Can someone explain something to me about using an arcade stick. I bought a SF Tournament Edition stick for the 360 a while ago and im trying to use it with this game. But the buttons are all fucked up or something. Like no matter what i try the buttons in the configuration menu are not matching up to what im pressing. Im basically pressing the LB button to switch to a partner and it does nothing. I cant really explain. Its not that the buttons are broke they are just re-directing all over the place. The only buttons that seem consistent are the A and B buttons. Maybe the X and Y also...
What do you have set in the configuration?

Yeah it has quite a lot of invincibility. It's not super fast but when it's out, she goes through everything.

I think it's atleast projectile invincible the entire way through.

I've been playing both versions of mvc3 for a bit now and have to say the ps3 version lags quite a bit behind the 360 version.

Although the 360 version drops a few frames here and there, most notably during intros, it maintains a smooth frame rate during game play. In the ps3 version, I've noticed frame drops during intros, assists, team combos and effects heavy special moves. Just doing phoenix's healing field will cause the ps3 version to drop frames.

Well, at least the ps3 version seems to be free of screen tearing while the 360 version mostly tears during intros, team combos. If you have a choice, go with the 360 version.

Sony really should enable the ps3's 8th core!
That's a shame. Especially since Evo is PS3. I hope Capcom patches it.

30-3 in ranked so far, but you can tell people are starting to get better at the game. A couple weeks from now, god help any new person that tries to play online.

In the options i have it set to A. Im looking at the correspondng buttons and their actions and then im looking at what is labeled on the actual arcade stick and they arent matching. I cant even seem to access my 2nd partner now cause every time i press the button it pulls off some super in training mode.

I think I'm done with ranked matches in this game, they're far too demoralizing for me. I'm sitting at 8-26 and I feel like the lord of scrubs. I'm getting matched up against fishheads with 100-20ish records almost consistently, and matches are over before I know it. The game is fun but for a fighting newcomer like me its almost hell. Maybe I'll try SSFIV.

First off, you should set it to B for a Mad Catz stick. And to solve your problem, sounds like you've got Simple mode on. lol

Whatever they're doing for matchmaking seems incredibly fucked up. I'm 12-0 right now and as I was playing earlier I was getting people that were 0-6 and stuff. SSFIV is probably going to be way worse at this point, though.

I would say to try out some player lobbies but if you get anything more than 3 people you'll likely just sit and watch lifebars all day, which sucks because lobbies are normally the most fun you can have with a game like this.

MadCatz stick = Type B.

edit: also like guy above said, you're probably using simple mode.

Change your config to option B. Enjoy.

Okay Gaf..

Any UK Gaffers had any experience ordering from Amazon US? It's £5 for international shipping on the Sig. Series guide so I'd be paying about £12, which is way cheaper than I can get it here - regardless of whether I can find the thing, which, currently, I can't.

It's below £18 so I don't think I'd get screwed over on import tax (unless the rules have changed recently).

Is it worth it?

EDIT: 18-32 business days for £5 shipping. £8 for 8-16 days, totalling at about £15...

Seriously, where the fuck is the guide in the UK?

I call assist, my assist dies.

other ppl call assist, I die!!

I dont understand!!!!!

Aw man, this is bullshit, looks like 2 of my buttons actually are broken. Im getting no response from my LB and RT buttons. I've barely even used the damn stick and i bought it new.

Madcatz SE? If so, yeah, I had the same problem when I got mine. Sucks, but you can just get some new buttons on Lizard Lick for like $15 and they're super easy to put in.

Yeah, that happened to me. Replaced 'em with Sanwas and never looked back :D

Open it up and swap the buttons around to make sure they're actually broken before you do anything else. If it really is the buttons, then you can either just roll with it since you only need 6 buttons anyway or buy Sanwa parts and be happier for it. It might not be the buttons though so I'd definitely recommend making sure those buttons are busted first.

I had the same problem with my TE. Ended up sending back to the manufacturer for another one.

I haven't touched Marvel in like three days, starting to get WITHDRAWWWWWALLLLLLLL. It'll be all over by tomorrow though, yes!

Aw man, same thing happened to me back in the original SFIV days. Mad Catz fixed the stick for me for free though. I dont think it was the buttons though. Something with the actual connections inside?

Either way, if you dont want to spend any extra cash atm, just contact mad catz support, and they should fix you stick no problem.

Which stick do you have? You have no response from LB or RT? I can't tell which stick you have because LB should only be used if you have the MVC2 stick, and RT is used heavily on all the others (but not the MVC2 stick).

Also if you're trying to swap characters you have to hold the assist buttons down.

haggars pipe is only getting thicker and stronger my friend you better hurry up before his pipe is too much for everyone on xbox live. :P just had 8 wins in a row on xbox live and against a bunch of good players too. love my zero/haggar/taskmaster team. i can still improve a whole bunch with zero and haggar too. hey mthanded you on xbox live or ps3? i'd like to play you sometime too.

Wow wtf...just went up against a 6 game streaked, all gunmetal grey sent/doom/iron team.

Bullet hell spam to the max...but I almost came out on top.

Ugh I so don't know who else to put in my team...

I know I must have Dormammu. I love the character concept, and he's fun to play as a weird keep-away character. So far one of my favorite things to do is get 3 bars, then do teleport over my opponent's head, drop down with either S or H, then do W -> M -> S -> air Mx2 -> H -> S -> land, wait until my opponent's back is stable on the floor, lvl 3. SOOO much damage :)

I also like Trish. I feel like she's well-rounded - has nice traps and keepaway and can also hold her own in close range and do tons of damage. She's sorely missing an OTG though and for some reason the Dormammu assist OTG never connects when I do a ground slam, so...

I have NO clue who to pick as a third, though. To nicely complement Trish I need a good OTG assist, and the only ones I know that are very reliable are X-23 (I don't like her) and Wesker, which feels like he doesn't fit in with my team....

Anybody got any suggestions? I was thinking I need a rushdown character now since I have one specialized into zoning/keep away and one who is more of a jack of all trades, but I have no idea who to pick.

This game is pure fan service. I was playing online yesterday and after having my ass kicked a lot, i decided to try the training and mission modes to learn some combos. What a pleasant surprise was to find out that the character selection screen had the song "i wanna take you for a ride" playing on the background. Looks like Capcom really knew how popular it was on MvC2.

Another nice surprise was to see that Zero's theme song is his entrance song from Megaman X2, my favorite Megaman game from the snes era.

Btw, i would really like to know how or when specific versions of a song theme actually play. When i was on training mode, the version of "I wanna take for a ride" that was playing was some kind of a remix version, but after checking out the sound test i saw that the original version of the song is in the game.

Everyone knows that seimitsu is better anyway, this is your opportunity.

Actually, for buttons, I prefer sanwa for chain combo-heavy games like marvel, and seimitsu for street fighter. Always seimitsu sticks, though.

try zero and you might want to give taskmaster a shot too.

Went out and entered a tourney after not being in one forever. Lost both my matches, but I'm not too salty about it. Finally decided on my team: X-23, Deadpool, and Phoenix. Low health and probably no synergy, but I like them so fuck it.

hulk needs to be in every team rotation! why you should choose hulk:

- insanely strong. he usually isn't affected by a first hit so his power punch will go right through it
- gamme wave is not mapped to a charge motion. this means when someone is coming in at you, you can be backing up/blocking, hit them with a hard punch while still holding back, and if it connects you can add on the gamma wave when they are bouncing off the ground or literally on the ground. 1 hit + gamma wave add on deals massive damage for such an easy move
- the sonic clap move (H in the air) not only keeps people at bay, but you can do it multiple times in the air before you hit the ground to keep people down
- nice variety in special moves: you have the anti-air hulk rock, and then the gamma wave on a bigger scale which deals massive damage and gets across the screen fast. its not so quick to connect as a dante gun special but its still good, even full screen
- hulk with x-factor on is unstoppable. he usually deals out big damage anyways, but he absolutely wrecks people with x-factor on.

so, for those reasons and more you should use hulk!

I've dropped my Devil May Lighting Legs team (Dante/Storm/Chun-Li) in favor of Magnets May Rocket Punch (Magneto/Dante/Sentinel) !

I'm at 200 something, I only maxed out Dante, Skrull, and Hulk's though. The one's with assists have really dumb timing.

lol i made the exact same mistake on that gif posted a while back with hulk owning an entire team. did the tag super and got all of my 3 guys in and then the guy using hulk used a special and nearly took out my entire team. i was dominating too before that and then the time ended and i lost.

The ones with assists are the worst, especially if you're playing on 6-button pad imo. Sometimes I have to contort my hand in the stupidest way to do them.

I don't think X-Factor combos are usually as hard as their rating indicates though.

I need some help with Wesker combo's and I don't have the time to go in the lab and create some good ones while i'm currently improving my combo consistency with Morrigan and Felicia so if someone has the guide it would really help me out if they could let me know of any combo's I should be using as the guide is unavailable to the UK/EU.
