On the topic of spamming... does anybody have tips for how to deal with it in this game? I'm still not that great at this game yet.

Say for example, if somebody like Arthur is projectiling the crap out of me from across screen, how do I get out of that mess before I get chipped to death?

super jump then air dash.

or

teleport

or

invincible assist (Hisen-ko pendulum assist with yellow awesomeness activated)

Talking about assists, I was trying the challenges that require assists in the combo. I must be doing something wrong cause the assist never continues the combo. I mean you can't call while attacking, and they usually take forever to come out... how the hell do you do that.

I think it's like Arakune in BlazBlue. You essentially need to hit the button earlier in anticipation of when your assist will come in to continue the combo.

Is hate mail more of a 360 thing or something? In all the fighters I've played on the PS3, I've never once gotten any sort of hate mail, and I've played thousands of matches between SSFIV, MvC3, BBCS, and Tekken 6.

It's on both, but with 360 you have the added "bonus" of getting angry voice messages on top of mail.

I used to get a lot of hate mail in SF4, but a lot less so in SSF4. Also got a lot in Tekken 6 and Soul Calibur IV. Not much in BB, but I don't play that much to begin with and I suck at it anyway.

Marvel 3 is definitely a game that's gonna incite lots of rage-quitting/hate mailing, IMO.

It seems like people really hate my playstyle. I've never gotten so much hatemail before

May I play you, please? :3 I promise I won't send you hate mail. :D

I had no idea Trish had a lvl 3 Hyper in this game. It's sexy as hell. I wish she could use Luce and Ombra (I believe that's the names) during her regular move-set.

I've received hate mail in SSFIV on PS3. I tend to do the opposite, I'll actually send out mail to players who play well.

I'll do this too, but sometimes they will send back replies that are not quite-so-friendly back.

I do this as well. I try my best not to rage over stupid things anymore. It's the reason I stopped playing CoD.

Right, but earlier I'm still smacking someone... which correct me if I'm wrong you can't call out exists if you're not neutral right?

Don't judge me please.

I'm one of those people that were generally never that good at fighting games, I would get mildly good but never outstanding. I tried to play Wolverine's mission modes last night, and maybe it was because of the xbox 360 controller, but some of these combos seemed impossible to use mid fight unless I performed them accidentally while button mashing.

Maybe I need to get my Arcade Stick out, but I was never that good at using those in the past. I was actually better at playing the SSFIV and Blaz Blue on the regular controller. Maybe I just need to get adjusted to it.

Also as someone who is more casual with fighting games, it's a big disappointment that there is hardly any unlockables in this game. I used to love playing through each character on fighting games to unlock more items.

Why do the endings suck so much too? They seem to get worse with each successive generation.

How do you hold an Arcade Stick? I use to hold the ball with my hand over it in a fist gripping it or holding it on the side clenched like I'm holding a stick. I see a lot Japanese arcade players holding an arcade stick with their palm underneath the stick with the stick between one of their fingers.

I had the same issue with Arcade Sticks, but I just persevered and eventually it stuck.

Also, I don't think anyone's going to argue with you that this game is pretty barebones and the endings are pretty lame.

Not saying I could do it, but use like Wesker to tele or use Skrulls Meteor Smash. Use someone w/ a tele

I wish I was good enough to troll people online with keepaway teams :(

Some people collect baseball cards. I collect angry messages from Xbox live scrubs.

Another thing I like with Zero is the heavy Hienkyaku its so fast its almost like a tri-jump. I like to do a heavy attack on the way down, it can cross them up, or land in front it can be hard for them to tell. Its cool.

The Hienkyaku in the air that brings you straight down can be used for shenanigans too. Canceling an air dash into Hienkyaku is really cool and catches people off guard as well.

I had someone rage quit a player match, then sent me a message saying 'you suck, learn how to play dante.'

This was after I used Dante to OCV his whole team.

I believe so, yes. You'll have to press it between hits of the combo.

Well, obviously you were taking far too long to OCV him. Gosh.

I started getting messages like that last night too, LOL. One guy called me a "stupid-spamming noob" after I took out his entire team with Storm or Arthur; forget which one it was, but he would try to get into a fireball war with me and lose, or just keep jumping forward right into my projectiles when he had Felicia out.

I notice that a lot of people I play also never super-jump or push-block, so I take complete advantage of that. People get really ticked when they try jumping over Arhtur's projectile super, only to find that Arthur can jump up while doing it!
I've also noticed a lot of projectile spammers don't seem to get that you can easily air-dash over that noise. I've played against a few Arthurs, and Ryus that are just bafled when I float over their spam with Joe, or fly around it with Iron Man.

I've yet to see more than two Sentinel players online though, which is odd considering how many I expected to see. So far Wesker is the one that I've had the most trouble with in matches. He is a rushdown beast. I'm playing on PSN and my name is Andryke.

I'm still pretty scrubby now with my controller. I will need to invest in an arcade stick to really get as serious with this game as I intend to.

Edit: Also. Been maining Dante for a while now, and I'm still just noticing moves he has that I haven't used. He's ridiculous. I can't even begin to figure out a strategy for all of them, and I've just settled on a "set" of supers that I find are better suited to my play style, and ignore the more obscure ones. I actually go out of my way to not use his light attack supers.

It's better to have loved and lost than to have ordered from the Capcom store :(

Sorry about that. Nowhere else around sells games? At least the game is selling well.

Pinky and ring finger on the bottom of the ball, with the lever between them - aka the Daigo grip.

It's probably most suited to traditional SF, but I actually first started using it in Guilty Gear so I imagine it can work in MvC3 as well.

Yeah, there are other places but I've got a shitload of in-store credit at Gamestop. I'll probably have another copy before the end of the day, but withdrawals will hit me hard.

Had my first rage-quitter tonight...Arthur's daggers and lances beat a number of characters' projectiles every time, and some players just cannot seem to accept this.

Sounds like YOU'RE the asshole there.

Classy, huh?

Teknopathetic said:
Got a rage quit my very first ranked match. New record?

I am the exact opposite of the rage quit. If I get destroyed I just want to keep trying, kind of like when you are playing solo and can't beat a boss, and you just keep trying until you win. Yeah that's my strat.

Numbers don't mean shit to me.

ALL SPAM = ALL HATE

Throw some combos in there and don't abuse stuff just because people are new..

..well if it's ranked, do whatever you please.

As the fates would have it, this is, without exaggeration, one of the busiest weeks of the past year for me, professional and personal. No MvC3 tonight or tomorrow, but this weekend.... ooohhhhhh, this weekend. I fully plan on going from scrub that has no idea what he's doing to a scrub that vaguely has an idea of what to do, but cant do it yet!
