there is your problem.

the biggest issue i have with looks like this is the time out.

Oh. So what, I have to just be standing still?

The comment about not responding to input actually had more to do with SRK attacks. The game just feels a little more....mushy as far as controls are concerned than the fighters I'm used to.

You actually want to avoid just tagging in for the most part since it's so unsafe. And only getting 7 or 8/10 SRKs? Don't blame the game, you just need practice.

use dhc or air combo switches to tag in if you can. Raw tag ins are not safe.

I guess. It just seems weird that I can nail 10 SRKs out of 10 in SSFIV, or similar motions in VF5, but suddenly in this game it feels...like I said, mushy. Imprecise.

With that Deadpool loop, is it character specific? Does it only work with him in the corner? Or can you just do it anywhere on anyone to get it going ?

Well, SFIV is a bad example since you can be mushy and imprecise and still get the game to give you the move. I don't know how lenient VF5's inputs are (I imagine they're pretty strict given the game's reputation), but when I don't get the move I want in this game it's because I just screwed up, plain and simple. :p

I bet if you played ST for a while you wouldn't think inputs in this game were off at all, probably just too used to SFIV inputs.

Yeah, VF5 is pretty strict.

Anyway, I do like the game, I'm just getting frustrated when I feel like I'm being handcuffed.

Thanks for the input. ;)

just realized taskmaster can deflect beams. just got to work on timing and then stupid beam spamming x factors won't do shit. is there anyway i can have the cpu in training shoot beams at me? would be awesome.

I enjoy using Morrigan/Viper/Dante and stuff. I'm no expert at all, but I find them to be a fun team for me. Me and my friend (who is also not good at the game much like myself) had a lot of fun playing each other in a good bit of matches.

can someone call capcom and tell them to patch a "Retry" button after it gives you the "Failed to join game" and sends you to the title screen x_x

how does noone think of this shit..

Ok, I'm going to stop playing this game before I destroy my TE stick. Enough of this shit.

Are you dropping these inputs you mentioned online only? It could be lag related which will even out after enough exposure to it.

If you are dropping inputs offline as well then I'm not sure what the reasoning for that is. I really didn't put in a lot of time into fighters until SF4, but I dabbled in a lot of others after that. Now going into MvC3 I have the same consistency as ever.

Maybe your TE is messing up? Did you try testing it out on SSF4 to see if that could be the case?

Definitely don't push yourself if you are getting flustered, but make sure you check everything is running smoothly before jumping the gun to claim the game is the one at fault.

So that's why you're winning...
already had it when you destroyed me the first time. having a solid 3rd member for my team is what really made a difference. i wonder if some people are artificially inflating their records because i sometimes fight people with a record of like 35-7 and i wreck them and then i play some guy that is 10-24 and i have a hard time with him.

Well, you've got it backwards for starters. SF4 has the tendency to register an SRK even if you're not particularly close to the right input. MvC3 and TvC are a little more strict.

Also, you can call an assist during a jump but not a super jump. You can't dry tag unless on the ground.

So is it worth seeking out an arcade stick to play this game with?

I have the revamped 360 controller with the changeable d-pad but
it just doesn't seem as precise still...

Cause it seems Capcom rushed every area of the game other than the fighting.

i could not hit my combos well with the regular 360 pad since the buttons are kinda small and a little too away from each other. the SSF4 pad buttons are bigger and a little closer together as well. the d-pad is way better as well. you might want to go that route before buying an arcade pad since its way more.

It's a piece of equipment. Getting a stick won't automatically make you go from scrub to hero player. For me I had a good consistency on controller, but I wanted 99% consistency so I bought a stick to see if I could get that with it. At first I dipped to awful execution, before I slowly climbed back to where I was and then went to that goal of 99%.

The stick will most likely reset you, but it can pay off immensely once you stick to it.

A good stick, like the TE from MadCatz, will run you $99.99-$149.99. It was worth it for me, but it might not be for everyone if you don't play enough to justify the purchase. If your goal is to really up your game, and you're going to be playing plenty of MvC3 and other fighters in the future as well then it is totally worth it.

not sure how to overcome deadpools 'have gun will shoot' spam. seriously, it's all this one guy did and I had no way to move up there. I tried air dashing, I tried teleporting with dormammu, except it takes longer for me to do the teleport animation than it does for deadpool to shoot again. totally not fun.

Would advancing guard do anything about that?

Ya that's what I was thinking. I can usually pull off srk moves once i warm up with
the xbox d-pad but dp moves are impossible, and I wasn't really sure I wanted
to drop 90 bucks on a stick.

I looked on amazon though and the reviews for the controllers said they felt cheap,
and some said they had reliability issues. Does that seem exaggerated?

I'm able to do everything fine on the 360 dpad, but to each person personally it could be a different story.

well i just got mine and i haven't had any problems with it but who knows what will happen in the future. i don't think they feel cheap at all. its just lighter because it doesn't have a bunch of stuff the regular 360 pad does.

I spend plenty of time in the lab and it just seems that i get the move 7/10 when
I need at least 9/10. I donno. Just seems to me my controller registers me jumping
too much when i don't want to.

Ya not having rumble really takes some weight out. Which I think to me I would
prefer a lighter controller.

I fucking hate the d-pad of the xbox controller. The joystick also sucks ass.

I feel your pain, my fingers used to suffer that controller too, now I play with a custom arcade stick which solves that problem and makes execution a lot easier at the same time.

There's honestly never a time I don't recommend someone to get a stick. I just sort of present what my last post is a bit of an objective warning of information that people should be aware of.

For my personal experience they are 100% kick ass. After my initial hurdle I really felt like a giant barrier was broken to have me stop worrying about inputs anymore and I could just PLAY the game like it was meant to be played. A good example of the improvement was back in regular vanilla SF4 on controller I don't think I beat anyone's challenges fully or even close to. Fast forward to SSF4 and I completed everyones with sticks. Characters like C.Viper to do super jump cancelling into Ultras was just beyond me on a pad, but once I got the stick I felt like I could be more precise on where I wanted my inputs to land on the stick.

The one thing I had to do though was pay an extra $3 dollars to switch out a plastic piece inside called a "gate" to go from square gate to octagonal gate. My issue with the gate that was inside was I would get stuck on the corners often on the stick. I felt like for another $3.00 why not see if it fixes the issue for me. Sure enough once I put that in I reached that 99% goal of execution the same day pretty much.

Maybe message Markman on here to see if there's any deals going on at MadCatz for promotions so you can get a Tournament Edition Round 2 for $99.99 plus shipping. From the few sticks I've used they really are the best bang for every buck hands down.
