Turbo is on for all buttons. If it works for one, why not the other (the issue isn't that I don't want to turn off turbo so much as I don't know *how*)?
 
I'm having trouble on Wolverines mission mode. I can't figure out the timing for the partner attack on the tenth mission, and I cant quite get the beserker charge cancel to heavy attack
on the ninth mission. Anyone have any tips?

For the ninth mission you want to mash H after Berserker Barrage, it launches Chris upward.
For the last mission you want to slow down your inputs so that Chris is higher than you when you hit S, this way you fall down quicker and the Hulk assist hits

Thanks sir. I'm surprised that I am able to do most of the mission combos for Wolverine now. I'm just trying to clean up my inputs now.
 
I wanted to practice some XFC combos and set Training Mode X-Factor to Infinity so I didn't have to reset to have another XFC ready to go. Only thing is, even though the option is set to Infinity, the XFactor gauge doesn't automatically refill once it runs out.

Anyone else have this issue? Am I doing something wrong?

I noticed the same thing when was messing around last week. I think Capcom's definition of Infinity is different than our definition of it. From what I could tell from the description, if it weren't set to infinity, you wouldn't be able to use x factor again within that training session. Setting it to infinity gives you infinite uses, it doesn't set the x factor to last for an infinite amount of time.

Yes, this is retarded. Yes, this is a Capcom fighting game.

Got my first rage quit....in a player match

Joe/deadpool/wesker vs Hsien-ko/viper/skrull

Im dropping all my combos because of lag and the guy beats me a few times. I start to adjust and he quits on me after taking an anvil to the face

I was doing some mission mode with Spider-Man, and some of his inputs are getting on my nerves. Why can most other moves in a combo be input ahead of time, but the follow up to spider sting has to be timed EXACT? It feels like there is no buffer on it at all and I just end up mashing H with mixed results. I eventually did the combo but it's something that was holding me back for a while.

How about learning the mechanics of the game before mashing the fuck out of jab. If you can't do a basic series into an air combo, you do not know the mechanics of the game.

Why would you want to have infinite xfactor instead of infinite uses of xfactor? :3

Also, I think that it works as it should -- it's just confusing sometimes that there are duplicate screens for dummy and player options as pointed out by Jeo.. it's easy to get them mixed up. I've changed assists before while in the lab and been mad when the same assist came out again... when I'd double check, I'd notice I was in the dummy options page.

Well, I guess it isn't about if it is on the disc or if it is real DLC. It is about me feeling like I'm being ripped off. It does feel worse when it is already on the disc, since I have the disc but I can't use it fully. I'm not buying a service, I'm buying a game. This example is little out there but it's the same thing if I would sell a person a house, but later on would be selling him keys to different rooms in the house.

So I would rather had well polished games with the content they have made for it and later some DLC for the game. Now I'm getting a rushed game with locked content. As a customer, it doesn't seem fair. I do know that it is all about the money, but I wish there would be a better way for it.

I think it works as it should, too. I mean, I think it works the way Capcom intended it to work, but I would have rather it worked differently.

In training mode, it seems stupid to me that anyone would even need to turn on the option to use a game mechanic more than once per training session. Though, even then, it wouldn't be a big deal, if there were also a third option to stay in x factor for as long as you wanted. Training with x factor has an annoyance factor added for no reason, because you have to turn it on every 10-20 seconds.

To me this just seems like one more small thing Capcom did wrong, and small things have a way of adding up after awhile.

Well, if they know upfront that they don't have access to that room from the get-go.

I think companies could save face by not putting it on the actual disc but really that's all it'd be - this stuff is slated as DLC from very early on, it's not like getting rid of on-disc DLC means we get that stuff free. It just means we either don't get it or have to download it later.
 
So anyone kind enough to explain the Dsp hate to me? dont know the guy other than his mvc3 noob guides, but watching winter brawl there was so much hate for the guy, what did he do?

B. some FUCKING OPTIONS for "player match" mode such as, i don't know, TIME LIMIT? is this fucking 1991 or something capcom? jesus christ

You could get the BradyGames guide, which has nearly 60 pages on systems & gameplay, a glossary for all of the terms, expanded explanations for nearly everything in the glossary, etc.

That said, did you not look at this part of the Hyper Guide:

I thought it seemed pretty beginner friendly and actually explains things on a really, really basic level - it tells you that pressing Up makes you jump, or that pressing toward your opponent makes you walk towards them, how basic combos work, team mechanics like crossover counters and snapbacks and team aerial combos and team hyper combos and how to do them, how to activate x-factor and things it allows you to do.

I thought the beginner section of the SRK guide was well-done... and if you watch the character videos, they do a good job of explaining the basic specials and normal attacks that are worthwhile. Sorry.

You could try the Brady guide, but if you think SRK is too complex, the Brady guide will really floor you.

Really, the earlier mission modes are good to teach you the basics of each character -- from there, either practice using them against a training dummy in the training mode or use them online in player matches til you have a good feel. Once you notice you're doing things more consistently try some more missions... you may find you've gotten better and things are making more sense/becoming easier. Also, if 1 mission gets you down, don't let it deter you from trying the next one. Some of the timings are really just a pain in the ass (Spiderman mission 4, I'm looking at you).

Been messing around with Viper. I'm pretty surprised that they gave her a meterless fadc like she has in SF4. No idea if it has any practical applications in this game, but it's kinda cool that they left it in.

What IS silly is that you'd only want one use of x-factor per training session, but I think this option is in place because of the ability to turn on the CPU opponent and fight versus it. I think that's where a lot of the funkiness comes from is the fact that training mode is also versus cpu mode.

I was messing around with her a bit today too, she's pretty awesome. I kind of wish her EX moves didn't take a whole bar though.

On disc DLC is kind of maddening but people are neglecting to mention the fact that the On disc content in this case is incomplete based on hacking reports. They're polishing it off so to speak and if you bought the CE it's free. Either way you spend $10 more why the fuss?

I'm almost ready to give up since a new one of these pops up every day but think of it this way. What makes capcom more money $60 disc + $40 worth of characters (Jill and Shuma are $5 and I'm assuming 6 more characters ) + $30 minimum in alternate outfits or a $40 disc? At best Super will be more of a greatest hits edition like Oblivion or Fall Out. The only reason SFIV didn't follow this model is that it was a gamble and hooks were not in place for DLC.

when i saw that match i was like "i HAVE TO make a gif... after i shower and do some other stuff" .. and then when i made it, i had to get real tight on the start and end points and culling frames etc, and it barely made it under 3MB. but there it is!
 
Completed all the missions the other day. The only ones that gave me problems were the final Spider-man and Thor ones and that was mostly due to mistiming the last part of the combos. I didn't really need to use X-factor to complete any of them unless they were part of the combo.

Speaking of people being idiots....

Today I had, I shit you not, 7, count them, 7 <----- different people in a ROW who all sent me rage messages. I was flabbergasted. During my playtime I also had 4 rage quitters.

I even had one of those 7 messages accuse me of using simple mode. Since when does styling on you for over a 100+ hit combo = simple mode? People are mad salty from this game non stop.
