so that means everyone can do it and not thor then right?

u can tell I'm a noob :-)

Well everybody who has a command grab would want to do it no? Would you be able to cancel the block stun with X Factor and then hit the launch button and have it connect?

I'd assume your opponent would start to block immediately as you start X Factor.

TvC is a Vs. game.

...That bombed in J-arcades, was not as popular being a Wii-only title, and also didn't have the greatest online system. So I can understand people forgetting about it or never having played it. Nobody knew what the hell "Tatsunoko" was.

I'm just glad that MvC3 doesn't have any giant "mini-boss" characters like PT-X and Gold Lightan. I never liked that about TvC.

I should of specified of the Marvel variety. But you're right, I forgot about that and the SNK games.

The SNK Vs. games are a completely different animal anyway. Similar name, totally different game play.

I hope PTX is DLC.

Carob chips.

We got our dogs homemade carob peanut butter cups recently.

But real chocolate is indeed bad... the purer (darker) the better. I think it's supposed to be like cocaine to dogs.

Bad news for UK (I would surmise Euro-Gaf too) Gaffers..

No MvC3 accessories for us..

I suppose those who import stuff like this will do it anyway. I was kind of looking forward to getting the TE, myself..

Capcom hates Europe confirmed.

Fuck it. I wanted that controller. Looks like I will have to import that bitch.

This is gold!

Okay, so I've never played a Marvel vs. Capcom game before, but I'm super excited for this one. The gameplay looks fast and fluid, and I really dig the design/graphics. My question is, would it be worth it to pick up Marvel vs. Capcom 2 from XBLA before I play this one, or should I just jump in with 3?

Did a GAF search for a OT MvC3 thread 2 days ago and found this thread locked with half a dozen comments because it was made too early.

Come back today to find a metric shit-ton of posts.

Guess my question of "I wonder if anyone else is looking forward to this game" has been answered.

People are saying that Phoenix Wright will never become a DLC fighter because he has no type of fighting skills...

What about Roll in MvsC2?

She looks really weak but they still put her in.

And she was actually usable in TvC

Also remember there was rumor from someone who got the game early of no record mode in training... well from this video you can tell its in. Obviously that would be a dumb thing to not put in. Then again we don't have replays or spectator mode...

You need to be able to make a clear distinction between features that directly affect gameplay and features that dont.

Having replay mode on training is a must for people to be able to practice properly. If you want to get good at parrying in SF III you record a super and then try parrying it. It DIRECTLY affects gameplay.

Regular replays (non interactive movies) or spectator mode DO NOT inflict gameplay at all. They can be introspective and help make the wait easier but the have no effect directly in gameplay. This game is missing some features yes but none of those make it so that you cant play properly.

LOL, what does that have to do with anything? This is as far from realistic as you can get. We've had fighting games with CARS in them before!

And look at Norimaru in MvSF, for that matter.

I've never read the Rap Genius meanings for this song, and I decided to just for fun. AMAZING. http://rapgenius.com/lyrics/Lil-b/Wonton-soup

...I'd totally take one of those Thor avatars also, but I gotta rock Dark Phoenix. Maybe if someone could make one that has Phoenix, Thor, and Ammy in it for Team Basedgod? Hrm.

Not if you don't have people around you to practice with. I learned a lot of my tactics in ssf4 from watching in spectator mode and looking at replays. Yes you can go on youtube and watch captured video but its much easier to hop in a room full of players and see someone pull something off that you never thought of.

Seeing others play is a key part of leveling up in my opinion. When you can only see matches when you are actively involved in them you are limited in your tactical downloading ability.

Edit: After moving to go grad school I lost a lot of sparring partners. Maybe I am the only one who cares about these features.

You can go to youtube and do the exact same thing.

You cant go to youtube and play street fighter.

There will be thousands of videos to improve from, on Youtube, starting with..now.
It DOES NOT directly affects gameplay. In this state of the game, everybody should just play as much as possible, practice, I for one am very happy that if I boot up MVC3, I will be playing in the whole time. Because in SSFIV, I started to despise situations like this:

Me vs someone from our SSFIV community - > make room, play. Best of 5.
1-2 games later, someone comes online, joins party. "Hey, can I join"? (Well, what is the polite thing to say? Come dude).
Then, oh, it is best of 5? Is not that a bit too long? Nah, keep up.
1-2 games later, someone else comes. "Invite!" "Nah, Ill make some room with best of 3, and let us join that. Okay, leave room! Waith, do not leave if you are the owner, and game is ongoing *screen pops up, party dc, etc*...yaay.

And then, it is a mess, and you played like..40% of the time you could have with simple 1v1's and people switching opponents. Not like this wont be patched into MVC3 sooner or later, so...

It's not a deal breaker. That comment in my initial post was more of a side note than anything else. I will play and I will love it.

I recently read Thor: The Mighty Avenger (which was unfortunately canceled after 8 issues), and I liked the art in it a lot.

It may be worth making in to avatars.

6 days!

Edit: Thor looks so cuddly in those. Hey, stop trying to make me late, Oshan! >_<

If I could disagree more, I would. But I can't. You improve by both doing and observing those better than you. You can create gameplans for your opponent by scouting them while they play someone else. Sometimes, new ideas spring forth by something you see while waiting for your match.

To say spectator mode does not affect gameplay, let alone the player, the fanbase and the health of the game is absolutely silly.

Harr? You now will have to actually play against someone to find their weaknesses? So bad! :D

Which is why I said introspective, but if push comes to shove and you're a developer, you always cut first anything that doesn't involve you playing the game.

You can disagree with that and not like it, but thats the way it goes.
