Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds |OT| - Ya down with OTG? Yeah, you know me!

Okay, so I know this is a wicked newbie question -- apologies if it's "dumb" -- but I was working on going through Ryu's missions, and I'm stuck on mission 5 which is something like:

- Standing L
- Standing M
- Crouching H
- Roundhouse
- S
- Air L
- Air M
- Air H
- Air S

For some reason I can never seem to get through all four of the air inputs before dropping back down to the ground. Is there just some sort of trick to it like delaying my jump or doing a super jump or what?

Usually when they want you to do 4 air attacks you need to start hitting them as soon as you leave the ground, if you wait at all you'll end end up whiffing the last attack.

Man the inputs of this game is way different.
33 is not registered as 22?
6236 is not registered as 623?
WTF
I wonder if this is due to compensate for lag online. I also hate that they made Spidey's web swing a reverse dragon punch motion instead of its usual hurricane kick motion.

I'm trying. I understand the game system and how it works but there's just a few things that are throwing me off.

Like at the start of the round, I'm not sure what to do. Being able to move around before the round starts changes everything. When I'm right next to the other player as the round starts he always seems to get the first hit.

the technical answer is to read frame data (or test it yourself) and if their crouching A is faster than yours, then don't try to fight them if you're right next to each other

I just got the game and I'm having fun with it thus far despite not being able to maintain combos. Hopefully after some more time playing it, I'll be able to get a good grip with regard to how to play this game.

Best bit of dialogue I've heard thus far in the game is Iron Man to Spencer: "Just the arm? Couldn't afford the whole suit?"

I love Spencer's victory line "How could I lose? I have a Bionic arm!"

Breaking news, She Hulk bros:

I found out on Shoryuken forums that you can kara her command throw with c.M (2M); tested it and it also works with c.L (2L).

Even better though, I discovered you can kara into her level 3 Hyper Combo. Go out there and get'em, She Hulk GAFfers!

Good luck trying to do this online though, laughinghomer.gif
Awesome, I've been messing around with Shulkie today and I really like the way she plays.

After the S launch press immediately up and start the LMHS combo.

Ok, total newbie question - I don't understand how to switch a character straight into an air juggle. I can launch and juggle, and I can switch a character straight into a combo, occasionally with a super, but in the air I have no fucking clue what I'm doing.

You need to use Special + a direction (I think it's forward, down, or up) in the air and that'll tag your current character out.

At least that's what I think you're asking about.

So an input sequence could be like, S (launch)->L->M-> S + forward (tag) to see it work.

I freaking hate getting kicked back to the online's main main every time I "fail to join game." Hint: a lot of times.

This, coupled with constant *updating player info* and *saving* really drags the process of navigating this game!

I don't have marvel yet, so I installed to wood side panels on my TE instead.
I wish I could play :([/QUOTE]

That's awesome... how'd you go about doing this?

I think this was mentioned before but doing Fight Request in Arcade/Training usually results in finding a match in like 3 seconds and you won't get errors or anything.

Sometimes I dash and press about three buttons then "HERE COMES A NEW CHALLENGER", lol.

I am starting to win more player matches but to be honest I'm not sure that it's because I'm getting better or that no one knows what to do against Haggar's pipe

I am ALL PIPE ALL THE TIME

This is the way to get consistent ranked matches but has the added downside of having to pick your characters again (and the opponent's if you're in training mode).

This game is full of chains not links. You can pull the same stuff of with any neglibile about of delay. You just dial the combos in and thats it. A lot more lenient than sf4 in that respect.

that's right but jump cancels and triangle jump/instant overhead setups as well as blocking the insanely fast high/low mixups this game can have are not lenient.

Um, when I got into Arcade request fights, the win/loss never updated. Only updated my win/loss when i searched ranked matches manually. 360 atm.

Noob questions

How do you jump cancel? One of the missions (Morrigan I think) says something about jump canceling. I can tell where it is supposed to be done, but I have no clue as how to and I end up jumping way too high.

Another question. How do you super, and then call in another character to super? Is it the super motion with the desired assist button? While we are at it. How do you do team assist air combos? I did that on accident before.

the_log_ride said:
and what's that combo exactly?

cr.L cr.M cr.H S M f.H (down forward air dash) M land, cr.m cr.H S M f.H (air dash forward) M M S is what I do.

One of the most satisfying combos in the game in my opinion.

Im trying to do the 3 loop one. Killing me.

Can you OTG with s. B or C after the knockdown? I'm not in training anymore lol

As far as I know just jump in the middle of your move, just make sure you aren't hold down before you jump or you'll super jump (aka the too high part).

It's just the regular super input for the next character on your team order as if you were doing it normal, so say QCF -> 2 ATK.

Finish your air combo with the launcher button while holding either forward or up.

I really wish we could skip the you win/you lose screens. They go on for far too long, I know who won/lost, I don't need to be told again. I just want to get into the next match as quick as I can.

Yeah, I usually enable fight request in training mode. Seriously, best training mode ever conceived.

the fuck?

every time I see this I want to jump off of something

anyone knows how to connect the killer bee after the "M, H" air combo on mission 9(mission mode)? i've tried a few hours doing it but i still had a hard time connecting it.

So what's the best way to tri dash or whatever it's called. The triangle air dash thingy.. like mag/iron man does? Is there some nice quick input to do it + the jump in attack? I try with iron man, lots of time the bombs come out... or I just do it incredibly slow (especially online)

-.- all i'm getting matched with atm is this one guy who spams projectiles from across the screen with doom and when I get close super jumps to the other side. Wouldn't be so bad but it's a bit laggy so I can't seem to get Dante's teleport off all the time.

I just think thats impossible for the game to even qualify for that discussion when it sports an incomplete movelist right off the bat.

Not only that, but several essential functions aren't readily available or easy to find for the player.

Nothing in it is innovative. I'd think that a fighter such as this, one with such a large stage and a camera that loves to react, a zoom in/zoom out feature would at least be a thought. But no, nothing. Incomplete, average, just enough.

The training mode in this game is really good. They should've had that guy do the online UI instead.

You can set record to a button and fight request works there. These things automagically make it the best training mode ever.

Found a way past the pipe. SPENCER. His grab pulls him out of it if timed right. Yeah, yeah...I know this doesn't count but Spencer is on my team so he's my FU to fellow Haggar players (Haggar is on my team too with Sentinel).

If I come up with some sort of cancel, dash, or crossup tactic that's more universal I'll let you know but so far it's grabby slammy from Spencer or die for me vs Haggar.

Played for like 9 hours straight - so good.

What's the word on how to beat projectile spammers?

Learn to count invincibility frames. Seriously. Find your specials on your team and test them against moves to see when they can gut through a projectile if at all.

Some folks are great for assists to cancel this nonsense. Haggar's lariat is beastly at this, for example.

Others have dashes or moves that go under some projectiles. Deadpool's slide is good plus guys like Deadpool and several others have teleports for crossups to screw over spammers. Also some spam projectiles are slow enough to use spencer, hsien ko, spidey, or taskmaster swings to go over.

Finally there's the good old option of projectile wave dash projectile wave dash to cut distance and close in on opponents. I had to do this with viewtiful joe to put him within Pipe distance of Haggar as an assist once. So needed the lariat assist that round. Haven't tested the Haggar ground roll to see if it goes through projectiles or not. I'll get on that. Also, Sentinel can airdash to cancel Morrigan's fireball according to the Pipe Hype 2 clip I posted.

That's all I got. Good luck because Arthur,Joe, MODOK is a team I faced once. Damn that guy. Damn him.
