Well they also have a forum where a lot of stuff is discussed.

Sure. You have to sort through pages and pages of stuff to find useful stuff. Also, people used fucked up notation from time to time, and it becomes fustrating trying to decrypt some of that shit.

I will be sad if not offered. People have been screaming for it since the character reveal. It should have been the default and new Spencer the alt.
Then no one would buy the alt. Capcom gotta get money!

Is the guide worth it? Anyone here have it?

It's a pretty insane guide. Tons of pages on each character. Detailed descriptions, advantages, disadvantages, and uses for each move. Combo lists. Tables with frame/priority numbers for all of the moves.

Pretty damned good.

I paid $23 and it's well worth it for me. As a newbie to fighting games, this is giving me so much useful information, and insight as to how I should use the characters I want to play with.

It's less than $12 with prime on Amazon.
From all accounts, it's worth that. Any more and I wouldn't have bitten on it.

I was just guessing. I have never been a fan of these guides. I usually find pretty much what I need on the net.

This guide is like no other. It feels a lot like a DoubleJump guide, except with less typos.

Here's my guesses at the Marvel side for DLC alternates...

Captain America - already revealed as Steve Rogers, Super Soldier
Deadpool - unmasked OR wearing just a mask and boxers OR (do it!) wearing Marvel Girl's costume
Doctor Doom - that's a toughie... maybe his wooden "magic" armor from a few years back?
Dormammu - his "classic" hideous pinkish jumpsuit
Hulk - king's armor from "Planet Hulk" OR his half-alien son Skaar
Iron Man - already revealed as Iron Patriot, though War Machine would be nice
Magneto - helmetless OR that white "Age of X" costume he's got would look awesome.
M.O.D.O.K. - another difficult one... maybe just a giant floating head (no chair)?
Phoenix - "blue" Rachel Summers OR Morrison's "Here Comes Tomorrow" Jean
Sentinel - "classic" Sentinel (less robotic) OR Nimrod -type
She-Hulk - sexy female lawyer OR ripped dress "Savage" look
Shuma Gorath - good luck with that one.
Spider-Man - his new "Future Foundation" costume OR (do it!) the Amazing Spider-Ham!
Storm - mohawk biker look (do it!)
Super-Skrull - see Shuma.
Taskmaster - the UDON costume is really his only other one, isn't it?
Thor - already revealed as Classic Thor, shoulda been Beta Ray Bill
Wolverine - plainclothes Logan OR Weapon X OR Daken
X-23 - X-Force costume OR her Fang costume OR one of her many gothic ensembles

I'm the same way -- but after finding out buktooth worked on it and seeing what he's doing with the Chun-Li loop? I'm willing to pay $12 to have his input readily available without a need for the internet or a printer. :)

I don't plan to buy any costumes but I would probably pay good money for that costume.

Also good to know that they apparently put a lot of effort into the guide. Actually make some want to check it out myself.

Yes! I would so prefer that to 90s/MvC2 storm.

Doubt that it's worth it. I bet the Shoryuken Wiki will outclass it pretty quickly.

Damn I am late as shit.

Fun answer: *Paging DY_nasty to the thread, DY_nasty, you're needed in the thread*
Well then... Cap? Welcome to the team! Mind the catgirl, she scratches.

Hmm, now to see if I can figure out Tron Bonne, or if the Heavy on the team needs replacing, too. Both Thor and Haggar could fill that role. Or Hulk, of course. They'd need an assist as good as Gustav Fire, though.

Shinkiro Style.

Same here. Best Rad Spencer ever.

We are just playing this with my friends for the first time and it's fun.

But the marvel side is so lame compared to the capcom characters :b

What?

Not even. What do you mean by lame?

Whats with Spidey's ultimate web throw anyway? Is there something new you have to do to connect the attack? I used it on someone the other day, they were right in the middle of the web and not blocking...but the hyper didnt connect.

I think it looks weird, but it could be a secondary alt.

Were they in the air?

It's a throw, so it's unblockable but they have to be in the air.

I just previewed the chunks of guide hosted on capcom unity. I can't wait for mine to arrive the beginning of this week. It is really going to help me gain a lot of insight into my characters.

Well, my copy from the Capcom store arrived in my city at 2AM today. I just now remembered Monday is a holiday. If it's not delivered today, there's gonna be hell to pay.

I have a feeling that digitalriver did not ship some of these copies of the game. They just scanned them locally and held off on shipping orders just to stop people from calling. All my updates and some other peoples updates are still local fulfiller updates not usps updates.

Someone on unity had the game shipped on the 11th and still have not received it or an update.

Capcom store( or their fulfiller) is truly some shit. Worst online ordering experience ever.

I have shipped stuff further that weighed more for the cheapest shipping and it has arrived in less time.

How are you going to ship a game 300 miles from me an claim it left on Monday and it not arrive by now. I am betting they did not ship it or they shipped it later in the week.

Chun is godlike. XD! Jumped online PS3 version. Was smoother than I expected and I won all 3 of my matches. Feels good to look awesome. Will buy the 360 version in a few days, just for TE Stick usage. I should dual mod but w/e.

Gave up on my Amazon order and got the guide from Gamestop last night. Christ, people are not exaggerating; there's god damned authority in this thing.

The valuable thing to me is that it's not just a great frame data guide; as someone said that information is something that could change as the game is updated or patched, and a wiki would be more valuable in the long run.

What's really important IMHO is the extremely detailed breakdown of the logic behind various assists, specials, hypers, and branching move utilities like Dante's arsenal. The fact that it's done like a classic DoubleJump / Versus Books guide, with pictoral breakdowns of move stages and key visual frames, creates a much better mnemonic learning device than just a forum thread of assorted comments.

(And yes, the Dante section in particular is about the only way I'm every going to figure the bastard out, god damn, lol lol lol.)

That, and the "battle plan" section for each character is a pretty damn comprehensive write up of how everyone plays and what they "should" be doing in a fight at this stage in the game's evolution. That may change as new strategies are discovered, but the guide seems like a valuable historical tome - all future evolutions of the characters' strategy will build on this foundation, as far as I can tell.

Legs has always been awesome. This game just took it to a whole 'nother level.

Anyone else having trouble with the game not reading your shoryuken inputs every time? Why is this? I could do em flawlessly in SSFIV.

I had the copy I'd ordered through Capcom say it was in Flushing, IN (or whever it is everyone's is at) yesterday at midnight and it showed up today (I'm in Florida). So that may give you hope.

Fuck me, I think I'm going to run out and pick this up later today now. :lol

And enzo, you aren't the only one, although keep in mind I'm not a fighting gamer like that and I've only had like an hour or so worth of sit down time with the game in the past.

Solderless dual mod costs about $60-70 to do it yourself.
So it depends on whether you'd rather have a TE on both platforms or an extra copy of the game. (Which could be good or bad depending on your need for DLC and how many friends you have playing the game on either system.) ^_^

Probably because you have to do an actual srk input and not the SFIV 323 shortcut.

See I thought this too but it doesn't seem to work everytime still, I think being on pad doesn't help one bit.

Ewwww, then I am not even giving it a shot for curiosity's sake.
The whole point of Simple is to have a newbie mode for people who don't necessarily even plan on playing the game long enough to learn all those moves. I think it's a great idea for using it as a party game.

hit up training mode. Look at your inputs and make sure you are actually inputting it correctly.
