Practically like a meterless Baroque cancel for safety. Shoryuken -> Fly -> Shoryuken is lolz as well.

Oh God, excellent Morrigan play on stream. <3
I missed it. :( Archive anywhere?

I just don't have the hand dexterity to pull this stuff off, I get stuck on every single characters mission mode as soon as it asks me to do a cancel, I just can't do it.
A lot of the stuff in Mission Mode seems to be intended to make you rub your stomach and pat your head at the same time for no real reason. I mean, stuff like stand L > crouch M > stand H is nice to demonstrate that a specific character can switch between standing/crouching normals in a combo at will (not all of them can), but when you combine a whole lot of that kind of stuff into the same combo I start to go cross-eyed. @_@

Hsien-Ko seems to be built more as a point keep away character. Her toss moves can fill the screen and cause a random dizzy for some free damage plus combining it with her Gold Super Armor, you can keep the pressure up without worrying about getting interrupted.

Have a TE and thinking of rocking this layout...

A1 - - A2
L M H S

...or vice versa, whichever is more comfortable; though my concern with having assists on bottom is accidentally sliding across and activating while doing (read: mashing out) attacks.
More power to you but that is a rough layout....

Ew, no. Use the pad!

There aren't any HCB or 720s in this game, you should be fine on the pad. The bruises on your thumbs are proof that you're getting better!

DY_nasty speaks the truth. I've unlocked all my characters via a long arse practice session, I've spent maybe 4-5 hours alone training my thumbs on the DS3 (till my fightstick ships!). Admittedly, I was in the same position -- but perseverance is key. I can at the very least pull off fairly basic combos that all end/or cancel into hypers.

My biggest hurdle was my timing, I'd push buttons as fast as possible which led to more random smashing than anything else. I slowed down... literally, hitting each sequential button as slow as possible and slowly sped up to match the time 'frame' of the next attack. Now everything doesn't move fast, I can keep up. Also, I use only my thumbs -- can't do the arcade fingers on the DS3.

Protip: From noob to noob(?), just take your time. Don't rush it (literally). Also two button Dash > Forward, Forward.

I've been playing this since this morning and I have to admit that I really suck but I finally started to get into the hang of things.

I don't have specific team at the moment but so far the standout characters that I will probably be using are Akuma, Amaterasu, Dante, Chris Redfield, Storm, Wolverine and Zero. I haven't really played with anyone else but I look forward to trying the rest of the characters.

Got it and rolling. Great fun so far. I'm terrible, but I managed to eak out a few wins with MODOK, Trish, Ironman combo. Trish's peekaboo assist is great, but I'm thinking of swapping MODOK for Dorm. I love zoning, but I'm just too used to up being some type of jump so that low flight mode of MODOK gets me in trouble.

I just got on about 15 minutes ago, and reading the thread it seems that Buk brought to light why Doom is the anchor in my team since Friday, oh boy.

He's so good that it isn't funny, in fact I already got him in my second team in the making with Felicia / Doom / Sentinel - I wanted to put X-23 in instead of Felicia because I seriously have her down pact, even better than my Wesker, but one of my boys is already maining her on point and I hate mirror matches / same character fights - shit.

Guess I'll be watching the archive to see how disgusting this Chun/Doom combo is...

OH MAN I GOT THE GAME AND IT'S SEX!!!!

Put the game on install and played on training mode for like.... maybe 6 hours straight. HOLY SHIT!!!! It felt weird at first because I am used to MVC2 and not TVC but I got the hang of it quickly. Dante's "during moves" actually require timings and you definitely have to play extremely well with him or you will have random moves come out that will cause you to be punished. Still a button mashers dream.

I tried out Wesker/Iron Man/Dante team first like Max's and it's a blast. Then I called over a bunch of friends, got some pringles and had A FUCKING MAHVEL PARTY!

It was hella fun even though most of my friends were playing on Simple mode it was just crazy awesome fun all around. One of my friends was better at fighting games and he got the hang of the game after I told him how OP Sentinel was... then we had ourselves an epic challenge match.

Sentinel/Dormammu/Doom (team evil bad asses) vs Phoenix/Wolverine/Storm (team X-men)

Man that match was INTENSE AS FUCK Dorm + Doom are god's at zoning and Sentinel's assists was making my life a nightmare. Thank god for Wolverine's back slash which brings him behind opponent, if you hit you can Berserker Charge that for a free combo. I played cheese with Storm too and the game came close then I got X Factor'd by Sentinel's Hyper.

Phoenix vs Sentinel X Factor both for epic showdown... I had limited time with Phoenix so I was basically playing her like Storm. I got him into a BnB combo with her as Dark Phoenix and won the game with my life depleted almost to 0.

I ALMOST CAME!!! Friends were on the edge of the seat and clapped after the match because even they knew that Phoenix had shit health and Sentinel was sort of OP. Never felt so good.... THIS GAME IS GOTY!

Good lord I was blowing folks up with my troll team online. Hulk, Sentinel and Haggar just destroying people. I actually got an achievement for winning a match without blocking or backing up. They had X23, Dante and Phoenix. Hulk smash.

So just tried out the Marvel pad.

Its pretty good. The buttons are at a slightly different angle then the Madcatz pad so I'm having some difficulty getting use to it.

Likewise it is a stick so my dashes arent as precise as the pad. It will take some getting use too.

I tried it in SSF4 too and my Cammy instant dive kicks have improved exponentially and some of those types of moves are now easier but my FADC ultras are struggling as I need to get use to the stick.

dude in mahvel you dash with two buttons, not ff!

Marvel 3 is just fantastic. Got my hands on an SE after a little trouble. I have to say I was never too hyped for this, but maybe it was while I was playing Super. But goddamn is this game great. I could sit in the training mode all day like Seth mentioned before. The possibilities are just endless. Currently going Zero/Dante/Phoenix. Dark Phoenix anchor action! Got Floyd with it.. :D But got absolutely owned by Q and Ferrios keepaway antics. Honestly, I've been at it for half of the day, that and my right hand is a bit sore :lol

And this game is definitely better for keep away players/characters. Even though a lot of rushdown characters have more ways of getting in, it's still hella tough.

Even though my friend was a super scrub at this game, with Sentinel Drones, Doom Rockets and Dormammu at point there was very little I could do to get in. He made a solid team out of pure luck.... only because I told him Dormammu was like the Blackheart of this game and he picked him instantly.

Sentinel is fucking hilarious. Went online with Deadpool/Dante/Sentinel and am at 5-0 right now, I handled 3 of them just with Dante but the other 2 got rid of everyone, so out comes Sent! Pop level 3, spam mouth beams and if they get close just mash launch and kill them in 2 hits. So many people don't block, use assists, or change characters...it's insane.

I also went into arcade on very hard and level 3 x-factor sent finished off about the last half of Galactus' life in about 4 hits, lol.

Holy shit, Wesker is a fucking G. I've got to commend Capcom with translations of some of their characters. Wesker (RE5) and Dante behave almost exactly as I'd expect if they were stuck in a 2D plane.

I'm still trash but I'm having a good time. I can't seem to do SRK motions consistently though, is that stupid shortcut in this as well? I'm doing shit that bears no resemblance to QCF yet the QCF move still comes out.

Having a lot of fun using Wesker, although I feel like I can't properly control him yet. Super Skrull is probably my second favourite so far. Don't really have a third character yet so my teams are always a mishmash. Hell, I don't even know how well Wesker and Super Skrull really work together (it's hard to tell since 80% of my playing today was in training).

Damn this game is fun.

I am so done with street fighter 4 lol

I need to find a 3rd for my team and I'm having a hell of a time doing so. Any suggestions who to team up with She Hulk and Doom?

Did you order from shopto?
If so I should be getting my copy today as well!

Hell yeah I did, always a 100% chance of getting the game early. (at least with my experience with them)

EDIT: Damn this is going to be a long day at work, 7 hours left yet.. :'|

LOL Tron Bonne is truly Sentinel with a training bra. Her attacks do SO MUCH DAMAGE in X Factor it's absurd.

I think the highest is Hulk, if he gets you with a jumping S or H it will cause a bounce and he can launcher you for a combo that will guarantee kill you even if you have Sentinel.

Chun Li or Trish. They both work excellent with Doom and with Chun-Li you can lock down the opponent long enough to set up some grapples or moves with She Hulk. Go for Trish if you want more zoning/trapping or for Chun-Li if you want more rushdown. In the end you should pick the character that is easier to DHC into and out to with your other characters (like see if you can link She Hulk's super into Chun-Li's super).

I'm sure you will get it eventually if play it enough and shortcuts aren't supposed to work here either, i'm sure there's a way to turn on inputs in training mode and test it though.

You God damn son of a bitch. Tempted to just pop it into my dev kit whilst nobody is looking and play :lol

This game is truly crack. Even when I am not playing I am thinking of team combinations and combos that I am going to try in training mode. Eventually I start getting so many ideas that I have to write them down some place so I don't forget. Because when I DO play the game in training mode I am totally blank at the characters select screen... LOL.

Capcom clearly put the most effort into the CORE of the game which is super super solid. I like it that way, it's a bit bare bones yes but I prefer a game that has extremely solid game play over a game with only OK game play and a lot of luxury features.

Magneto + Spider Man is a good combination that I found out.

Anyone know of good arcade stick deals? I got one of the MadCatz SFIV SE sticks last night at Gamestop for $40 and my wife absolutely loves it so now I need to get a second.

After day one, spending all even with a fighting game (which I never play) using the SSFIV Rd. 2 TE joystick (which I never really played with but now am a huge fan, thinking about maybe getting an octo gate for it, although Ive never modded before), my hands have gaming hangover. Very sore, but hurt so good.

Did one playthrough of Arcade, entered a few lobbies, played around 8 matches (won one!) and spend a vast majority of the time in the training room using Normal (not messin' with simple). It was fun going through and playing various characters, seeing who I want to use as a primary team and there will be some growing pains. Right now my main team is looking like it'll consist of a combination of Deadpool and (Dante, Ammy, Zero, Wolverine, Joe, or Skrull).

Wont really be able to touch it again until Friday earliest, but I cant wait. This will be played all weekend.

Definitely thinking of having the Cap as my point man. I like how he eats up Sent's hypers.
I want to play Taskmaster and Viper too, but I think I'd be better of building a team that works, rather than using all three of my favourites. I'm not 12, any more, Capcom..

Maybe I'll spam that Chris assist. Sanford made that shit look crazy..

Dante gets more and more insane. Someone find out some uses for his Acid Rain moves. OTG haters will cry.

Some great stuff for this team shown off (Dante/Super Skrull/Tron).

Yeah apparently someone made Jill playable from the disk but she is unfinished in that she doesn't have all our dialogues in yet and her main hyper sucks ass (like it's useless). All her art assets are in though.
