the latter i could easily do

I'm confused, because wouldn't simply contacting Capcom store reps over the phone allow you to cancel it?

Heck can't you just go buy a copy of the game from a local Wal-Mart, keep the receipt then when your Capcom store copy comes in go return that one to get your money back? I've done that before myself, so I know for a fact it works since Wal-mart employees/best buy ones haven't checked the receipt for the serial codes to make sure it's the exact one you got from them.

Yeah. I like Trish as well. Her trap assist work nicely. If they fall for it it's an easy combo ending in a hyper combo, she's good on her own as well and also has decent synergy with Sents assist. I also tried Tron who isn't bad either. I used to use X-23 but changed her for Trish/Tron. Ammy is pretty good too...I just need to work on her weapon changes and what not.

With Task (vert arrows) / Trish (hopscotch) / Sent (drones) I basically use Task and Trish as two point characters with Sent assist, DHC'ing between the two as necessary. Using vert arrows or hopscotch on occasion hoping to catch my opponent napping, primarily using drones to lock em down and open them up.

Still have to get big time bnbs down though. Trish's aerial hopscotch jump cancel combos are tough.

So you cant search for players on player match. That sucks. (I used to look for 4-5 bars connections on SSFIV)
Also so you cant see the player 'Profile Card' while searching for lobbies, that sucks because it would be nice to see the player Country to look for closer countries.

The online UI is pretty lame.

Aside from the core fighting, which also has some issues, the rest of the product that is on the disc is fuck awful. It's the most bare bones fighting game in a long time, and just barely has more content on disc than King of Fighters 12 did.

This game needed way more time in the oven, because I really feel we paid 60-70 bucks just to have it urley from Capcom. I would've had no problem waiting 2-4 more months for spectators, replays, connection bars, change options for private matches, a more fleshed out arcade mode, the ability to kick players from lobbies, see which region players are from, more than 4 colors per character, and more and more this game should have had.

I hope Capgod patches some features in.

I'm trying to punish some strings instead of pushblocking. Should I be sneaking a poke in on Ama's close pressure spam with his default weapon? What about Taskmaster's swing-hit you on the way down-swing spam?

If we do see things like spectators make it there's only one of two ways it will happen.

1) DLC we pay for 3 months or later from now.
2) New content on Super Marvel vs Capcom 3

Capcom hasn't shown me any reason to think they would give out anything for free, and are heavily focused on getting as much dollars from consumers through whatever means possible. The only times they seem to have something free is when it is 100% worthless dog shit like Tournament DLC mode for SSF4 which no one plays, and most likely the upcoming Shadow Mode DLC will be free since they haven't stated a price for it yet.

Capcom already has DLC characters people have to pay for if they didn't want to pony up for the CE edition of Marvelvs Capcom 3 ready for early March AND they have DLC costumes all lined up also for early March to start releasing them bit by bit.

Shadow mode will be included in the upcoming DLC pack, along with the two new characters.

It seems like if you try to punish strings by sneaking hits in, you're just going to eat a fat combo. You need to know which moves in particular (usually a simple S attack) are punishable for each character. Even then, your opponent could have called in an assist to make their punishable move safe. Advancing Guard is pretty important, so I'm not sure why you wouldn't use it.

I'm using pushblocks, but if I see the same situation and can expect the same strings, I want to push the edge and turn it around. These exchanges add up, and it's fun in a gaming trial-and-error sense.

I found out that im close to no good with combo people. I just can't seem to get enough combos to do damage what should I do?
At present I used to use like zero/dante/random but now I just stick to Hulk/Storm/Sentinel I can combo and do good damage.

Learn to extend combos to maximize damage, but without over scaling. I can do a really really long drawn out Zero combo, but the damage scaling kicks in so that it's pointless compared to a smaller more BnB combo.

The most basic way to get more damage is to call in an assist during the L M H S you probably do with most characters. For zero I do L, M, H... As the green sword is hitting its 3 hits I do a Chris machine gun assist and hit forward + H which will then let me restart the L, M, H, forward hard once more, thus doubling the damage before I launch my opponent up.

Here's a video of what I mean:

Just find the best assists to keep extending what you are normally doing. This will build your meter faster and then allow you to burn it at the end to either kill a character off or have them really close to dead.

I like how the "bnb basic combo" is a three-character super-chain including x-factor.

Sent might be the most boring person to play as and to play against, I absolutely cannot stand it. I'm more or less expecting a patch to give me a higher recovery time. Spamming his lightning and missles just doesn't make for fun or excited gameplay at all. It's all really stale and boring.

Besides, this is my first real fighting game I'd like to get good at, so I suck at stuff anyway...but fighting Sents just isn't fun and is very headachey.

I am kind of dissapointed by how Sent turned out, as he was my favorite character in MVC2. I hope they reverse their decision to limit flight mode to 3 seconds

The BnB is the starter portion before assists come into play. The beauty of my team is, even if I had used 1 assist prior to before I start, just to begin the string, I can still use the other character to get the OTG to go. It really allows for a lot of wiggle room.

The extra portions where I throw in, assists, air assists, hypers, are showing how you can keep adding to it if you have the necessary parts. Zero builds so much meter that at the start of a match you can kill 1 character because you'll build that 1 bar of meter no problem doing the combo.

You don't have to waste X-factor if you don't want at the end, you can stop at just using Zero's Hyper after Deadpools. You could also, quickly cancel zero's at the start into Chris' to get some of Chris' going too. I should check how much meter you gain total from doing what I show before using any hypers.

Really though this combo is very basic and not hard at all to pull off. I mean I suck at execution and so if I can do it most of Gaf could too.

Just got the game tonight, is it me or is the button timing tighter than mvc2? Jump in combos seem a lot closer to SF4 than MVC2 timing wise.

I wouldn't say that, it's just the total sales distribution for this game will be heavily titled towards the western market. I should have mentioned the Media Create numbers though.

Wow thanks whats your GT? Shoot me a FR MrCapcom

Holy shit, I played around with X-Factor Akuma (level 1) in training mode and god damn, all his BnB combos are close to 1 million.

Even basic shit like L->M->H->S->Air M -> H Tatsu -> Air Hyper.

This shit is outrageous.

Can someone tell me why when I do ankle slice -> QCF double attack button, half the time I'm doing weapon x prime and half the time I'm doing rage trigger. I don't get it, my inputs are the exact same when I look, but I get two completely different hypers sometimes, I should only be getting rage trigger. Am I canceling too early or too late? (x-23)

So after some decent lab time I think i've found some teams that I enjoy and hopefully their synergy gives them some legs.

Spidey (web ball)/Wesker (OTG)/Doom (dem missiles) - This team seems to have pretty good mobility. Spidey can be a total nuisance in the air, and the web zip if it hits the opponent gives really good advantage on hit and block. His damage is overall solid and dooms missiles net him over 800k in the corner. Weskers OTG extends his combos or allows him to go for UWT setups. Both him and wesker don't really utilize meter too much so I have a nice pool of hyper gauge to user for snapbacks, crossover counters or doom. The problems I see for this team are that while Wesker/Doom help spidey immensely the same cant really be said if anyone else is on point (although samurai edge could provide some nasty mixups with dooms 8way airdash. Plus DHCing out of max spider isn't too profitable with these two characters either.

Dante (jam session)/Wesker (otg)/Chun (dem legs) - Possibly my main team. All three characters seem to benefit immensely from each other.

Dante (jam)/Mag (beam)/ Dorm (dark hole) - A team I haven't looked at yet but on paper seems to be pretty solid. Dantes pressure with assists isnt as strong with these two as the last team but it should get by (with the exception of dark hole in the corner). Mag's beam assist helps dorm's zoning pretty well, plus jam session should be okay as well. I'm going to mess around with this team later today.

Any thoughts?

Ditto. I played MvC2 Sentinel all the way through, and I didn't even know what a tier was. I didn't know about fly/unfly shenanigans, or anything else that made him as powerful as he was in competitive play. He was just a fun and unique character. Flight Mode was what made Sentinel so enjoyable - I still use it, but I wish it lasted longer.

It depends on the character and the move. Some moves have really tight timing, while others have such a massive window you must be hitting the wrong button if you miss it.

Do it in training mode with the inputs on. Look at what the game is reading you as doing each time, and correct as necessary. Sometimes I like to do the combo while looking at my hands instead of the screen, and I notice that I am not doing what I think I am doing.

Dante (jam)/Mag (beam)/ Dorm (dark hole) - A team I haven't looked at yet but on paper seems to be pretty solid. Use Dormammu's Mass Change M right as you call Magneto's beam assist, and you can combo off of it for a little under 600K with one meter.

is there a setting for "similar skill", or is that also broken?

It's stupid if it does work. Everytime I set skill to "same" at 5th lord with a 77% Win rate and it matches me up with Fighters and 9th "xx" with 20% win rates.

Only people I don't encounter anymore are Rookies and Amateurs

I broke through a wall last night!! I'm playing MUCH better, I went into the lab for three hours the other night with Thor, and I'm doing MUCH better with him.

I got the Kara from crouching Hard down, and the Kara Super Throw too.

Also I hit the air hyper most of the time now (his air combos are weird and a little hard to chain)

I also got good at tiger kneeing a few of his supers, he really is REALLY good, and gives you all kinds of options. I love his lightning assist as well.

(PS - Tron's Gustaff Fire assist is godly)

Searching for same skill usually gets me paired with someone who has a similar number of wins but not a similar win percentage.

Master Milk said:

This.
I have it set to similar skill and same region. Region works great. I only get matched with Europeans but I get matched with people all over the place, usually so much better than me (Higher rank and much better W/L ratio). Occasionally I get matched with someone of similar skill though.

Does anyone not have the "lord" title? I thought there were supposed to be other ones like ranger and knight and stuff.

Believe Lord goes to those who have high stability. Which in MVC3's case, is almost everyone.

What does Stability even mean? That's my maxed out stat.

Is there a list of specific titles depending on fighting style?
