SF4 didn't run on MT Framework unlike MvC3 so they had to start their networking layer from scratch again. MvC3 is also *tons* faster then SF4 and has a hell of a lot more to keep track of which is going to add to the network bandwidth requirements.
Well they needed to start from scratch. There's nothing special about SF4's netcode.

Like I said, BlazBlue was a port of an arcade game and runs perfectly. 10 year old games on emulators run better. There's no excuse.

Pretty much this...

If this were 2003 and there weren't a way to update a game regularly without releasing a dozen new versions, then it'd make sense. But Capcom is just bending people over with this shit...

I'm ready to see how bad the ps3 version is compared to the 360 one!

BlazBlue is the gold standard for features in fighting games with the exception of playing against ghosts. It's the standard for story mode. The standard for online play. The standard for training modes. Period.

I know people don't like to talk about story modes in fighters, but Capcom released three trailers showing off all these characters in some sort of overarching storyline and...NOTHING. There's no story mode and character endings are two pictures and text. Pathetic.

Yeah, Capcom has shown that they give a shit about tourney organizers. DLC costumes and characters and all. Yep, they truly care.

lol and BB isnt popular enough to influence Capcom to do any of the stuff they are doing. So we get silence and excuses and incomplete products.

No performance comparison yet, but they did a good screen shot comparison.

I'm definitely not playing the part of apologist for Capcom in regards to the menus and for some of the netcode issues, but... BlazBlue had like, what, 12 characters as compared to 36? Yeah.

Smooth shadows and better texture filtering on the 360. That's it.

They do say one version has tearing and the other doesn't though...I can't really say whether that's bad or not. If the tearing is minimal, the version lacking vertical sync is likely a little more responsive (<1 frame more responsive).

Really though, the games are pretty much identical.

There's more variety in those dozen characters then all of SSF4's roster... Its an incredibly diverse cast.

BUT ANYWAYS

Do we right a letter or something? I just want the online to work. I'm going to be out of the country in a few months and I'd like to at least think that Capcom gives a fuck.

Ok this Justin Wong in the lab video sucks. He shows 3 combos and then spends 35 minutes talking about his past in Marvel.

*yawn*

Nineteen.

Eh, whatever. No sense in continuing down this line of thought. The lack of spectating makes playing with friends online a chore. As long as it remains as such, it will be tough to bother playing it after the hype dies down.

There's a lot more to what he's doing/saying than comboez...

For those of us who've played a lot of mvc2, his opinions on the changes that've been made to the old characters and gameplay in general carry a lot of weight. Triangle jumping in particular...

There should have been a real training mode that teach you about your characters, rather than you having to figure it out from combo lists, or discovery as you press buttons in training mode.

Word. This is my only real gripe about this game. As someone new to the series I genuinely just want to learn the game's fighting system (both in general and on a per character basis), and I want to do it in the game itself, not reading online guides or watching videos.

It's surprising to me and feels somewhat lazy that they wouldn't try harder to cater for newcomers in this regard considering it's been so long since the last game was released, even more so when you consider the general sense of there being a fighting genre revival.

ahhh got this game yesterday and been practicing!!

wanna learn Okami but daaaang these weapon switch combos are HARD!!

I am stuck on missions #6 and #10, I jus do not have the execution to do weapon switch in combo >_<

MvC's boxart makes me weep more everyday.

She-Hulk has the face of some kind of toddler in that pic. Pretty cool otherwise.

I really look forward to the lens of truth article. The thing is, these two games on stream look exactly identical, but when I play my copy (PS3), I notice the slow down during particle effects, and character intros. Those don't show on streams at all. The reports of people getting the slowdowns on the 360 as well makes me curious to see how identical they really are.

Ugh I suck. When going on the offense I get out prioritized ALOT. It's a bit frustrating, one combo and my character is pretty much done for. I also need to work on my execution..sigh..

Marvel 74/180
Capcom 57/180

Total 131/360, might practice to get the 160 trophy, but no way will I be able to hit the 320 trophy, le sigh

Here is my horrible stats LOL:

Okay, just fought a guy online who just did some hulk air combo over and over and over and over and over and over for 5 straight matches. >.> So far everyone I fight online just spams a single move. Need to practice I reckon.

I was debating which one to get and after playing both the only difference I could see was that the PS3 version loads slower, maybe 3-5 seconds longer, than the installed Xbox 360 version.

Ended up getting PS3 cause my buddy only has a PS3 and he is my only friend I know that actually plays Mahvel.

Capcom is so fucking stupid sometimes OMG WHY ISNT THAT THE FUCKING COVER!!!

they prolly think using a famous comic artist would make their cover better even if the art is shit. thank gawd for the SE cover.

Ya. I ran into some shit like that. Really stupid losing over it too. I need to work on all three of my characters before I go back online. I'm not satisfied with my online performance so far (14-6 or 7)

why the fuck is this games matching me up with dudes with 80 wins and shit?

fuck it's no fun getting owned by dudes who are that much better than you

I'm sure this has already been asked, but how do I record actions in training mode? I ... can't figure this out. :(

Am I the only one who is experiencing some slight slowdowns during fights? (PS3)

online lag is an issue with the game from what i read. or are you talking about single player?

While in training mode go to button config and assign "P2 Record" and "Playback" to buttons.

That SE cover was also drawn by a comic book artist, the profession isnt the problem, its the taste level by the people involved in these decisions.

Adi Granov is an amazing artist, that cover is the poorest example of his art I have ever seen.

Go to the controller configuration and set buttons to record and replay.
