NOOOOOOOOO MY AVATAAAAAR. </3 Now I need to find a new MvC3 one D:

What did I miss today in terms of awesome MvC3 news? Did those epic J. Wong videos ever make it online?

My bad, forgot the blocking. I knew that. I just cant seem to get the timing down or something.

How about in a special? Say if Ryu is doing the hadouken special, I only need to press the hold+2attacks once right?
you have to tap. I think. I always do. The issue is if you get out of blockstun and you are blocking and hit a button a move will come out. As long as you are in a block string/ block stun and blocking you can hit buttons to advance guard.

Shit, I didn't know that was you! Btw, your x-factor Sentinel was quite annoying as well ;p
He's my desperation pick cause of the high health and damage, but I'm thinking he might make a great Iron Man replacement.

Old?

If you've been playing Marvel vs. Capcom 3 online--or trying to--you've likely had an experience similar to ours. Lost connections and an irritating cycle of menus have kept us offline in the days following the game's release. Fortunately, Capcom's aware of the issues on PS3 and Xbox 360 and assures us that a fix is on the way.

"Due to the high volume of people playing MVC3 at launch, some are experiencing connection issues with online matches. We are looking into these issues in order to fix the problem and ensure a smooth online experience." Let's hope. In the meantime, who wants to drop by my place after work for a few matches of local play?

Heh, the fact that Capcom recognizes the menu structure problems suggests the first patch will modify that too. One would hope!

Capcom didn't say anything about the menu structure, only problems actually connecting.

I wouldn't hold my breath for the menu structure to get changed. It's probably that way because like...loading a certain screen makes some part of the netcode load in the background that has to be reloaded if you're designated as the host of a match and the connection fucks up. Or something. It's not to say that it isn't shitty programing, but there's probably a reason why it boots you to 2 different menus depending on how the connection messed up. But hopefully I'm wrong and it can be patched easily.

After playing more online (and losing some) I've got a few opinions.

- I HATE players that have the Japanese dialouge for the Capcom characters when their player flag thing shows them as being in the UK. I don't know why but it annoys me, especially Dante's 'Letsu rocku. Bay-bay.' I think it's because my team is speaking english and another team isn't it's just jarring. If they all spoke Japanese then I guess I'd be fine with it.

-Sooooo many people have teams in all black/their darkest colours. I just find that annoying. Dunno why.

- I really dislike 'Breath of Fire Ryu' Dante. The colours on him just look bad.

- Lag is the devil. Sometimes the lag is so bad it's unplayable. And this is with the search set to same region.

Well I just realized by my friend telling me that those super good players were not in fact clones or proteges of Justin Wong, they were in fact just players using SIMPLE CONTROLS.

I'm furious now, of all those times I lost. As of this moment and for the time being I quit playing online. Unless there's some way to play disabling it.

I more meant where they noted that the reloading cycle is annoying. I.e. the way the game randomly bombs back to different screens, and doesn't let you re-search immediately like SSFIV. Seems like it might not be monumental to make a tweak there.

Capcom didn't say anything about that specifically. IGN did.

I think I'm going to hold off playing online till we see a fix. I get 1 out 20 tries with ranked matches. Player matches piss me off. I can get one maybe quick, pending the time of day, get a win. The quit. Back to the 5 minute search. Blah I say, blah.

Were they also using Sentinel? A win is a win I guess, and this game doesn't discriminate between normal control mode and simple for online.

No, bunch of other people but not Sentinel, oh one guy used him. How do you guys even want to play if everyones using simple controls? It's unfair.

Holy fuck this game is laggy online, lag hits me harder in Marvel than any fighting game i've played.

You probably just ran into some crappy connections. The only two matches i've played online (random ranked from fight requests) seemed like the person was right next to me.

Oh, well fuck you IGN, gimmie spectator mode nao, fix the lag, free DLC characters for all, etc etc good show

The fact that you're not taken into a 1v1 lobby so you can see your opponents connection speed, and that you can't choose to host lobbies is ludicrous. Anybody blaming the shabby online on technical limitations are giving the MvC3 guys way too much credit. The fact is they've been upstaged by Backbone for fucks sake.

I just wish they acknowledged it was because they rushed it out rather than feeding us bullshit excuses over them expecting only 2 players to purchase the game at launch.

online for every fighting game is trash, you just notice it more in marvel because it's a faster game.

you can fudge it more in SSF4 as long as you're not plinking one frame links cause it's a slower game.

I haven't encountered any lag at all so far. Not sure why you guys getting so bad.
I live in Hawaii, and with the crappy "region" system in this game, I'm probably playing people from the east coast and shit. You could also be lucky enough to always be host? I know I'll barely ever be host which is why I barely play online.

I don;t get it, what does simple mode even do?

They're not talking about lag, folks. They're talking about people only being able to connect every 1 or 2 out of 10 tries.
people above were talking about lag.

I completely agree with you. I assume "simple" is available in ranked matches as well? ...so far (I think :\), I've only encountered once 'obvious' simple user. He was using a bunch of different attacks in rapid succession without any rhyme or reason to them. I beat him, but still, even with it's limitations... it's still quite unfair.

Note: And No, I have ZERO respect for players that use 'simple' online. Yeah, I said it.

I've even got my region set to any (im in Texas), and I havent experienced any lag. Of course, I never experienced any lag in SFIV or SSFIV either...especially not game crippling lag similar to a lot of my TvC matches.

Simple controls auto combo and auto move everything. You can air juggle and call in your supports like nothing.

That's why everyone mostly has a score of 100-4

They should have had it so it's Normal only online. :/

Umm no people using simple mode are most likely the ones getting owned bad. *shakes head* Simple mode sucks ass

man, i got one of the marvel versus pads today and, i gotta say, as a dedicated stick user, this thing is still pretty dope-as-fuck. it takes a proverbial shit all over the madcatz fight pads, that's for sure. the microswitch buttons and stick feel so good, really reminiscent of the neo-geo cd pad.

Is this new?

There is data referring to both Frank West and Doctor Octopus in the MVC3 disc data

Anyways, had some good matches with a gaffer, after a few wins he figured me out and it was easy for him after that, had soem thoughts do.

Dunno if its lag, but Im not blocking shit and my opponents BLOCK EVERYTHING

Game rewards the keepaway game, very frustrating

The gaffer in question had an excellent taskmaster, he was very good at pulling off a combo that would take off 50 percent of any character and eventually that decided every single match eventhough he was nowhere near as good as the other characters... Obviously theres a way to beat that, but it was extremely frustrating to play against because you whiff one combo and you eat 50 percent of your lifebar.

I must suck then I only beat one fucker using simple controls. I tried it out once to troll the online and I won (unsurprisingly) and I quit afterwards cause it felt bad.

I'm Legit.

I'm 2 Legit to quit.

But...I quit for now.

Is there any way to view the connection quality outside of lobby searching?

Like can you view the connection during a fight?

Psionic blaster! Psionic blaster! Psionic blaster!

if you truly get no lag that's good for you but it's been my experience that most people who play a lot locally, in person can't go back to online. it may just be a case of context. Same way with HDTVs vs CRTs. Feels so inconsistent on most HDTVs to me, on a CRT I can time combos and stuff so much more consistently.
