Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds |OT| - Ya down with OTG? Yeah, you know me!

There's this guy whose ranked in the top 10 called Never Going Pro (or something like that) who has gotten there by spamming NEUTRALIZE + that Doom missile assist. I was watching a stream of it earlier.

I understand that there are ways around it seems like you have a tiny amount of room for mistakes due to the damage Sentinel can deal out and take.

I also noticed that he keeps getting matched up with people who have only played like 20 games which is pretty rough considering he has played around 500 and lost less than 100 :/

I think i may have found me a team Wolverine/Storm/Phoenix the Xmen. Theres a chance i replace Wolverine, but Storm and Phoenix stays. I almost rather have a regular Phoenix with regular health and no Dark Phoenix. Phoenix is good before she goes dark.

Phoenix is the new Strider + a god mode. Seriously. :lol

Tron Bonne is an advanced character? I thought she was pretty straightforward. Use the aerial Servbots to set up obstacles, use aerial drill to harass the opponent since it's pretty much safe on block, and use the lockdown projectile to get a free Lunch Rush Hyper.

Of course, for me that plan fails with "Aerial Drill". Jump -> Reverse DP is not something I can pull off reliably enough, yet. If I could, I'd play a lot more Zero, too.
I was all hung up on my inability to reliably do Aerial Drills until I saw Clakey D on that Wednesday Night Fights stream. He did pretty well and I don't think I saw him use that move once! Just lots of air dashing and jumping C. Crosses up easily, hitbox seems to be huge, may land an air throw instead. Can easily follow up with s.B, s.C, Drill, etc. I'm sure the air drills come in handy but man I dunno if I'm ever gonna get that shit down.

In case you haven't seen the matches: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOVCpbupr_4#t=35m0s

Actually just rewatching it he gets eliminated while doing an air drill on Sent.

As much as i lover 3rd Strike it's not gonna be a big deal at all,it's coming out at the wrong time and it's not newbie friendly at all.

Another capcom fighter is the furthest thing from my mind. Not until they have at least 2 awesome online games under their belt to erase their history. With how popular online games are, and how much money they make (CoD, TF, etc.) you'd think capcom would make sure this stuff worked. They might as well stop putting search for ranked, and such in network menu. Just have create room and invite until they get things working right.

Personally, I don't think I'll bother to download Jill, even with my free DLC code since I'm on PSN platform. Not until I get confirmation that newer content fixes the BS Sony bundle extortion racket problem. However, I'd :lol if TrollCom decided to give the bird mask cloaked Jill as the alternate costume. :)

I think anyone with a tad of street fighter experience could pick up Sent and within 5 minutes be pulling off the corner launcher > air combo > rocket punch > HSF > electric ball combo.

I hope they do it

I guess they pretty much have to. Jill moving like zombied jill in a stars uniform will look out of place. Chris is just Chris with roids in RE5. Haha DLC. Maybe they will make a second Jill like the bone wolverine dupe in MVC2.

Can't imagine lots of sales seriously, besides people who really want to play it already do on pc so I doubt its going to do much...

Characters that bring additional models onto the screen cause problems. And if they do fix Frank, then he will fill that role.

I'm assuming to get the most reps you have to be cornered . He kept backing all the way up. A lot less useful if that's the case. But this is not that surprising , on wnf stream there were a lot of magneto loops.

main use is to push someone to corner I'd think or set up a quick reset..

Wat what? Where the footage.

I really want some fresh footage of mvc2 gods after a week with the game. Yipes, Sanford and the crew were still learning on them fadc videos

Don't think vids are up yet, but they were definitely recording+commentating. Should be up soon, I'll post them here.

That's how I feel...but man the loses are piling up. I need a tank because my other two characters die quickly. People have seem to figure out my Hulk and I suck with Tron.

Don't wanna be that guy but it's soooo tempting.

Don't do it. Those will be just empty wins. I mean, you know why you'd pick him, right? Won't those make you feel cheap, rather than picking a character you enjoy?

Yeah it's pretty sad a small company like Aksys can deliver a great online experience with probably not a quarter of the budget Capcom had for Marvel 3. Hopefully they get that patch out asap.

When can you OTG? Is it possible after any knockdown? I have no idea what the timing is for X23 otg(qcf m).

From what I played the timing is a bit tricky, after you press s in an air combo do the qcf m as soon as you land.

Just ran into to a guy that was 147-52 and I'm 30-3. I destroyed him pretty good. How does he have 147 wins?

You're 10:1 and he's 3:1. By those ratios you are probably a much better player.

What papercuts said. When you do her dive kick you should immediately start the ankle slice motion when you hit the ground.

But aside from that I think it can be a bit tricky. Say you have X-23 as an assist with ankle slice and someone say like Wesker on point. Then say you do an air combo with Wesker and it's something like L,M,H,S (launch)->S (knock down) with that second S being right away, you won't be able to OTG. I'm sure someone else can nail down the specifics of when you can OTG. As far as I know, you shouldn't do your knock down in the air until you're on your way down or hit the apex of your super jump. The height of the opponent might matter too. So for that combo if you waited a while before the second S (I'm guessing here) or did some other moves before it, then you'd be able to OTG off of it.

That's all conjecture though. The short summary is judge you and your opponent's heights before you knock them to the ground.

I'm gonna laugh when they hit him with a nerf stick and all those who jumped on him just for the easy wins are sad. If you are a Sentinal fan i can understand them choosing him though. He should be a high damage character, he's a huge mutant killing robot, but he shouldn't be that easy.

yes. it's the one thing I hate about air combos...but only because it's difficult for me to be patient enough to notice when I'm starting the air combo.

also, if you're using a character that does an air juggle before launch, you need to wait until your opponent is starting to fall (or has fallen a bit) before initiating the launch, or your air combo will fail (because they're almost completely out of reach and you'll wiff on your H and/or S.

It took me several hours to understand this detail, as it was keeping me from finishing Wolverine's and Phoenix's level 10 missions. done now, but oh was it a pain to figure that out.

I tried for an hour yesterday. Today I'm trying again. Failing badly so far :(

in that case, :-(

I was there Saturday and Sunday with Wolverine and Phoenix.

Wolverine = launch timing and air combo timing prevented me from getting to the ground fast enough to get the OTG.

Phoenix = she has a air-based TK shot OTG that was just bullshit. you had to do 2369 to get it to work. I wanted to kick someone.

I understand, knocking them down closer to the ground leaves them more vulnerable to an OTG. Makes sense. Thanks.

were it always that simple.

the difference between too early/too late/right on time is a fraction of a second. I don't know if I'll ever get it down cold like I have some of the other parts of those combos. In fact, I can pull off most level 10's in my sleep...but it's the little stuff like launching too high or waiting too long or not long enough that kill me. then again, it's only been 3 days. maybe it'll come with more time.

Just tiger knee it and delay the tk shot. Got that from the guide. Makes it so much easier.

I finished Phoenix missions today, the tk shot ones were annoying till i figured out the timing, but now i can do it fairly well. Mission 9 was THE MOST annoying because of the air throw into H>S.

Just got my first MvC3 hate mail:

"You are the cheapest little bitch I have ever seen. I hope you die alone of a terrible disease"

I was playing a keepaway team, guess he didnt realize that Dante has a teleport.

I'm starting to get a better feel for this game, which is great. Soon I'll be able to defeat the cpu on easy, dang it. ):<

Would Dante and that dog be good partners for Phoenix?

God, be that guy. It may up your chances of winning. You'll gain some confidence. It can be fun to play as Sent. It's not a big win button. It's stupid to reject it because of this silly online backlash -- you'd think from all the bitching that it's the Ken of MvC3 but I rarely run into Sent online, and I've played an obscene amount in the last 10 days. Though I haven't done much ranked. Maybe it's different in there.

I'd rather play against Sentinel than another fucking gimmicky Phoenix. Most of them remind me of really terrible Dead Ringer spies in TF2. It's hilarious. They really, really don't like it if you refuse to kill them and trigger Dark Phoenix...if you even let them build that much meter, that is. They usually end up quitting.

Also worse than Sent: all these Dantes/Ryus/Deadpools I keep running into who just spam hypers from across the screen every time they get meter. It's like the wakeup SRK of MvC3 but far less effective. Many of them DHC into stuff like Wolverine's Berzerker Barrage (?) hyper. From full screen. It's painful.

(Of course I do many similarly stupid things but it's cute when I do it.)

Oh yeah I got this from one of those guys. He ended up quitting. In player match.

It's astounding how many people don't realize their characters have teleports. Do they not list Dante's in the command list?

I honestly don't think his teleport is listed in the command list. I had to look it up on the SRK guide.

Anyway, my guide from Amazon shipped.

It is, his command normals are not listed, only when you go into mission objectives during mission mode.

I've thought about messaging Dante players who obviously don't know but didn't want to come across as condescending. Even if it is listed I can see how someone would miss it. List is pretty damn long even without the command normals.

I find 23698 (half circle from down to up) to be very easy too. I hit it all the time with that now.

before, I was trying to go 8236, which I got a few times (I'm pretty fast with my stick), but never consistently. maybe 15% of the time at best. almost always jumping too high.
