Actually, turning on inputs would tell you exactly what you're doing wrong in this particular case. But if you're really getting this mad over not being able to do a simple dragon punch motion, maybe this isn't the game for you.
Funny that you mention that; it's almost like I have inputs on and it looks like I'm doing it right and yet it still doesn't work! How crazy is that!

Also, for the record, I wouldn't call myself some fighting game savant and I'm certainly out of practice (last time I played one was probably the day or two I played BlazBlue back in August), but it's not like I've never played one in my life, so maybe you should keep your snide, degrading comments to yourself, huh? I'm sorry that not giving you extra information that wouldn't be all that difficult - a tutorial video, a frame counter, fucking ANYTHING - is bad design and fucking ridiculous for a fighting game in 2011, especially one that seeks to appeal to a pretty wide audience.

Thank you to people who are actually giving me legit advice, though.

Thanks to C.Viper I got my first win.

i will repay her by attempting to learn her.

I had Chun-li and Wolverine with her....probably not the best combo but it got the job done.

I really need to practice being able to things on command but still wanted to try out the online.

A few things, after not find a match why the fuck does it go to a load screen. and also after every match that updating user data is sooo damn annoying. Spectator mode needs to get here soon...bouncing name tags is not cool, Capcom.

I will get competent at this game. I WILL!!! Hopefully, I finally get the whole quarter circle shit down.

I need a third member for my squad. I'm rocking, Wesker and Doom. Don't know who to put in. I was thinking of a heavyweight for that spot. Hulk maybe?

Why couldn't they just keep the MvC 2 controls?
Because having 2 half-assed sets of normals is worse than having 1 full set.

Any good basic combo tutorials for noobs?
The SRK Wiki and the official strategy guide seem to be good places to start for learning.

Anyone else having problems finding a match on xbox live? I've been trying and all I get is failed to connect.

+1

been trying for hours and cannot connect to a Ranked online match, only lobbies
WTF?!?
:(

Yeah, yeah I'm late:

Anyone making the transition from the 360 ass pad to the PS3? I'm still getting there. Aside from the half inputs that you can get away with in a lot of fighting games now, you could easily get into the habit of putting those bad inputs into muscle memory. Combine that with the 360 pad and I could "roll" into almost all of my inputs and even cheated myself to the point of switching between the stick and pad for certain situations. A nasty brew of bad habits.

It was nice that I could play well that way, but its sent my pad play back years now that I'm on a real controller again. I'm a little pissed at myself to be honest... Having to relearn shit that Guilty Gear and Bloody Roar (fuck da haters) should've burned into my soul for all time? ugh.

Its not stopping me from doing anything, just from feeling natural while doing it.

I'm going to use the team of Captain A, Wolverine, and Spidey. If that guy can whoop me with the "worst in the game" Ryu, then I can mix it up with some new blood and not just what everyone is using online at the moment (Sent/Zero/Dante/Deadpool/X-23/Wesker/Felicia/Phoenix/Super Skrull/Arthur)

Geez, Mission mode with Spider-man (mission 4) and DeadPool (mission 5) is kicking my ass I just can't pull off the moves in time.

Any tips?

So is Zero still as over powered as in TvC, or is he actually fun to play as/against without feeling cheap?
The only thing that made Zero annoying to fight in TvC was that advance guard didn't push much of his stuff back at all, which meant that his pressure game was hard to deal with. I don't think that's the case anymore.

So, I ended my ranked for the night at 5-5. Have a stick coming on Friday so hopefully that should help me out. :)

Game is so much fun though, even when you're losing.

lolololololololololol

p.s. I opened up deadpool mission 2 and it's not asking for a "forward down diagonal" motion at all, it's just a qcb + h. Which is actually the "slide" move, so I really don't get it; are you using the wrong attack button or something? Actually nm I see, he has a normal slide too. But yeah, dunno where you got a dp motion from since the mission objectives and command list both tell you exactly what input you need. Helps to read instructions before you get mad!

Is there any kind of air combo break in this game?

I've been playing the game for the last couple of hours and it's pretty awesome. Morrigan is definitely a mainstay for this game. Amateratsu is definitely harder to play with I don't have much of an idea what to do with her yet.

Aside from that... the game looks absolutely beautiful. I have a hard time spotting imperfections from close up and the connection is pretty smooth so far.

I've got 7.6K pp already so I'll get some playtime with Hsien-Ko soon enough. That is when shit gets serious.

There should be because it's pretty stupid at times. The only thing you can stop is the air tag thing but you have to guess the input your opponent used.

My guide hasn't shipped yet either and I'm dying to get it even more now. Might just cancel and hunt it down at Gamestop.

Hsien-Ko's pendulum assist while she has her armor hyper activated is so baller. I love using that and then throwing up a portal behind somebody as Dorm.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this game and I love loving it too yet I am not a member of the Weekend Confirmed crew. Even though I'm getting my ass kicked online so far I'm actually having fun. Spectator mode needs to be launched ASAP though...what's the fucking point of a lobby at this stage of the game?

lol i could not figure that out either.

Took me the longest time too but just hold down the character assist 1 or 2 button and you'll tag in whichever character is assigned to 1 or 2.

Only if people game for the air exchange, but for regular air combos no. To break an air exchange combo you have to match the directional input your opponent used.

I'll try Spider-Man's mission 4 in a bit, but what problem did you have with Deadpool's mission 5? I messed up on the part at the end with the double jump, but I just jumped a little quicker the second time and it was fine. If you're messing up earlier on a part with chains, just put the inputs in one after another; you don't have to wait for a move to finish before putting in the next.

Ok, for Spider-Man's mission 4, I assume you're messing up on the hyper cancel at the end there. You've just gotta do it right after the second hit on the shoryuken I think, rather than letting Spider-Man fall a bit.

Yeah, because there's absolutely no way I'm talking about the "Katana-Rama! to Chimichangas!!" mission and wrote mission 2 instead of mission 3. Nope, none at all.

Please continue to be an arrogant douchebag, though; it's very becoming of you.

Team NFB
Noel Fucking Brown
Sentinel
Dormammu
Doctor Doom

Noel and LI Joe have apparently been playing a legit copy of Marvel for about a week and a half.

hahahhahaa

12-3 ranked so far. I think I found a good team. I'm rocking Morrigan, Dormammu, and Sentinel. Dorm's black hole assist is just godly.

I have alot trouble when my opponent puts pressure on me, especially against Zero. I need to work on an effective way to deal with that. When my friend gets me in a combo with Zero Im pretty much done for, it's a bit frustrating. Having alot fun playing though.
