This is just service announcement. I may be late to the part but the direction you do an air exchange with changes the amount of meter you get. Now I see why mike ross was abusing exchanges left and right. You can get 2 full bars with one full team air exchange.

Didn't get to play it much last night but impressions so far.

Ryu sucks
Chris seems low tier for now
Zero has some nice range and can combo pretty easily

I still havent found a comfortable control setup. I got it:
L M P1
H S P2

What is everyone using?

So how am I supposed to go up in rank when all I get is "connection is lost". The only thing that works online are lobbys and player matches.

This is the intended default layout. Takes a while to get used to but it works.

Sidenote:
I can only play this game in 10 minute bursts. This recent pulled muscle/ pinched nerve is making sitting down to play a real chore. Will be happy when I can actually put more time in.

Except you can easily counter that exchange. So if you just counter down the whole time your opponent will either get 0 bars or 1/2 to 1 bar if they play it safe and only exchange side/up.

Need to see those videos of Wong proving it's far too early to make concrete assumption about who is OP, balance related stuff, etc.

It's really early guys, not even every region has it. When there is this much variation in character and gameplay styles available, the endgame won't be decided for a long ass time. Two days ago Sent was OP, now Wolverine is ridic. I'm convinced everyone in this game has enough bullshit to make whatever style you want to run work.

Saty made some great points too about the game in general.

I do agree with ShinAmano (I think?) saying that the game has shitty infrastructure :p Only things that need a buff in this game are the online and training mode (for people trying to learn the system).

It's in the OP dude

edit: wait I guess not? I swore it was. My mistake.

1/2 a bar is pretty decent too. Guess its a high risk high reward. I don't remember what state you are in when you get countered.

Unrelated to this, Capcom should really have a tutorial mode where players can go through the game mechanics. A lot of players never frequent forums and it would be nice if they could get caught up to speed.

Anyone know if the game is like TvC in that you do more damage the higher you go up? Or is exchange up just there to keep the Opp guessing?

Fuck I love Thor, but man he's hard to use!

PERSISTENCE HERE I COME!

fuck you only have to press up to double jump in the air?!?@?!@!

This is why I need to study this game before I go online, went 3 - 8 last night :(

WHERES MY STRATEGY GUIDE?@?!

Just finished my first Arcade run after messing about in training and mission modes. Made it to Galactus with Dante, Joe and Zero but ended with Ammy, Zero and Dante and got Zero's ending. Took me a while to beat Galactus on Medium. It was that fucking hand clap grab. I couldn't Super Jump it but I did manage to knock him out of it once I think but don't know how I did that.
Button mash if he grabs you with the hand clap, it'll get you out.

_dementia said:
Does X-Factoring out of block stun stright into his grab work?
Yeah, there was a video of Thor doing it, very hard though.

Yes and it leads into a 100% combo. Check out Tragic's combo video selection, it's one of his earlier videos (like day 1 video).

STILL WAITING FOR THAT J WONG LINK!

Any tips on the timing of doing? Someone kept raping me with those exchanges, and I kept trying to counter but it would never work. I understand what I'm supposed to do, it just never happens.

Man, I'm just picking this game up faster than any previous fighter. At least in this game, when I lose, I know I can do better.

My main team right now is: Ryu, Morrigan, Felicia.

Despite the fact that Ryu is my point, I'm finding Felicia is my best character right now, even though I havent played Felicia in any game in years. As for the other characters, X-23 is awesome, and even though he's slow as hell, I'm trying as much as possible to learn how to use Thor effectively.

BTW, concerning rage-quitter hell, I was just in a match where it lagged like crazy. I think we were both about dead even in terms of who had life left, but then there was a disconnect. I doubt the opponent rage-quit, at the time, I was on the receiving end of a string of combos, so it might have looked like I rage-quit to him, honestly. Does the game know the difference between an actual rage-quit and a horrible laggy connection quit? My rage-quit record is clean, so I'd rather not have it soiled by something like lag.

Have you just tried mashing S while holding the stick in your desired direction? Not sure if it works.

for some reason its not even in the ustream archives. They have not uploaded to youtube yet. Probably will be later today.

Apparently churning butter works too. Rotating the stick 360 while mashing S. You get an equal chance of getting out.

I need to hit training mode and work on my basics hard, dropping lots of easy combos. Also need to figure out how to effectively pressure with all my characters (leilei, ironman, shehulk)... that's something i lack completely.

Your pressure isn't too bad with She-Hulk, but your Iron Man does consist of spamming Unibeam all day. :P

Isn't this XF guard cancel from Thor?

OTG characters are fighters who can attack an opponent who lies on the ground, thus' On-The-Ground, right?
OTG is referring to the act of hitting the opponent while on the ground. I'm pretty sure every character in the game can do it.

Not haggar. If he had a single otg move he would be extra beastly. Paring him with an otg assist will help this issue

He does have DAT PIPE

Wow, interesting. Although I don't see why Haggar with an OTG move would be any more beastly than say Sent or Hulk.

Spider-Man doesn't have one either. Pairing him with an OTG is almost a must IMO, can't get as good Ultimate Web Throw resets without it.

Right now, I am sticking to this trio:
Deadpool, Trish, X-23

Dormammu and Doctor Doom are both awesome, but I just cant wrap my head around how to use them in melee situations.

Welcome to the shit-tactular experience that is MvC3 online.

Pro Tip...play in arcade mode with fight request on...seems to work better.

It really does. After 6-7 "could not find opponent"s, I went to single player, turned fight request and got an opponent the second the match started.

EDIT - goddamn it, two "last post of a page" in a row.

Dante, Welker

Trish or Storm or Zero

I wanna use Dorm but I just can't handle myself in close ranged situations.
Trish is good for setting up trap but most her specials have slow startup and recovery.

Sent and hulk both have an otg move. Just saying it would be a nice addition. Haggar and dat pipe were wrecking last night. Hopefully level up stream gets posted so we can see Floe wielding the pipe.

Bah, rather than team up two or three characters I like, it really is more effective to pick a single character, and then search for who works well with him/her. You can often find more than just two assists to help out your point man's strategy, so you've got a lot of options. I'll definitely be making use of those reserve team slots...
